  1. If there is a DH I feel like he should be welcomed back. He can still hit and won't be too expensive. As we saw this year, it's not easy to just grab guy for cheap and have them produce. No DH gets a lot more questionable, but probably still take him as the 4th guy and also have a good defensive 5th OF. He can still play some OF and rotate through the 3 just listed and Braun in terms of days off and rest. Cain really should start getting the Braun rest schedule to stay healthy, so lots of off days between those two and then any DL stints and minor days off for Yeli/Garcia there will be plenty of starts for the 4th guy. Plus Braun can fill in at 1B too.
  2. Yup there is the initial hunger about when you'd normally eat. Once you get over that hump it goes away and you can go for a while no problem.
  3. Haven't ran through this one in a while, kind of decompressing the L. Good posts by many and pretty much everyone talking seems to have a good grasp on where this is at, imo, especially Snapper. As others have said, first thing I'd be doing is trying on Beal. Do all you can, if you fail then move on to some of the other names mentioned. I don't see any obvious connections of Beal to players on our team, but if you could get in his ear that this is where he prefers to be that would help. After that, as others have said, they need more shooting and guys who can dribble/shoot. someone who can be the lead in the PnR with Giannis as the screener. And not just one guy, need that person as a #2/#3 guys and then some bench shooter types (think of guys like Barrea, Patty Mills etc on past title teams). Trey Burke was had for nothing pre bubble. If not good dribble/shoot guys you also need a sharpshooter or two in the Redick/Harris mold, it's possible to steal a guy like this late in the 1st or 2nd round. heck, that's where lots of those guys come from like Robinson/Harris. I don't think Bud haaaas to go. But half court offense has to be addressed. After the initial spread the court while breaking you have to go to normal ball screen and ball movement like everyone else runs. Giannis is the ultimate screener/finisher. Maybe he hasn't because Bled isn't a good enough shooter. If so I think it was the wrong decision, if you look at Bled before MKE he was a very good PnR lead.
  4. Well, if the big ten plays this and PAC 12 doesn't it become really simple for the playoffs. Just take the winner of each major conference and call it a day. But yes, it does seem odd that pretty much exactly what they feared in terms of bringing students in causing spikes has happened yet they're going to now play even if they go remote for school. For some reason ignoring that issue about how that makes the athletes singled out and looking like pros. That said, I generally agree the playing football itself is not the big issue, test a bunch and keep them isolated. It's the surrounding stuff.
  5. I'd never heard of the term until I started following Joe Thomas on twitter. Was a big part his weight loss after he retired. He talks about it a bit. He seems to find a happy medium on this and keto type stuff where if he's doing something fun, social, hanging out or everyone is eating whatever thing that he'll join in. But say it ends up being a huge BBQ type meal or watching the game with pizza, wings, beer with tons of calories, he just won't eat for like 24 hours after to balance it out. Or maybe even plan that beforehand as well. Considering you're not going to be hungry for a long time after along with sleep it's really not too hard. It was similar to what I was doing as well without knowing it was a thing.
  6. Yes I was doing it before it had a name. I've found it very useful in weight loss. And of course you don't have to go to extreme on it, like anything else using in moderation or certain aspects of it are probably better than being extreme. Basically the simplest way to do is to just skip breakfast, it's really not that hard to do. I've never been a breakfast guy so that's been a staple for me for a long time. But I've occasionally done longer ones on weekends around 24 hours or a bit more, usually aided by staying up late and then sleeping in. I found that once you get past the initial hunger crave it goes away and you can go several hours more. And many times I don't even get physically hungry again before I eat. It gets more mental at that point of knowing it's been a long time and you should eat, plus just the desire of wanting to eat something that tastes good.
  7. FYI Thames is at 205/298 with 325 slugging, 2 HRs. According to an update I see from yesterday it was the first game vs a righty he didn't start. So it seems he's been playing consistently and vs righties. So, both flopped.
  8. Yup, Middleton is a perfect 3 as he can't be the lead creator. Salary cap situation of the nba forces you to pay him that unfortunately. Right, Lebron's shot was always his weakness too. Even at it's worse it wasn't anywhere near the problem is it is for Giannis. Like, Giannis can't even shoot a pull up jumper with how he shoots, formwise. Lebron always could even if he wasn't thaaat good at it. And then as you said, since LBJ at least had a good foundation for shooting he just kept getting better and better to now where you fully have to respect his shot from anywhere. You can add up a lot of salary with Bled, Ersan, Lopi, and spare parts to fit one big salary back in a trade. Beal is going to the name to chase this offseason. Lots of Bucks fans will push Cp3 if OKC tears down, not my first choice but at this point I probably bite the bullet and do it if I can't come up with anything else, his contract is down to only 2 years left now. Load manage him all year to be ready for the playoffs.
  9. Yea pretty much, they need more guys who can make something happen on offense. Not just be catch/shoot. Bledsoe can drive but he can't shot and can't shoot pull ups well. Middleton is good as a shooter, but can't really handle/drive all that well. Isn't quick enough to get stuff like that done. The rest of the guys are purely catch/shoot and their only ok at that. They need a lead ballhandler who can shoot so they can run tons of Giannis ball screens. IMO they should still be running these plays with Mid or Bled as it's better than Giannis at the top of key vs 3 guys while everyone watches so it should create ball movement. But you're exactly right, they're greatly missing that skill set. Middleton is a good player and fit, but he's not quick or good enough dribbling to be that guy. Trade Bledsoe and everything else you can to get a legit modern PG who can shoot for next year, all in.
  10. Weird year so I'm not hating or anything. But I'm sure we'd 2-4 more wins if Yelich was in the ballpark of his normal self. At which point they'd be right on pace as an upper 80 win team. Just like was the reasonable goal to start the year.
  11. On the other hand, if Woodruff and Burnes are legit like they look right now. You have two young cheaply controlled starters along with what seems like a strong backend of the pen, assuming Hader is still here. It would seems logical to fill out the staff the same way they did the last few years which has been yielding good results and focus whatever money they can drum up to fixing the offense, which has been a problem the last few years. So it might not be out of being cheap, but that it just makes sense to focus on hitting. Of course if you don't spend on hitting either due to a hitter not making sense like happened this year, then it will look bad. But if you strike out on hitting and Bauer is still sitting there and willing to do this you have to kick the tires just like Moose Grandal.
  12. -Kyle Lewis was picked shortly after. He was also a college bat and he is doing pretty well these days. He was someone connected to us. -A.J. Puk is pretty solid and half the forum wanted him. -Manning and Quantrill went in the Top 10. -I could be wrong, but I believe we were connected to Whitley at the time. -Of course one of the guys we were close to picking (Blake Rutherford) has not done very well himself either. The success (mostly in the minors thus far) after our pick is pretty staggering honestly. Lots of top prospects and a few guys already doing well in the majors. Yea I have no comment on how those guys are doing in the minors, but as you say I'm sure much better than Ray. And some might do well in the bigs still. I was just saying really none taken right after have blown up in the bigs yet. Puk probably being the most success. Basically it's not like Seattle taken Jeff Clement and then watching as Braun, Zimmerman, Tulo started tearing up the bigs within 2-3 years of the draft. Of course, this could look much worse a year from now if some of the guys you said do start having some big league success. Lewis seems to be on that track.
  13. Yes it does hurt the only top pick we got in our rebuild has flopped so far. Not unlike the Bucks and Jabari. Just eyeballed that draft though and not a lot has hit in the picks immediately after him. Few names I see who've made the bigs but nothing special yet. The one that most would probably want is Lux but he was picked all the way at 20. AJ Puk right after at 6 is probably the one you'd hindsight take who was in the same range of picks.
  14. Yea I'd love to be wrong, it would be cool to see. However, you also don't have to sign with a crap team. Take a bit less and sign with the Dodgers or Yankees if you want to always be winning. 6/150 to sign with say the Rangers or 6/120 for a good team, just sign with the good team, no need to do a 1 year deal. There is no reason a pitcher should ever consider doing what he's talking about. But, if you can get a team to do the 1+1 deal with a player option on the 2nd I could see the experiment. Keep doing that so you always have a buffer year for injury or rebound from a poor year or a year messed up by small injuries. And of course you're locking in double the money you would on a 1 year. A guy like this also doesn't seem to have any problem speaking his mind and being a jerk. Sign the long term deal and if the team goes to crap in a few years, but you're still good, just stomp your feet and get traded. Happens all the time in sports now. But your money is locked in. He can also negotiate a no trade.
  15. Yea because if he gets tommy john or a rotator cuff he goes from 25/30 mil a year down to nothing the next year and then next to nothing after that until he proves himself. Or, if you have a bad year you're down to 5-10 instead the next year. So once you get to say age 32ish when most guys start tailing off then he won't be making much, if he signs long term he'd still be getting 20-25 mil as he ages. He should ask Jordan Zimmerman what he thinks on signing the long term deal, then call Jimmie Nelson too. Dallas Keuchel would probably be another quick call.
  16. I vaguely recall him getting really unlucky in a couple innings in his earlier starts. Where he generally looked fine and then some bad luck things happened to mess up his line. In this small of a sample that will wreck your era. But stil, yea agree with overall not much to be impressed with either
  17. Have Gray on my fantasy team. Popped open the app to see an 81 ERA for the day and couldn't believe it. Wow. Gray has been very good this year too, sometimes it's just not your day
  18. Yea we'll see. Kevin Durant wasn't leaving OKC either. Every player is happy where they are don't plan on leaving, and so on and so on. He will realize how dumb it is, or he is really dumb himself. Every person around and in his life, especially agents and managers, I'm sure will be telling him he should not do this. Maybe since he's talked so tough he could do the Lebron 1+1 type thing to get a middle ground a bit. So the 2nd year is a player option. I mean, just sign with a good team if that's what you care about so much
  19. We'll see come next spring. you can go find tons of articles of athletes saying stuff that they never do, in all sports. That all sounds good in his head until the reality of 1-150 million dollars sets in. Hey i'd be happy to be wrong. It would be a cool interesting career to kind of be a mercenary. And it would put MKE in the talks at least. But it would colossally stupid, especially for a pitcher. But after speaking so bluntly like he does in that article there could be some "don't back down" to do it, even if he realizes how dumb it is.
  20. I'll believe it when I see it. It would be ridiculously stupid and I'm sure he'll realize it.
  21. I don't see why he would possibly sign 1 year deals. As a pitcher that is straight up crazy. Put your 100 mil in the bank. So, I don't see this happening. But, yea in theory it would make sense to kick the tires if he would.
  22. Seems these guys at least have a chance. Just one pans out and you're way way ahead on this deal.
  23. I mean, it's not like I'm stomping my feet for him but since we have the DH this year I wouldn't see the harm considering what else we're trotting out every day.
  24. You'd rather play to win right now with this team? I'd rather pile up bodies in the minors and hope to hit on one down the line. Plus, presumably if we picked up a 'bench bat' right now and he went 1/11 to start then we'd all deem the guy to suck and the trade horrible. You play to win the game. NEVER sacrifice the now for the uncertainty of the future. That will always get you no where. Sorry, this is flat out wrong. It works over and over in all sports. Are you mad that we sacrificed Carlos Gomez for Hader and other pieces that led to Yelich? Yea, it never works out. Houston and the Cubs just won WS with full out teardowns before. Clippers trading away guys last deadline in spite of being good led them to Kawhi/PG13 and possible title this year. You can go on and on with examples.
  25. Saw the Reds made some more win now type trades. They're just determined to be all in in spite of the blah results. Can't blame the FO really, team on paper is good. guys on the field have to do it now.
