  1. Big game today. Went into last week 7-1, but many questioned the sincerity of that. They then proceeded to lose their home game in California in pretty embarrassing fashion to a team simply not that good. Panthers are a solid team and after this we get a great 49ers team. Lose today and they could easily be 7-4 after next week confirming what many thought.
  2. Pass, just pay an extra few million to have Thames back. As I have said before it just doesn’t make sense to drop Thames and go for a scrap heap 1B...the cost difference just isn’t there. Just screams in house options is what they plan.
  3. 3/$24mil, if that can’t get it done we should pass. Bullpen > Rotation No reason to put serious effort into the rotation via FA. We can’t afford major difference makers and the prices are astronomical. I think we can piece together a solid rotation without paying FA prices that the better guys command.
  4. I feel as though people are way too concerned about finding an opportunity to get smacked by OSU again. I’d rather a new team give it a try. Besides maybe Minnesota can do the unthinkable, beat them, and then make the playoff. Maybe if such a lesser program makes the playoff Wisconsin will start trying to figure it out themselves. I know people don’t like Minnesota, but I feel as though OSU losing is better and I would think one would cheer for a non powerhouse to make the playoff. I’m hoping Minnesota goes undefeated until us at which point I hope we win. If we don’t though I’d certainly be pulling for Minnesota to beat OSU. I guess I’m just not that enamored with a Big Ten Division title just to lose to OSU again...likely in embarrassing beat down fashion. I can’t fault someone if they are dreaming of another match up with OSU to crush their dreams...but good luck with that.
  5. Chick-Fil-A has one of the cheapest costs of starting a franchise. Pretty amazing, considering how well run they are, how efficient, and tasty. Chick-Fil-A isn’t even a true franchise opportunity. CFA controls everything and you are basically just a glorified manager of it. On Another Note: Burger King is absolute trash. Eaten there 2-3 times in my life...cafeteria burgers are better. I thought that chain was rightfully on the decline, but I keep seeing them pop up. As far as Popeyes and their sandwich, a brilliant marketing technique that is used often these days. It’s basically like have a limited time offer/food and then take it away. Instead they make it seem like it was so awesome they ran out and keep you on the edge of your seat until it is restocked. Kylie Jenner is a billionaire off using a similar technique with her products.
  6. I don't understand why it bothers you? Were those your "go to" seats? If it helps the team generate more revenue by bringing more people through the gates, I'm all for it. I don’t think it really bothers him, he just thinks it is stupid...people going just to drink etc.
  7. They do, in the concourse and the drunk fest area outside RF. Also why give that away for free when they can do exactly what they are doing and have people pay a premium price thanks to their company etc. I get what you mean, but if people already don’t care about the game why give them a view of the game for free. I wish the same, but it doesn’t make sense for the Brewers.
  8. I would if I was on a computer. Not really feasible on my phone. It was a I-94 rivalry bobblehead the bobblehead hall of game does every year...FOCO branded. I searched the internet for it and could not find it.
  9. There was a leaked bobblehead that featured the new logo on a navy hat, white jersey with navy pinstripes, and a 50th anniversary patch. Whatever is on the front couldn’t really be seen. I’d link it, but I saw it on Facebook so I can’t really post it here from my phone.
  10. Few Things: The old logo did not look like the ball was being caught in the pocket of the glove...or even close for that matter. All people ever said (non Brewer fans) was who catches a ball in the heel of the glove. The circle will not be around the logo on most things. While the circle will be in the official logo it will only be a jersey patch for the most part. Hat and many other things will just be the logo alone.
  11. That may be true, but I don't think it will magically get cheap. Room and Board is expensive and from personal knowledge I know the typical college is in the red when it comes to residence life. They definitely aren't making money off people living on campus. ~$10k yearly tuition isn't that crazy in my opinion, but the $25k+ tuitions probably are not sustainable. Even at a cheap college you are talking $20k a year ($80k total) to go if you have to live on campus. If you only get basic federal loans that leaves $55k to find in the couch cushions. Just roughly speaking. I am not even sure it can get cheaper. Is LSU going to demolish their water park? Are schools going to tear down the luxury living quarters? If people continue to fill these universities where is the motivation to change?
  12. That 2011 team defense....ooof. McGehee/Yuni B/Weeks/Fielder then Braun/Morgan/Hart I am not sure where that ranks in overall team defense historically, but it has got to be pretty low.
  13. Considering 50% of baby boomers have zero saved for retirement I really wonder what they have blown their money all these years. College was cheap for them back in the day and many parts of cost of living were much less than today when taking into account what inflation said it should have been. While I think these days people understand the importance of saving for retirement I still don't think it is really being hit on enough. People coming out of college don't understand the incredible importance of early saving for retirement. They have that "I got time" mindset and are willing to wait 5-10 years. Another concern that I am afraid will come to fruition is millennials not starting savings for their eventual children to go to college. I doubt many are running to save money for college 20 years from now while they are trying to pay off their own college every month as is.
  14. My Fiancé is in a healthcare field. 6.5 years of school, 2.5 years of graduate school costs $90k for the tuition alone. That was the cheapest of the schools she got accepted to and pretty typical. Before you could work and be debt free after college...now you better go play the powerball. Now some people do graduate a basic 2-4 year degree debt free...but that usually requires aid of government/parents and almost surely being able to commute to school.
  15. Hard to pull off anything date specific when they don't release dates. I guess I understand they can't this early, but thus it is an inconvenience to many. He would probably enjoy it a lot. He would prefer a Sunday afternoon when the sprinklers kick on. I had to advise him once that running onto the field to play in the sprinklers wasn't allowed.
  16. Do you know how many people get ‘worthless’ degrees? Do you know how many plead for someone else to pay off their debt. That’s just a random minority of people so microscopic. It just gets blown up in the headlines because it is an attention grabber. If you want a real problem look no further than FAFSA. The concept/expectation that your parents are going to help you pay is an incredible burden on kids who don’t get that help and their parents make more than say $100k combined. If you are even luckier your parents will take that tax credit for a dependent in college and not give you a penny...which yes, is quite common. The parent gets to claim the child’s college expenses and get a tax credit even if they didn’t pay for it themselves.
  17. A large majority of his errors were throwing, but there definitely was a good chunk that were fielding too. He really needs to cut the errors down or that is one rough 20+ error defender.
  18. Come on man, we both know he was talking about Weeks in general, not his single worst season. Weeks probably averaged about -3 to -5 on Fangraphs. He even ended up with a positive WAR multiple times. Not saying Hiura can’t improve, but generally comparing him to Weeks he was notably worse last year.
  19. I remember everyone being so blessed that Wheeler trade fell apart. Looking back it would have given us a true ace in both 2018 and 2019. Of course the eventual Gomez trade turned out quite nicely, but seems the Wheeler trade would not have been too shabby either. I don't see Wheeler happening at all. He is kind of the Cole fallback for teams and I really can't fathom us handing out a 5/$100mil deal or anything close to that.
  20. Choi is nothing special. He posted an .822 OPS this year...at 1B that is hardly special. Hardly a crippling move that will cost us tons of money. If you wanted to find a cringy move Jonathan Villar would probably be more appropriate. Though there I am not really sure Villar+Hiura is anything we really would want anyway. That being said losing a run of the mill 1B isn't much of a huge loss.
  21. Well, at least from the eye-test he was about similar with Scooter and still better than Weeks. Amazing how bad defensively our 2b have been for the last 15 years. Anything hit to Scooter or Rickie's backhand was a good bet for a runner to reach first base. Hiura is most certainly worse than both Weeks and Gennett….it is not particularly close either. Hiura pretty much struggles with everything on defense and has no arm or range. He struggles to field a ball right next to him and can't get to anything away from him. Weeks could turn DPs confidently, had some range, and had a strong arm. Hiura had 16 errors in a half season. If he played every game he would have amassed 30+ errors. That is really bad before even considering how many plays he can't even attempt to make because of a lack of range/arm. Hiura is probably closer to the worst 2B defender in history than he is to having the defense of Weeks/Gennett...and that is really sad because neither of those guys were very good defensively. On a different note Bref has projections that include a reliability percentage. Yelich to hit .961 OPS (86%). Shaw to hit .769 OPS (82%). Projections are just silly in such an insanely flukey sport. Nothing ever seems to make sense.
  22. Thanks, some first hand experience/knowledge is always nice. I am in a bit of a pickle these days picking rewards since so many basically involve week day dates. My +1 can't really do weekdays so most of the experiences are effectively out of the question. I plan to do the play day one at some point here in the coming years. My son is only 3 though so not dying to do it yet, maybe when he appreciates baseball a smidge more. Regarding your alumni experience curiosity they have a picture out there of the attendees (at least some of them). I can honestly say I didn't recognize a single one, but again I think most were well before my time 70s/80s guys etc. I am sure you could ask your rep who was at last years and maybe get some kind of idea.
  23. I don’t mind the laces or centering the ball. The white piece being thrown out is what gets me. That small piece of white is what really throws it off and makes it look different if you ask me. Had that still been incorporated seeing the differences would be difficult. The worst part is all the complaining it will cause and how they tweaked it just to tweak it talk.
  24. We got exactly what we constructed and it is amazing the Packers neglected the WR corps this badly. It is pretty damn sad if you ask me. Adams - 2nd Round Pick Scantling - 5th Round Pick Allison - Undrafted Lazard - Undrafted Kumerow - Undrafted 4/5 unproven and 3/5 weren't even drafted. I mean...come on Packers.
  25. It is only $11mil. If we decline the option he gets $4mil buyout.
