  1. I mean if Adams is going, so is Rodgers...so like, at that point what we do to clear cap space won't matter. Just dump every old veteran to clear space. Wouldn't we want a soft rebuild at that point anyway? There would be zero chance Jordan Love could take us deep into the playoffs for years anyway...especially without a guy like Adams.
  2. Couldn't option 2 also be done if they intended to trade Rodgers and Adams? A trading team would be extending Rodgers anyway. Not sure they would restructure him before a trade. What if they restructure it in a way that is not what the trading team wants. Every team has their unique hoops to jump through for cap problems.
  3. The thing is though....he didn't have to respond or even look at the responses. Like I am sure many don't.
  4. Man it would have been so epic had he retired after last year. Imagine if Tom Brady, pretty much already the GOAT of championships...had gone to a new team, won the 'ship, and left on the top of the hill.
  5. I kinda figured he would recruit some WRs if he came to UW. It isn't so much the team personnel, but the offense and conference in general. Does not seem like the best breeding ground for a QB to light it up. Sure, the OSU QB often does, but he is surrounded by ridiculous talent. Some other conference QBs have done well over the years...but not 1st round aspiration type numbers.
  6. Meh, they would still easily be a Super Bowl contender if both returned. Runaway #1 team in the NFC...no. Probably the #3/#4 seed...but we are currently watching the #4 seeds trot out to LA to play for the trophy. Rodgers can lead a decent postseason team the distance...heck some would argue that might even be a better chance because they wouldn't play at home in the playoffs.
  7. It honestly made no sense in pretty much every aspect there is. I can honestly not think of one good reason Wisconsin would be a better pick over USC or dozens of other schools. $$$ Most he getting in Wisconsin is free cheese curds and some beer.

  9. Yah, this situation kind of ended up a shocker. Obviously they didn't think Rodgers was going to win consecutive MVPs (which is honestly incredibly hard to do at any age) and they probably had high hopes for Love. While maybe Love still has a shot to be something, I don't think the Packers have huge confidence in that. Maybe optimism, but I don't think they are bubbling at the seams want to go bet in Vegas over it. Though, to be fair, any situation where the Packers get a boatload of picks for Rodgers because he shockingly turned back the clock is hardly a loss. Love could be a total flop and at least Rodgers brought them back a boatload of picks. I suppose worst case would have been drafting love, Rodgers then regressing big time, and then Love being a total pile of crud.
  10. According to this article, it has happened several times in the past few seasons: https://lionswire.usatoday.com/lists/history-of-the-tag-and-trade-outcomes-for-franchise-players-and-teams/ Adams is arguably more valuable than any player on that list. I would expect at least a 1st, or a good player and a 2nd or 3rd. Thanks for the article. The only thing I ponder is many of the guys listed are defensive guys...mostly pass rushers I think. Is the value they are garnering due to the rarity of them, whereas a WR is a bit easier to just go pluck out of FA. You won't find a Davante Adams...but good WRs usually are somewhat easier to find. Though that article does make me think the Packers might at least expect a 2nd rounder for Adams considering his elite difference maker ability at his position.
  11. I'm sick of his hype and root against him every single time... His attention seeking brother and fiance make it that much easier... lol...every week I always ponder if maybe Rodgers didn't make a mistake cutting off his family. Maybe this is what they were going to be like. Can't stand Mahomes though just because he is already being hailed as the best ever. Yet...I can't help but wonder how good he really is. He has the most dynamic downfield threat in the league that can also destroy teams in the short game because he gets so much space. He then has Travis Kelce, one of the biggest mismatch guys in the league, also at his disposal. Having those two guys is ridiculous. Any half competent QB could put up massive numbers with them. Throw in a offensive mind at HC and Mahomes has one of the best situations ever. Mahomes is certainly among the elite in football right now, but will be interesting to see how he ages. Once a little diversity comes his way and when he becomes less mobile as time goes on.
  12. I get the title is about trading Rodgers, but what exactly is one expecting for Adams (assuming he is a separate trade) considering all we are doing is providing a team the right to franchise tag him and then back up a dump truck to extend him? "I'd hate to lose him for just a 3rd round comp." How much better can we expect? A normal third rounder and maybe a later pick. Has a player in a similar situation really been traded for a 2nd+?
  13. I think there is a really good chance Rodgers and Adams might be a package deal if he gets traded. So, to me, I think the potential teams have to have the capital/willingness to pony up money for Rodgers and Adams...plus giving Adams a big contract.
  14. You could probably just keep Love if you wanted, I don't think Rodgers would care. Though I think you are better off taking the 4th rounder and then getting some random QB off the street to be the back-up.
  15. I always pondered if they could get a QB in the merry go round this offseason. I doubt he comes to Wisconsin though, simply because it really doesn't make much sense.
  16. Cobb would have been a solid pick up....had he not gotten injured and missed the better part of the last half season. Though I am sure many probably didn't want to acknowledge it because that was Rodgers "dumb and stupid idea he forced onto us". Everyone thought Amari Rodgers could do the same, but *checks notes* he ended the year with 4 receptions for 45 yards WITH 2 fumbles. After Cobb went down to injury Amari Rodgers amassed one five yard reception. Cobb didn't exactly work out amazing in the end (though he still was usefull for 10 or so weeks), but Amari Rodgers would have certainly been even worse. I also don't think inferring Rodgers has little buddies and won't throw to people is anywhere close to accurate. How many times has Rodgers gone to bat for some no name scrub in training camp? Isn't part of the drama related to them releasing a scrub? Not to mention the guys on the team at this point have been around years. Lazard/MVS/etc. are far from random no names to Rodgers. I don't think Rodgers is much different than any other QB in the league. Rookies usually take time to develop and can be quite inconsistent and mess up a lot. It is part of the reason I have never gotten on the bandwagon to pummel the Packers over not drafting a WR in the first round etc. They would most likely take too long to really matter under a Rodgers led team at this point. The Packers ended up doing what I thought probably would be the most effective by signing a veteran that would hopefully gel into the offense faster (Funchess). Unfortunately he opted out one year and hit up the IR this year.
  17. Results don't agree with this point. The team and Rodgers have performed exceptionally well with Adams off the field over the past 3 seasons, for the record. I wasn't referring to just Adams or just WRs.
  18. I think the whole receiving corps thing was relevant a few years ago. Like 2019 and prior. In 2019 MVS barely edged out Aaron Jones by three yards for second in receiving on the team. Last year he had Adams/Tonyan and MVS was decent...plus Jones is a weapon in the passing game too. It is hard to ignore the fact he hasn't had a real #2 WR since like, Randall Cobb was in his prime. I don't think it is a huge deal when Jones/Tonyan are healthy, but it still is an obvious problem at times and certainly so when one of the other major weapons are out. Look at the remaining teams. They all have have a pretty clear/dependable #2 WR, in my opinion. The one team that sorta doesn't is the Chiefs, but they also have Kelce at TE. Not saying the Packers have failed or made a mistake at the position, but I still think it is a weakness for the team and something people have a legitimate gripe about. If/When Love takes over good luck to him throwing to the guys they currently have if/when Adams leaves too.
  19. A lot will be convinced he is as good as gone (many thought that last offseason and reports from reputable people even said it), but I’m not totally convinced that’s really the case. I just don’t think he wants out as bad as it appears sometimes. Green Bay may very well be his best situation and he probably sees that. I think last offseason was more hardball than actually wanting out. I think he did so to negotiate the best situation for that year (in his mind) and the long run. I wouldn’t be shocked if he does the same to try and get Adams a big contract plus other moves he thinks they should make. I’d probably put the odds at 60% he leaves. However, because I don’t think the Packers will bow down to many of the wishes Rodgers will want…not that I think Rodgers is dead set on leaving. I just find the difference to be the fact this offseason is much more complicated. Lots of major FAs and lots of major guys with cap issues. I just don’t think pleasing Rodgers in a logical way is that realistic.
  20. The ramping up of piling on Rodgers has been a thing for years and just gets added onto anything happens. Whether it is logical to pile on him for it or not. I don't really think the vaccine thing makes that much of a difference. People are piling on him for the offseason and wanting to win...then not playing like an MVP and losing in the divisional round. Yeah...I think this is way off the mark. He is getting absolutely skewered online, 90% of it jokes about being "unmasked" or "not getting his shot." Anyone of his stature will have their share of detractors. But in the last 12 months he has probably become the most-hated player, or most polarizing player in the league. You don't stick your face in such a hot-button issue and speak vocally about your position without making a lot of new enemies. What you're saying is true but it was localized to football/sports. You have the president of the country calling him a goofball now. It's elevated. We are on two different spectrums of the internet then. Though to be fair I don't go seek out articles after my team gets embarrassed so 90% of what I see is posted by facebook friends that like the bears/vikings and live in rural Wisconsin...so jokes about vaccinations and masks don't hold much appeal.
  21. It is off to a good start being the most depressing.
  22. The Packer burning bridges with Rodgers by drafting Love and then after years of waiting don't even start Love would be so....expected in this dumpster fire. lol I don't think that happens...but man I would get one heck of a good laugh out of it.
  23. This is what I meant when I said we might be expecting too much of the guys coming back. Alexander was absolutely terrible and was to blame on a few notable plays late in the game. There was the big third down play late and Alexander got beat so bad on the slant route it was like his feet were in cement.

  25. I’d guess zero chance that would ever happen. They won’t go from hiring someone like Stearns, watching him flourish, to handing the key to a guy like this.
