  1. Zak Showalter called out King on Twitter and Tyler Herro came to the defense saying he was making the best decision for himself. Showalter of course wouldn't stop responding so Tyler Herro is basically taking a big dump on the Wisconsin basketball program. At one point he said, "Appreciate you, but I would still be at Wisconsin." As one probably knows Herro played one year at Kentucky and is now having quite a rookie year in the NBA. Maybe it is just me, but I personally would not be trying to stir up Herro.
  2. So we are hoping Orlando Arcia has a fluke season at the same age as Alcides Escobar? He followed up that season with a 53 OPS+. Alcides Escobar now 5,700 PAs and is the same cruddy player he always was. His career OPS+ raised to 73 after all these years.
  3. My boss loves making old as hell movie references and then asks if I have seen "insert ancient movie". When I proceed to tell him I have never seen said movie he is always like, "Oh man, here let me find a clip!". Then I awkwardly watch him try and use YouTube as he can't find the clip and instead all that pops up is a bunch of NSFW videos. In the odd event he actually finds it the video usually pauses every 5 seconds and/or he laughs like crazy as I awkwardly stand there not laughing. Then I gotta do that fake, "haha, that was pretty good." as I walk out of the room.
  4. Yah, doubt Gard goes anywhere for years. Letting him recruit two really solid classes and then dumping him before he can coach them is silly. Not only that, but would possibly tick off many of those recruits leading to more transferring and then really put the program in the trash. Gard is safe for another 2-3 years minimum.
  5. Right, though he could always build a case to get a waiver. Which personally I don’t know what even constitutes or doesn’t constitute one. I’d guess something happen of recent that just ticked King off that much. It was probably rocky long before, but something likely was a last straw type deal.
  6. Doesn’t seem all that strange of timing when you consider circumstances. I am guessing it is more than just disliking how they play, hence why he is suddenly bailing out in the meat of the schedule. Seems like there is probably more behind the scenes that made the relationship really toxic. I would imagine it takes more than that to prefer quitting mid year over playing for your current team. Having someone transferring is one thing, but having them throw in the towel in January is a pretty bad look for Gard. Though to be fair it’s hard to really blame Gard or know how much blame to put on him when there is probably a lot of details we will never know.
  7. He definitely worked pitchers heavily in Cincy too. Cueto was often pitching 115 or more. Not sure about his Nationals days.
  8. His stats overall are kind of ugly, but he consistently has a solid ERA...so he has that going for him. End of the day I don't care if his FIP sucks...just get outs when you need them and keep the ERA down.
  9. I have been on the fence of whether or not I think it was a flagrant foul. The rules regarding a flagrant foul are kind of vague and depends greatly on the reffing crew. Usually it is summed up as excessive and unnecessary contact. It was definitely intentional and unnecessary. Was it excessive, I guess that is debatable. Though I do think the area He decided to start swinging leaves very little wiggle room before it is considered excessive. Similar to the head (the one on top of your shoulders) has a lower level to achieve excessive.
  10. Damage control. The most important thing to that team is keeping the clubhouse focused. Baker is thought of highly for that.
  11. I was going to mention this a few days ago, but I was shocked the NFL had not stepped in to try and help Antonio Brown...at least not publicly. Now Goodell has mentioned exactly that. With all the flak they have gotten in recent years plus the Aaron Hernandez documentary they really should be trying to save Antonio Brown before it is another disaster.
  12. Yah...they are most certainly not limiting it to their team store intentionally. On another note when some teams start going to matte finish I heard it was pretty definitive no as whether the Brewers would ever make such a change. That being said with the uniform change it is possible. Only because it would seem kind of weird to have the helmet be essentially the same while every thing else is dramatically different.
  13. Yup, I agree...probably not good for a small market. There are advantages it gives the Brewers, but every other team gets those same advantages plus some. Now NL big market can sign mega contracts and ween them into a DH role in later years. NL big markets are now major players for elite DHs etc...we won't be with or without the DH. I always see Brewers fans in favor of this, but I don't really get it. This is not really a benefit for a team that already can't afford to field a really good team consistently. We can't afford to piece together an offense as is...let alone afford a really good DH. Imagine the Dodgers who had that logjam of bats for years...now they get to stick one in their lineup while we go pick through trash like Justin Smoak.
  14. I think there are quite a few potential pitchers. Rasmussen would be a sexy pick, but I think a guy like Supak could perform right out of the gate himself. Offensively there really aren't many options. Lucas Erceg would be my pick...well, probably no one if it is an option. Corey Ray would be the secondary. I wouldn't be surprised if we get little to no help from the farm this year.
  15. It is the year 2020 and we are still trying to come up with new reasons Arcia will be as motivated as ever.
  16. Well, he had no choice on the flopping. He had to stop because there was now a rule to punish floppers. Before there wasn't much risk other than it not getting called and you laying on the floor as the play goes on, making you kind of a liability on defense. One could argue he didn't intentionally punch the guy in the junk the other night. It was not necessarily a blatant shot like the original one he pulled. To me he still hooked the guy which is bad on him, regardless of whether the screen was legal or not. With his history it seemed pretty shady, but what I have seen this year is refs more willing to go to a flagrant or a flagrant two. They called a flagrant two last night on a guy because he pulled the arm when a guy was going up for a layup...seemed like a pretty extreme call when he simply tugged it. Not like he ripped him to the ground on his head. I don't think they are giving much leeway these days and a history of dirty plays won't help the cause.
  17. I hope there was more to that than just being upset about the direction of the team. A lot of Badger fans hope he comes back, but I would hope he doesn't if the rumors are true. Forget that he is second on the team in scoring, you are pretty much a locker room problem when you bail on your team. Team has to go on the road to Iowa, a huge road conference game in a thick race, and he leaves them high and dry. Even worse they end up losing it by a few points. It looks terrible he would decide to bail on them after they get slaughtered by Purdue in a game where he managed zero points in 28 minutes. Scoring a point or two would probably help the direction of the team. I just don't see how you have a reunion after that, seems like a good time to pack your bags and leave. It really is not a good look for Gard. You got one player ready to quit and another punching guys in the junk to help cost you the game.
  18. I’m not too concerned if we miss him for a month or so of the season. A lot of concern here and the thought of Arcia, but let’s be honest....Urias isn’t likely to be a huge impact. He really wasn’t much better than Arica last year. I am optimistic Urias could maybe be something more impactful than Arcia, but not sure this year will be woefully different. This probably isn’t even the worst injury that will happen between now and opening day.
  19. Brad Davison is a loser. I was happy when the flop rule became a thing so I could stop watching Davison try to audition for a theater production instead of playing basketball. Give the guy a break though, he has to find a new cheap way to gain an advantage that doesn’t require actual basketball skills.
  20. The no divisional trade thing is a myth made up by fans. Teams seek good returns in trades, regardless of the trade partner It isn’t a myth, but it is quite overblown. Teams almost always prefer not to trade within the division. Doesn’t mean they won’t, but it can complicate things...especially in a case where both teams want to win now.
  21. Pretty much a given that would be the outcome. The swift action to get it done probably means the recovery time is reasonable. At least it happened now. Next month+ was already garbage time anyway.
  22. His former agent probably torqued he got a MLB deal. I won't miss him, was never a big fan of him. I would say good luck, but I hope this ends up like any other experiment on a different team.
  23. The bullpen is largely the reason for the small run differential in my opinion. It allows us to win so many close games because we have the upper hand in late game pitching. I don't think it is all that fluky we are outperforming the differential.
  24. Yah, the problem is we are both trying to win...which really makes an inter-division trade almost impossible. You would have to really question why the other team is getting rid of the players they are to you.
  25. This is insane. It is crazy, because such trades don't really happen. That and the fact you have two win now teams and it involves MLB talent. However, logistically it actually isn't that far out there. If you are looking at it from the Brewers perspective it really comes down to whether or not you think Hiura will be so much better with the bat he makes up for the fact he won't even be a defensive player. Not only does Senzel have every bit of offensive upside as Hiura (probably more) he is also an elite defender at 3B. Keston Hiura is a phenomenal player with the bat, but he will forever hold himself back by either atrocious defense or being a DH. Nick Senzel is a potential super star talent. I think their values are actually pretty close. I would give Hiura the upper hand because he hit very well last year which dramatically lowers the risk associated with him. That being said Senzel is the higher ceiling player. For what it is worth I wouldn't do it and I think both teams would say no...unless the Reds don't like Senzel and are trying to unload him.
