  1. True...I would probably have the sky start falling if the starters start stinking up the joint. I think I could be positive through bullpen struggles though. That is a easier fix midseason. If the starters shart the bed we are in bigger trouble.
  2. Pretty close to how we ended last year: 10/13 is what we did though. Maybe they are bad at math (or me). Though unless that plate it new that is obviously not a possible fail on their part. The people to wear 9 or 13 aren't obvious. Specifically most were one year scrubs or just plain bad. I really want to say OF stands for outfield....but for some reason I really feel it means 9 of 13 or in another way 9 out of 13.
  3. Not going to lie for the games we have played I have been pretty calm through them all. Typically I would have had 3 heart attack scares and at least a stroke.
  4. Maybe it is coincidental, but he reminds me of Wily Peralta in that exact sense. When Wily was on he was good, but then was total garbage other times. I could see him putting together a flashier version of Wily's 2014 season. For the record, I think Freddy is better than Wily...just that inconsistency is familiar.
  5. That is how I have seen him going into the year. I expect a lot of blow ups from him...but at the same time he pretty much was the reason we won today. You give and take. I hope less clunkers and more gems though.
  6. At the end of the season we are going to look back and see when we went 9-1( ) to start the season...the biggest bag of random results in the win/loss column across baseball as teams/players settle in.
  7. They must not practice framing skills all winter because Grandal and Pina have both be sloppy in that department.
  8. Yah, the long AB to Puig ended any possibility. Though I don't think there was a chance even if he threw three pitches. Counsell allowing someone to throw a CG is like the white whale of managing moves for him. Not saying that is wrong though. There is probably little reason to let someone ever to 9 nine inning outside of a tip of the cap courtesy. I would probably let Jeff Suppan come back and pitch the 9th over just about anyone outside of the elite of the elite. By that time you are so tired and the other team has seen you so much your effectiveness is really questionable.
  9. And you know so much about Arcia? Do you think there are not players that don't take it as seriously as they should and greatly underperform because of it? I don't recall ever saying "having fun was wrong"...ever. Or even talking about fun at all. Id say at least 25% of the NFL woud fall under the "not taking it seriously category". So many fail and underperform because they don't put in the work necessary. Never said Arcia did or didn't. All this talk about laughing, smiling, and having fun like I even mentioned that.
  10. Ha, MLB had some graphic the other day of number of players from different countries and I was like, "Who in the heck was born in Saudi Arabia?"
  11. I'm pretty sure Gallardo had one where he also scored the only run of the game, maybe back in 2011ish time..not sure. I dont think Grienke had one for us but he did have the game where he allowed 0 R in 9IP but was removed for extras I believe. So Ill say Gallardo and Wolf? I am still angry about this one because he should have been sent out for the 10th. I don't remember the exact historical significance, but that would have been one heck of a rare feat in today's game. He was only at 100 pitches.
  12. This would be the complete opposite of selling a player high. He's still not that far removed from a monster post-season.. All this statement makes me think of is Jeff Suppan. And that isn't a good thing.
  13. Anyone want to take a stab guessing the last two pitchers to throw CGSO for the Brewers? They did it the same season (one did it twice that year).
  14. So each team got a hit in the 2nd inning....that has been it. Wow, I haven't seen a pitching battle like this in a long time. Peralta has zero walks to boot.
  15. You would have think that getting demoted to AAA would have gotten the message through to him. It's mind-boggling to me that a 24 year old who had a .576 OPS last year and is rosterable on an MLB team only because of his defense would risk his entire way of life by not hustling. Someday he might get sent down to AAA and never make it back up. What he has could be taken away at any time and he doesn't seem to get it. Yah, I don't try to pretend like I know Arcia and what goes on in the clubhouse etc...but watching him just doesn't really scream, "I am serious." I watched him at a game last year where he spent 2 innings messing around with two kids pretending like he was going to throw them a ball just to not too. I never find age as a good excuse, I care more about how long you have been in the majors. He is on his 4th year(3rd full). Probably time to hustle, pay attention to the game, and show some kind of improvement in your approach...not the opposite. He just does not come off as a guy who grinds it out in the cage and works hard to get better. Maybe I am wrong, but successful major league players who do grind to be better usually don't look like what he is at the plate.
  16. I have always gotten the jist Arcia thinks his defense is just going to carry him on an MLB roster as long as he wishes. I don't know, all last year and to start the year he doesn't really look like a guy who is sporting a .550 OPS. Always goofing around during games messing with fans when he should probably watch our pitchers at the plate to learn something. I just don't get how he still rocks the same horrid approach at the plate and bad swings. He has never made sense to me and it may never make sense. Never would I have thought Arcia would be so bad at the plate to deserve to be replaced at SS. All he needs to be is below average hitting wise to make himself an okay to solid starter.
  17. Maybe a family of 4 that are fans of Molitor? Or they don't like Molitor and think he was selfish taking the better deal and leaving ... It is hard to know the underlying meaning without rolling your window down at a stoplight and asking... Real Reason: Thought of the most thought-provoking idea to put on their plate so a bunch of people on a fan forum on the world wide web would try to figure out how many meanings it has. Every time on here when we start questioning a plate it makes me want to come up with something with no meaning just to see how you guys respond after seeing me drive down the road.
  18. Oh I don't blame them for giving Braun that deal. I liked it at the time and still would even if he was doing his current production had the PED thing not happened. Having him as a career Brewer would have been worth it. I think they knew that $20mil wouldn't be all that much by the time it kicked in too. Back in 2011 $20mil actually would have been elite status salary...now not so much. Offer Yelich $25mil and that may seem like a lot in 2019 terms, but by the time it kicks in that won't be near market rate. $20mil was about 20% of the payroll in 2011 terms and $25mil would be about 20% of the payroll in 2019 terms. So, yah, somewhere in the $125mil-$140mil range would be Yelich's comparable to the Braun deal over 5 years.
  19. I am convinced that the only reason the Braun extension ever happened is because the Brewers were in dire need of a "Face of the Franchise" for their history. I mean the franchise was still living on the back of Robin Yount (and to some extent Molitor). The younger generations needed someone to cling to for life, insert Braun. I think the Brewers thought he would be decent during the extension period, but I also think they didn't care if he wasn't because the extension was to almost assure him a Brewer for life. That is what the goal was. I don't think we are desperate for that kind of figure even if Braun self imploded his status in Brewer lore. I don't think they are going to get the post-career Braun they were banking on, but he will still go down as a major guy in history. He probably still gets his number retired etc. The only reason to do such a extension years before FA is to do exactly that, put a guy in your franchises shrine forever. I don't think we are desperate to make Yelich that. I am guessing Yelich's comparable deal to what Braun did would be about 5/$125mil.
  20. You can’t compare that to the Reds. The fanbase is totally different than it was back in the 2000era. Since being relevant again we bottomed out at worst 2.35mil in 2016. That team in 2000 drew like 1.50mil. Today’s fanbase would not have 7k show up.
  21. We wouldn’t. Not sure why we’ve made a big deal out of this around here. Because: a) We would draw better. Notably less than we do with the roof, but we would draw better than this. It helps we are way more used to colder weather than Ohio folks b) We have a roof so we can make fun of what others don’t have
  22. Man, why? Just why? I wasn’t very confident last night and it worked, I am trying again.
