  1. I think the general consensus is confusion.
  2. Would you expect anything less from ESPN? That’s sports media these days. Timing articles, baseless rumors, and making clickbait articles/statements. Also not shocking all the info didn’t come from Rodgers camp. Exactly how you would expect it.
  3. This year's horrendous salary cap situation is the answer to this question. Yeah, the cap issue is a problem...but would the cap matter that much if we moved on from Rodgers. Realistically, you are probably punting your Super Bowl (probably playoffs in general) chances the first year of Love anyway. I won’t pretend to know a lot about the effect that would have had on the cap, especially if we would have been needing to sign a Top 10 pick, but it would have been possible I am sure.
  4. Knowing the type of guy Rodgers is the Packers were really living some fantasy where they thought they could draft Love, keep Rodgers until they wanted to move on, and then just say bye. Honestly the Packers should probably be lucky they made it a year before it all imploded. After he won MVP and didn’t look like an old declining QB it’s not surprising Rodgers is done being a placeholder until Love is ready. I don’t know if Rodgers is scared because he thinks Love is good. I think the difference is before no back up was really the next man up. I don’t think it matters how bad/good the QB seems, it is the fact he knows/believes the Packers are committed to dumping him after this year for that guy. If the Packers traded Love today I don’t think that would be enough, for example. To me Rodgers probably still wouldn’t trust the organization to not just dump him. To add, if Love looked that good to Rodgers to the point he was scared, why wouldn’t the Packers have already made this saga end before the draft...or even now? Rodgers is the MVP of the league, I don’t see him being scared of anyone.
  5. They definitely shouldn’t be extending Woodruff and even extending Burnes is just asking for trouble...so can’t say this deal stopping those from happening (if that is what you are inferring) is a bad thing. Just look at Jordan Zimmerman. He got big time money and instantly turned into a replacement level pitcher. We just don’t need to be throwing big money around.
  6. MLB needs to get rid of the unions protecting umpires....then maybe figure out why the average umpire age has to be 95. I don’t want robot umps...but lord, have some accountability and improvement.
  7. Hard to expect much when the three hitters after a lead off double are: McKinney Reyes Maile Sorry, but that’s pretty sad.
  8. The main reason it won’t be a total disaster (if it happens) is because people are already used to it via Brett Favre. If that didn’t exist in history I think we would have to build a new stadium because the current one would be burnt down.
  9. I don’t think the fanbase is really going to be fine with it unless Jordan Love works out and quicker rather than later. Is the Packers are 5-11 I don’t think the fanbase is going to be overly pleased.
  10. That’s the mystery. The extension was suppose to be part of it and the rumor is they would be willing to give him the highest yearly salary ever. I believe Gute has also said he is willing to go to Rodgers for input in the future (another problem Rodgers had). This is where rumors start not adding up and you can tell a bunch of BS is being spewed all over the place past just to already proven BS rumors. I also think he can be very competitive and not want to play for the Packers. Yeah, he is their best chance on paper, but a few other teams would be close with him on the team. It’s not like his other options are the bottom of the barrel teams. If he demanded a trade and went to a 7 win team with him playing...yeah, not a competitive move. However, he would likely land with a team with a strong chance to win the Super Bowl. Is a free agent not competitive if they don’t sign with the Chiefs of Bucs?
  11. Agreed to an extent, but then considering the 2021 cap hit Rodgers' current deal carries for next season and his refusal to sign the initial reported extension/restructuring the Packers' brass offered, you've got to question what it is he's really looking for. Is it the simple fact he wants to basically guarantee his next (and likely final) 4-5 seasons are played in Green Bay and Love essentially becomes nothing more than a trade chip an offseason from now? If that's the case then I'd implore Packers' management to make that happen and I'd bet it would have already been done and over with when Gute was restructuring everyone left and right a couple months ago. I think it's a bit more complex than that. I think he wants to end his career elsewhere and realizes the time to put the screws hardest to the Packers to get to a team he wants to play at is now. It's on his terms a full season before the Packers were likely wanting to make that decision - but he doesn't want to just come out publicly and say as much because of what he knows it will do to his legacy with Packer fans. Instead, everybody gets dragged through the mud a bit and nobody comes out smelling rosy. Sure, I’m not doubting the possibility he may want to be traded first and foremost. I just think if that is the case he would rather stick it to the Packers and force it now. If he is that disgusted I wouldn’t be overly shocked if he flat out will not take another GB snap. And yah, there is always the possibility the Packers just refuse and he can’t stand just not playing all year. However, if he is really that upset and doesn’t want to play here I can’t imagine that going over well. Why would either side even want to try and go through that.
  12. Is there anything to say they haven't? Solid response
  13. Is there anything to ever say the Packers have tried to appease Rodgers on any of the things he seems to have a gripe with? Is it not possible the Packers have mostly brushed off things and figured it would cool down then back to football? Maybe the Packers elected to neglect the concerns with Rodgers and now suddenly after an MVP season went, “Whoops, we may want that guy around longer than we had planned.” But problem is now Rodgers knows he has an upper hand and a simple “Sorry” doesn’t cut it in his book. Now the Packers are scrambling around saying they will pay him the big bucks and welcome his input on the team.
  14. Sometimes I forget about Chase, honestly was a real solid pitcher for us. Of course for whatever reason he was the starting rotation bunching bag for the fanbase, a role now occupied by Houser.
  15. Honestly...some people will ram their pontoons onto shore.
  16. I’d argue a major problem with this is the fact he thinks they want to trade him after 2021. If they are committed to trading him, regardless of performance, he rightfully has a reason to not want to play for them. Now it seems like Rodgers wants a big extension to assure him that they won’t trade him after 2021. Something I can’t really blame him for demanding. What player wants to be the MVP and feel like their team is planning their departure? That’s kind of insane to be honest. I don’t think there is any chance Rodgers comes back to get traded next offseason. Either they trade him now, extend him, or he just flat out won’t play.
  17. Yah, and he probably has zero interest in the minor leagues for a few weeks either. I’m sure we would know if there was any chance of Braun in 2021 if someone flew a drone over his house and checked to see if he has a batting cage up. If all he is doing is chilling on the couch he ain’t ever coming back. Of course he could probably roll out of bed and be better than the garbage results our 1B have given us. Who cares about him never playing 1B outside of 18 games. We let Hiura stand over there and now Vogelbach is there. Someone should statcast how far Vogelbach can stretch for a ball...Vogelbach or a smurf would be a close call.
  18. You can make it a conditional pick and move based on what happens, they literally did that with Favre...ironically. Favre’s was essentially based on being healthy and how far the Jets made it. I believe the Packers ended up with the minimum 3rd rounder, but it could have been a first rounder had they made the super bowl. The problem is a 3rd round pick doesn’t make up for getting a 23rd pick versus a #8 pick (example). Even if you wanted to conditionally trade picks to make up for it (so the Packers could trade up that high if they felt inclined) the value difference would be a haul. So unless that acquiring team wants to risk having zero high picks for two straight years it would be impossible to do. I’m not even sure how you’d fill the gap value wise. Would the 2nd round picks for 2022/2023 make up for the pick being some near 20 picks worse? Even after you find a “fair” compromise the Packers now have to wait an entire year to start recouping their value from losing Rodgers instead of getting some back last week. A pick a week ago is much more value than a pick a year from now.
  19. Did you miss the recent Miami series where Aguilar had a 1.338 OPS?
  20. I don't think you can blame the coach. Angel called out. No matter how much you think that was the wrong call you have to play it as the umpire calls it. You certainly don’t have too and players play it out all the time despite a call. I’m not shocked the coach sent him back, but if you really know it was dropped it is better to just go over to third so there is no question where you would have ended up if the call wasn’t botched. Then just let review fix it if need be. By running back towards second you leave it up to umpire judgement that has so often failed the last week. Watching the video again the runner at 2nd was insanely confused on whether the ball was caught or not himself. He went to run back to tag, turned back to 3rd thinking it was dropped, and then actually thought about going back to 2nd again. He then started to slowly make his way to third. He of course then ran back towards second after his base coach told him to. I don’t think the base runner ever saw Hernandez call it out. I think he was that confused because he also probably lost it in the video board like Hernandez did.
  21. [sarcasm]I looked it up this morning when I got to work and now I’m talking to HR.[/sarcasm]
  22. The third base coach kind of messed up there though. If you knew that ball was dropped you should have just had your runner play it out correctly. That call didn’t need review though. From my understanding from the video they corrected it themselves after talking with each other and had the one run score and the other runner went to third from second. Had the call not been screwed up that is where he would have ended up so in the end there was no harm done. If the above is correct the umps did a good job fixing the situation.
