  1. Manfred came out today saying they have no reason to believe this involves any other teams...at least at this time. That doesn’t prove a team isn’t, but with such an in depth investigation it seems no other team is going to the extremes or making it as obvious as the Astros had. That isn’t a comment Manfred would make without a lot of investigating across MLB in general from 2017. So odds are we weren’t usually a camera and banging trash cans.
  2. You are missing the point...it is said to annoy the person and be condescending. It worked whether you are actually a boomer or not. It’s almost better because the only thing more insulting than being negatively generalized as a generation is if it isn’t even the generation you actually belong to.
  3. They only have the official on field ones up, the replicas most buy are cheaper...though yes Nike has hiked prices on jerseys.
  4. Brewers ditched the BiG logo and Attanasio comes to the recue to bring it back. First with it as an alternate, then the navy look, and now this. The fan base has been pleading to have it for decades. Yet some people just want to poo on the Brewers that it is all just about money. The Brewers could have gone to a completely new look with zero relation to the BiG and they would make a boatload of money regardless. As long as it wasn't atrocious any new look would sell. Instead they put a lot of thought into their retro update. Hope people realize a different ownership group could have thrown the BiG in the trash and never looked back. Made it their own logo/idea similar to the 2000 update once again. Fans should be constructing Attanasio a statue in front of the ballpark and regarding to him as a legend.
  5. Newest tidbit in the Astros saga is players wearing buzzers to get info. Now this is a bit more speculative by other MLB Execs...but interesting none the less. Ugly regardless. Seems they had a guy in the dugout tunnel watching a screen even in the WS where a few Astros hitters had crazy home/road splits. I believe this is why they were speculating maybe something on the players body as there are so many mics in the postseason it would be blatantly obvious to start banging a trash can. Personally if some of this came to be true, especially in the postseason or WS, I wish they would drop the hammer on them and take the title away. Of course that is wishful thinking as the Red Sox got a slap on the wrist in the same year and they probably weren't the only ones. Just has no place in baseball...arguably worse for the game than players getting caught for PEDs.
  6. The problem is loans don't make a student have "skin in the game", at least not mentally. The amount of students that actually realize what their loans will cost them monthly or actually realizing they will have to pay them back is essentially zero. Yes they know they have to pay them back, but it doesn't really hit them until they start getting that bill. The only students with a real big grasp on the impact their loans will have in the future are finance/accounting type students. Even then the way they portray students as making a big joke about their loans and how much they are going to have is woefully accurate. Taking out loans simply isn't going to make a student suddenly put in a ton of effort. It is just imaginary money they are spending until the payments hit. Many students who get aid will take out the max federal loan anyway to get the refund check so they can have spending money. To be honest I didn't know a single person who didn't take out the max. College students either want the refund check or they want to keep as much money in their bank account as possible. Many students could pay a lot more out of pocket, but opt not to so they can get a newer car or have spending money for random things. Every student is different, but taking out loans just isn't changing much in their head. Now if you have to start dipping into your own bank account and run it close to $0...maybe that gets you a little more focused.
  7. I could see them banking on a Shaw rebound if they upgrade SS. If Shaw fails it is a much easier position to upgrade or find a replacement. How long a leash can they give Shaw? He could well pick up where he left off. They certainly can't afford to wait till July if he's hitting .160 on Mothers Day and there's not going to be alternatives on the market in May. At the very least they need to bring in a guy with ability to handle the job full time. Starlin Castro started 42 games at 3B last year for Marlins and played fine there. With how Brewers move infielders around, he makes a lot of sense over hoping and praying Travis Shaw isn't Chris Davis without the big contract. At least you know what you're getting in Castro. How long a leash can you give Arcia? He has been about as bad as you can be for two years now. It is way easier to upgrade 3B any month of the year over trying to fix SS. What happens when Arcia sucks? The same carousel of AAA fodder we have done the last two years. I doubt Shaw can be a total bomb at 3B. Worst case he hits like Arcia and you upgrade him at the deadline easily/cheaply. If Arcia hits like Arcia you are basically screwed for the entire year. But I don't know the 3B market come May (waivers etc.) or July (trades)….maybe it won't be an easy add either. All they need is a bench bat that can play both corners. If Shaw is still sub .600 OPS they have someone to at least be competent until they can get a true replacement.
  8. Powder blues and the 90s era both entirely missing. That is an instant win in my book! Still wonder if the royal pinstripe jersey will live on in some capacity, as far as on the field goes. Maybe it takes a few years break to get people to buy the new ones. I still think the royal uniform is amazing and it is the uniform so many fondly remember. I bet people would still gobble it up. Hoping for a navy shirt with the wheatball logo
  9. I swear, every time he throws the ball, it appears as though he's throwing a 10-pound medicine ball. I don't know if it's his follow-though or something else, but his throws have always looked "off" to me. 61 losses by 7 or less in his career. To me, a lot of that falls on the QB. He simply is not a difference maker and often times makes poor mistakes when it matters. Yah, he may not have the best supporting cast overall in his career...but man, he can’t lead them to anything. The Chargers are a mess though. I am nearly positive they had three plays in a row they fumbled the ball.
  10. People wonder how the Chargers never do anything with Rivers. Probably cause he sucks.
  11. If someone doesn’t care about their education because someone else is paying for it they certainly aren’t going to care if they are paying for it either. You care or you don’t. I don’t think there is a strong correlation between the student paying versus someone else. The reason kids not paying for their college flame out more often is because they are going purely based on not having any financial skin in the game. If they would have to put in an effort to pay (like having a job on top of it) they simply wouldn’t go...not try harder. Sure it may motivate some, but odds are they already cared and were going to put in the effort anyway. I knew a lot of people from a lot of different walks of life. No amount of financial aid (or lack of it) was going to help the people that failed/dropped out.
  12. They also had a locker picture where both away unis had the yellow hat. However, Hiura wore the normal hat with his away uni. So can they wear the yellow hat with either away jersey? Can they wear the navy hat with either away jersey? Simple mistake?
  13. You can now get your $500 Yelich jersey online. Stop! Not everyone at once!!!
  14. In all honesty I am really glad they tweaked these logos whether they look better or not. They don’t need to rehash an old logo with new colors. Give the time period it’s own identity...let the 80s be the 80s. Though much like the “official” logo I don’t exactly understand where the barrelman comes into play. He isn’t on a single jersey or hat. Again...a bit weird. They could have released him in 3-5 years on an actual retro alternate type deal. Updating him just for merchandise seems unneeded. Maybe just me, but that navy looks like a college uni. Not bad, just seems college-like. As one may know I pooped on the gray unis of old, but I like these. The coloring on the jersey (namely the yellow) makes it pop and not be so bland. How I would rank them: 1) Pinstripe 2) Gray 3) Navy 4) Cream
  15. Really surprised they made that barley ball the arm sleeve patch, kind of unexpected and makes the “official logo” even more strange. Not even on a uniform let alone you already know it will hardly be used. All the social media went to just the BiG.
  16. I don’t like the thick arm sleeve stripes on that cream jersey. Ugly in my opinion, comes from the powder blue jersey if I am correct. I also hate the yellow front panel hat. Again, another classic look that should have stayed in the past. We also have used that hat so much for BP and ST it looks really weird as an actual hat. Not sure how I feel about the cream...idk there. I love the pinstripe jersey, but of course they just couldn’t let it be the main jersey.
  17. If they went full powder blue yes, but if they did something like the royals, I think it would look nice http://news.sportslogos.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/royals-2012.jpg I LOVE different. Every team pretty much sticks to the same color template. A large majority of teams have blue as their primary color, just like the brewers. Anything to stand out from the crowd gets a thumbs up in my book. Thats why i was a fan of the gold uniforms. Is the Brewers old powder blue actually powder blue...is powder blue just a generic term that can vary in actual color? Cause I always though the 70s or whatever Brewers Blue was much darker than say the Royals...which doesn’t look that bad. Those Brewers powder blues were hideous outside of the color though. I always thought the yellow was a barf worthy combo, the yellow outline of the letters looked bad, and the blue numbers/letters on blue was also a terrible combo. I don’t know if a lot of you guys are just old where that was the cool jersey in your roaring 20s or something or what...I think they suck. Would I care if they were an alternate? No, cause I really don’t care about alternate jerseys. They can be ugly and I’d still be fine cause it is at least a change of look over 162 games.
  18. I don’t think that was a hint at powder blues and I sure hope not. Powder blues are absolutely hideous and especially so considering it just is so outdated.
  19. Man Quad Cities gets a decent chunk of people to the games and have a nice stadium/location. What a shame for some of these cities and owners if it goes through.
  20. The oddest thing they did was do the navy/yellow BiG casually in the first place. They should have never done that soft change to the BiG the last few years. They should have just punched us right in the face with it as a massive shock like nothing we had seen before. Instead we just casually changed to it over the last few years. I guess it was probably better for sales...but lame for the end goal.
  21. Tom Brady really hasn't been that good for years. They just use him perfectly and know how to maximize him with what they have these days. He has notably declined the last 3 years or so. He really isn't a difference maker at this point and if you look at how he has faired against decent teams I would be incredibly concerned if I was a Patriots fan. Not counting their first two games (Steelers/Dolphins) he has been really unimpressive. I wonder how much cold weather and/or just getting beat up over the course of the season is affecting him...if at all. If you look at him he hasn't just been not good in recent games, he has been bad. I think there is a really good chance that team doesn't make the AFC Championship game.
  22. Teams rarely build up a uniform change. I am guessing it helps sales to make it more an element of surprise. Probably leads to more reactionary buys. They have to do it today though, literally no option not to. The 50th anniversary logo has a BiG logo on it...which I am sure is the new version as it has the new colors. They have a giveaway for people buying an authentic jersey...which will of course feature the 50th logo and of course the new jerseys. I like the 50th logo though, applause to whoever designed it.
  23. Carson Wentz just blew that game against the Patriots so hard. Talk about missing a receiver wide open or not being able to hit the broad side of a barn...yet somehow almost got down the field to tie it.
