  1. He was throwing pipe shot after pipe shot and they were just missing them. He literally threw everything on the edge or off the edge except three pitches. One for a homer, a single, and Devers fouled one off. Pitchers throw stuff in bad spots sometimes. Sometimes it is harmless and sometimes not so much. That surely wasn’t endless meatballs.
  2. I was on it in spring training. I was actually disappointed with JBJ's signing just because that meant Taylor was less likely to make it. Dude has always gotten buried on the depth chart in Stearns tenure. I always thought he could be a really cheap 4th OFer for us, maybe a fringe starter that can fill in decently when there is an injury.
  3. Nottingham was DFA'd on the 22nd. So at around noon tomorrow, if not claimed/traded, they could simply get him back to the MLB roster if they really wanted to. That is assuming the 7-day window to claim starts when they get DFA'd and not like the next day. Of course he would then have to be put back on the 40-man roster. Not sure how long a fractured toe keeps you out, but I am guessing they would rather just keep Nottingham off the 40-man roster at that point so they don't run into the risk of losing him again once Pina gets back.
  4. Because that's literally how the team was designed to operate this year. The pitching and defense was suppose to carry the team, yes, but I think the plan was to be at least average on offense. I think that is what he is getting at...why can't he complain about the offense that is below expectations. Now they aren't that far off average overall, but it is definitely not doing great.
  5. [sarcasm]The AAA one?[/sarcasm]
  6. If you hate the Yankees you will enjoy the umpires refusing a challenge and Boone getting about as mad as I have seen a manager in awhile. The Yankees took too long to request a challenge and when the umpires said, "That's it, were done!" Boone panicked trying to challenge before hearing back from their replay guy, but the umpire did not allow it to be replayed. Wish they would give the same middle finger to managers that want challenges when they already wasted their own.
  7. Generally speaking, yes, you probably come out behind if you play the hot hand. Mostly because you would be basing that decision off of past short term results and not what you actually expect in the future. In the case of Garcia/Taylor that might not completely apply because Garcia isn't exactly a guy with a consistent track record of hitting well and we don't really know what Taylor can or cannot do.
  8. Christian Yelich - Not a pretty 2020, broke a knee to end 2019, and has back problems Avisail Garcia - Terrible in 2020 and not a great bat majority of his career Jackie Bradley Jr. - Below average bat for most of his career Lorenzo Cain - Wasn't good in 2019, decided not to play in 2020, and is 50 years old. Their 2021 samples may be small, but there are quite a few reasons to be worried about them. They will all improve, but Bradkley Jr./Garcia? Meh, didn't expect much from them anyway. Yelich? I will stay optimistic there. Cain? Well, he is really old and has a full year of no action plus a poor 2019. I guess I won't be super upset if our 35 year old CFer isn't an offensive force. If we went back to the signing thread I bet most accepted that by 2021-2022 Cain would not be worth the money. Again, I am not drawing conclusion on these guys...just pointing out why one might be worried past the small 2021 sample size. Of course we are a point in the season where two big games can take your OPS from .600 to .800+ in the blink of an eye.
  9. He just isn't that good. Unfortunately we can't even get the half-competent Garcia that floats in the low .700s
  10. Bickford sucks. His is pitching terribly and looks as nervous out there as I would expect a 14 year old trying to pitch in the majors.
  11. That feel good Bickford story was cool and all. Wish the results were feel good.
  12. You aren’t fooling anyone. Avi hasn’t been a good baseball player for the majority of his career.
  13. A standing O after getting smacked around for 4(+) runs? I think Burnes would agree, please sit down.
  14. So they keep mentioning the no walks thing so does that mean I can get up to go to the bathroom? Or am I still expected to treated this no-hitter style?
  15. Keston Hiura should not be on the MLB roster. Who cares if there are no minor league game to play, get him off the roster. At the very least stop starting him.
  16. Incredibly stupid play by McKinney. Corbin Burnes is on the mound dude.
  17. Any reason the worst hitter consistently hits 5th?
  18. It does feel like the offense is different this year than in years past - in that aspect. Seemed like they could never get a hit with RISP. Luis Urias has an OPS north of .900 with RISP and Omar Narvaez is a crisp 2.269 OPS Narvaez has actually been pretty clutch for the Brewers. His previous two years with the Seattle/White Sox he was pretty terrible.
  19. Koskie was well before the 7-day DL. The 7-day DL started in 2011. The better quiz is how it happened and it was kinda wild. Craig Counsell was responsible for giving the concussion.
  20. Seems like a year where they will almost surely go best available at the time of the pick. A lot of positions we could use help at, but no dire needs in my opinion. Of course moving back also seems like a pretty likely scenario if they don't love anyone when they pick and get a good offer. If I had to guess I could see them going either WR or OL. Helps Rodgers and if they are really determined to go with Love it really helps him out. Seems like a win-win long term and short term for the QB play.
  21. So a WRC+ of 92 overall, but 133 wRC+ with RISP? That is great, maybe they are a team built to be a bit 'clutch', but that's going to coming crashing down soon enough I am sure. That being said average is pretty good considering how poorly some guys have played and the injuries we have endured. This offense also doesn't really need to excel a whole bunch if our pitching continues to be stellar.
  22. Avi is a veteran MLB baseball player and adult. He knows what he did wrong...punishing him by benching him for a day would be pointless with no benefit.
