  1. Announcer, "Here is a difference between the NL and AL. Here you get to pitch to the pitcher to get out of....oh, nevermind, the catcher is up.' I mean come on man, at least look at the line-up card. It is the 6th inning now.
  2. If the announcing the last week doesn't show how good Brian Anderson is, I am not sure what will. It is borderline unbearable where I would rather watch in silence. Some of the stuff we have heard the last week legitimately makes me more angry than actually watching the Brewers offense.
  3. That is a big part of the problem. When the entire team looks worthy of batting #7 or #8, even when someone gets a hit it is like the pitcher is coming up to hit after them.
  4. We live in a world where people have to be told not to fill plastic wal mart bags with gasoline.
  5. Wainwright was actually really cool - he knew it was coming, so he paused and then changed the subject to Burnes. Good on Wainwright. Bad on these broadcasters. It seemed like the play by play guy was trying to interrupt when it got to the second strike, but the other announcer was totally oblivious and talked over him.
  6. Okay, to be fair, Wainwright is kind of a fitting guy to interview while he breaks the record. At least there wasn't awkward talk while he broke it.
  7. I mean why is 50% of the screen not the game or interview? lol Such a national TV thing. That is when they do these dumb interviews.
  8. We could have paid Grandal or Moose...we wisely did not though. They (fringe all stars) are about our limit in FA. Would be a lot tougher to pull off now that we extended Yelich though.
  9. Excellent point. I feel much more confident in Perdomo and Rasmussen not giving up runs than I do with Lindblom and they have some real control issues at times. It was a fun experiment, but looks like it is not going to work for us. Not a big deal as long as we don't have a bunch of these wild cards all failing at once. Exactly why "just $5mil to Knebel" was more than people made it out to be. Doesn't sound like a lot until you pair him with Lindblom and suddenly you have almost $10mil in negative value.
  10. Lindblom is like watching K-Rod without the positive results. I bet Stearns was so hyped when he got the call that Lindblom was signing a three year deal for little to nothing on a yearly salary, basically no downside. Honestly, I didn't think Lindblom could pitch bad enough to make $3mil a year look like an albatross contract....but here we are.
  11. I highly doubt the Brewers front office is worried about the "so far" portion of this deal. I bet he is. You don't think the Brewers care they traded away a guy who has OPS'd .822 for another team while winning a gold glove? The same time we have trotted out 2020 Garcia and now Bradley Jr.? I bet he is just as concerned about the 'to be determined' part because that also doesn't look especially bright for us compared to the Padres. I hope Stearns is sitting in his office trying to figure out where they went wrong on this one because I don't think they expected the current results of Urias/Grisham. And I say 'so far' because things could change...maybe not overly likely the tables turn, but it could. Urias is still young and Grisham is far from proven still. I am not going to sit here and say this trade is definitively the worst trade ever because there are still many years to see where all the chips fall. However, if we waited 7 years to discuss a move this site would be a bit boring.
  12. This is exactly the kind of move Stearns should be faulted for. If he can't be faulted for this move then I don't understand how a GM can ever be blamed for something. He should definitely be faulted for it if he is basing decisions off of MiLB numbers...but I am sure that wasn't a huge consideration. Don't you think there is a reason the Padres didn't care that they were giving up a players with a better minor league track record and gave up a pitcher with 3x the control Davies had? That is right, it looks like there talent evaluation was miles and leaps above ours. Much like us when we traded for Yelich. It is too early to really know if we lost this trade, but so far Stearns really really blew that trade.
  13. That's the problem, though. It is available on ONE streaming service, and that particular service is most likely not only the most expensive, but also least popular of all of them. I would think it would make sound financial sense for Sinclair to make the product that they are trying to get in front of peoples' eyes easy to get. I know if I were an advertiser, I'd be extremely upset that Sinclair is still charging a good chunk of change for ad time, yet they have made it so thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of fans don't have access to a product they want to watch. I think they are really betting on their direct to consumer with the integrated betting/games to be their ticket to financial success. I don't think they really care to add streaming service contracts in the short term that will hurt their service long term. Their service could work...could, but I think it has an uphill battle. The success will depend on the in-app stuff because they can't price the service too high or it won't make any sense to buy. Since it is essentially targeted at cost conscious people (going with Hulu TV instead of Cable for example) it won't take much for people to balk at the price. It could be a brilliant plan if people really buy into the in-app stuff though. Should be interesting to see how it goes.
  14. Long term it sure would be nice, probably not significantly though. Past tense I am not sure it would. A couple guys have been on hot streaks while roaming the OF so I am not sure what the production in his absence has been like. For instance Taylor has been the main guy during his absence and has hit to the tune of a .790 OPS. That isn't an insane difference, so it would be a large improvement, but not earth shattering. A significant difference would probably be something along the lines of Jesus Aguilar still on the team playing first base. That has got to be at least a .200+ OPS difference versus what we have trotted out there so far. That is making a black hole suddenly go to All Star level production.
  15. Any team would have to be absolutely insane to trade for Rodgers and then send any kind of offensive weapon back in return. Then you consider they are former first rounders...yah, that ain't going to fly. The first key to trading for a disgruntled Rodgers is not ticking him off right out of the gates. You would be lucky if he doesn't just restart the circus in Denver at that point.
  16. It is definitely a different taste. I don't really care for it, but then again I don't really like smoked meat. I like grilling brats over charcoal. It allows a nice low temp, but that heat is so direct coming up it still gives them nice color. With gas the dripping moisture/fat/grease causes the flames to shoot up and burn and/or cause them to burst.
  17. Really? Cause we have spent a lot of money the last two offseason on OFers without much production. I hope Lauer pitches good, but if he was that promising he would not be in the bullpen. Yes, really. Pitching wins in this league. If Lauer ends up being good it won't matter that Grisham is also good. We are seeing it with our own eyes right now how much pitching truly matters with winning. This is what I was referring to. I agree pitching is a better strength to have. It reminds me of how people always say it is easy to find production at first base...but somehow we have garbage first baseman almost yearly. The two recent ones we had were quickly shipped off. When they let Thames walk Stearns even said he thought he could find production cheaper and spend the money elsewhere better. Luckily for Stearns Thames didn't hit at all in 2020 so his first base decision for 2020 doesn't look woefully horrendous...pretty much a lose-lose situation there.
  18. It’s so fun to have elite starters and actually be excited for these games. For years we just assumed they were forfeits and a win was a miracle.
  19. Really? Cause we have spent a lot of money the last two offseason on OFers without much production. I hope Lauer pitches good, but if he was that promising he would not be in the bullpen. In response to the trade, I think they were just that high on Urias. Wasn't the understanding they had to throw in Davies to get the deal done? I think Stearns was also trying to sell high on Grisham a bit as he thought he could find OF talent elsewhere. I am not sure they were that high on him though either. A 20-25 HR outfielder with plus speed and serious on-base skills is a pretty valuable player. If they really thought he could be that guy I doubt they trade him. Especially trade him just to go spend $10mil on Avisail Garcia, who has saw an OPS over .800 once in 10 years. Guessing they thought Grisham was more like a .750 OPS guy long term. That would have been easily replaceable and a higher ceiling guy like Urias made some sense. I think people would view this trade a tad differently if Garcia would have had a solid 2020 to pair with how he has been so far in 2021...same for Lauer. Right now we have paid Garcia $10mil to be terrible in 2020, Lauer was terrible in 2020, Grisham has been stellar, Urias has been bad, and Davies gave the Padres a stellar 2020. Quite a few players in the trade and we got the short end of the stick on every one of them so far.
  20. Are we really judging Grisham's staying power based on what fans thought? Fans, generally, are terrible when it comes to high school prospects. They take longer and usually see more struggles. People will throw in the towel on a high pick HS guy before they can legally buy a drink. He had a nice debut in the minors and then they changed his swing. After that he was pretty rough until they let him go back to his old swing. That is when he started to rebound. I always liked Grisham. With his speed and ability to take walks he only need to hit .260ish to have an OBP over .350. That alone was the makings of a nice #1 or #2 hitter. Of course in the 2019 break out year he also found power to really up his ceiling. Now he looks like a Corey Hart type talent, maybe even a bit higher ceiling than that. It is a bummer we don't have that now. I still think Urias has potential, but sure don't think he is ever going to have the offensive ceiling Grisham has. Obviously Stearns thought he could cover the OF just fine with other players...hasn't really worked out very well since.
  21. He has a family and has zero interest to come back...not even for the Olympics. The guy is done. If he ever did try to come back in 2022 I bet he would prefer to go play for one of the LA teams or not at all. Doubt he wants to come to Milwaukee and have to move his entire family or leave them during the season. I applaud the guy for being a good spirit and putting in the effort to the end. You could tell he worked hard every year despite injuries and other hardships in his career. Braun doesn't really come off as someone who would even want to be lazy, take half the year off, and then com try to play. Time to enjoy retirement and time with his family. Hopefully he will stay involved with the team for decades to come.
