  1. Is this our secret weapon on the pitching side?
  2. Moustakas was the #10 2B in baseball last year according to fangraphs. I believe that accounts for his defense at 3B too (which probably helps matters). Is that a lot of money for a #8 to #15 2B in the league? Seems a bit steep to me even if he keeps repeating his 2019 season, suppose maybe market rate. I don't think it is a terrible deal for the Reds if he keeps producing...but they certainly paid for it.
  3. Packers clinched after being 12-0 in 2011. Patriots 16-0 year was also after Week 12.
  4. i wasn't really signaling you out, i am more frustrated by the amount of fans here and other places that are freaking out so early into the offseason. I get it, I wasn't trying to make it come off that way. I just assume they will try to be highly competitive again next year and Moose not coming back is a little bit of a twist. I figured we would invest some money and have his bat back...but obviously a team decided to value him like a 2B. While some may start the "break year" or whatever you want to call it talk I am not convinced Attanasio or even Stearns would just shrug off a year of the pieces we have on this team currently. I think they make moves to be good.
  5. I'd be concerned if it was February, but can we atleast wait until then before going into full freakout mode. These moves are not made in a vacuum. I'm not freaking out, not even slightly...but they have already seemingly downgraded at 3B and C...at least as far as free agency goes. Unless you believe they are going to sprint out and sign Rendon. Catcher is still a bit of a mystery. If they go Pina that is a pretty sizable downgrade, which is what I am figuring they do. First base is a real big mystery and they seem to be content with more average to worse production at SS with Urias. Urias may pay off in the long run, but I won't expect much in 2020. There aren't a lot of FA options that fit nice in the Brewers budget. Either they simply aren't that good or we will need to write big checks. To get a Moustakas/Grandal level replacement on the trade market would cost a lot of prospect capital that I doubt they do. Maybe they shift their focus to investing in pitching, but Stearns hasn't shown much willingness to do that in the past. Not saying they can't improve...but it isn't as obvious now, especially with Moose not back in fold. That is two .850 OPS bats gone. More curious how Stearns will improve the team...not freaking out like they are goin to be a 90 loss team next year after making no big moves.
  6. Exactly. For a second I thought that we could sign Donaldson after seeing the Moose news but he should command a lot more. Two Things: Donaldson is going on 34 Donaldson is a 3B, the Reds are valuing Moose as a 2B. Moustakas is obviously more valuable offensively at 2B (much more so). Not saying Donaldson will/won't get more...just that the two are not directly comparable.
  7. lol 4 years and more than $60mil? I wanted him back, but that is way too much when he has to play 3B here. Good player, underrated by many...but hard pass. Brewers may have made a mistake not getting Moustakas on a reasonable 3 year deal last offseason. On the negative side our offense is really really bad and I really wonder how Stearns is going to make it acceptable after the loss of Moustakas/Grandal.
  8. To me the most realistic situation is to have Seattle win tonight and help in the divisional race. Then you cheer for the 49ers next week to beat the Saints. That would put us in the advantage for that tiebreaker if I am correct. That situation is better in my opinion because I could see the Saints losing another game outside of next week...thus allowing us another lose by us (maybe). To overtake the NFC West takes a lot of juggling. Are we going to end up in an advantage for the tiebreaker with Seattle? From what I can gather it would be a strength of victory tiebreaker...I can't tell if we win that just gazing at the schedules.
  9. What a slow news day. Talking about how much a Christmas tree costs?
  10. Stearns came out pretty early in the offseason and said the best role for Suter was exactly what he was doing last year and hinted that was the preferred plan.
  11. Because you are assuming their committee critically thinks about everything down to the smallest detail. I tend to doubt that is the reality.
  12. Can McNeil even play third base on a daily basis. I see he has sporadic time there and I don't know if that is because 2B is simply a more valuable place to be for him or if his arm is a noodle. Because if he isn't good defensively there our pitchers are going to die of unearned runs in that trade situation and what we plan up the middle.
  13. Any team without a QB they feel might be something would gobble up Brady. It is like asking if a team would want Michael Jordan. A team would take him and not care if he is total junk just to have him on the team for a year. The problem is a team wanting him and Brady wanting said team. Bears would likely be the most obvious. Maybe the only option if the Patriots wanted to get rid of him and Brady still wanted to play. I don't see it though. If the Patriots don't want him I bet he just hangs them up.
  14. Urias actually hit in the minors. Arcia for the most part did not. This really gets glossed over when it comes to Arcia. He had a solid season in A+ ball, had the good season in AA, and then followed that up being terrible at AAA (considering where he played). Arcia produced in the winter league a few times, but those end up being real small samples. Arcia got overhyped majorly. It is somewhat comical he was ever a Top 10 prospect in baseball when he never posted an OPS over .800...given he didn't stay in the minors that long, but he never put up eye popping stats. Urias may be the next Arcia, but I think he is a little more promising than that. Still, if you look at Urias most of his production seems to be in hitter friendly AAA. I guess we shall see what comes of his offense because he won't provide nearly as much on defense. Sometimes it can be real hard to predict the success of a player by minor league production when they move incredibly fast through the system. You can hype a guy up cause he is so much younger than the league average (Arcia), but sometimes that doesn't translate to MLB success.
  15. I think the Tom Brady era is ending.
  16. I don’t think how Wisconsin losses matters. They win and are obviously in the Rose Bowl. If they lose close or lose big...doesn’t matter if you ask me. It’s already a known fact they will get you use their “cluster clause” as they all will be grouped quite close together if Wisconsin losses. Though maybe a blow out drops Wisconsin so far back they don’t consider Wisconsin/PSU clustered in the rankings. I just think they have a preference between Wisconsin and PSU. I doubt how Wisconsin loses is going to sway it one way or the other.
  17. Well to be perfectly honest Penn State “earned” the right to play Ohio State again. They played them close and have a pretty similar resume outside of that. Our loss to Illinois is leaps and bounds worse than their Minnesota loss. Unfortunately (fortunately?) the system doesn’t allow two opponents in the same side to play each other in the championship game. Because the two best teams in the Big 10 are Penn State and Ohio State judging by the regular season results.
  18. Pretty amazing, perfect spiral.
  19. Holy missed pass....
  20. Yah, I think we know that. We saw that last week.
  21. I don’t know what we were doing there before the half on that drive, but it sucked.
  22. To be fair he was really the only guy open.
  23. This aged well A broken clock is still right twice a day. I know, it was essentially a joke.
