  1. The problem with the logic of “the team is worth so much more now” is the fact one wants him to spend the money he has made off of the team...but he has made NOTHING. The only way to make that $700mil is to sell the team. At which point he has no team to spend money on. Which all signs point to him never doing so, so the $700mil is pretty darn irrelevant. I don’t recall “all-in” meaning, “flush money down the drain because perceived value is up that I will never actually realize into actual cash”. I believe he claimed in 2012 they lost a slight amount of money (whatever that means/entails) and I am sure he will do it this year in the right situation. To expect “all in” to mean lose million upon millions seems unrealistic. If he says we don’t have any money, well, probably don’t.
  2. That $700 million is imaginary though. It doesn't exist unless you sell the team. What are profits and expenses? That is what matters. It's not imaginary. If they sold the team now, they'd make several times what they purchased it for. That's not just created in someone's imagination. And when you talk about billionaires, about 90 pct of the time their value is "imaginary" in the way you're using it. Hell, Trump includes his names value in how much he's worth. How much he values the number put on his name. That's imaginary. The value of Trump towers vs the actual cash he has is not imaginary. PS-Just using the famous rich President as an example. NOT trying to argue about him in any way at all. How exactly is he spending that $700mil without selling the team? It has no tangible value right now. He isn’t going to overspend or go into debt on the teams value to put a better product on the field. The opportunity cost of doing that with tens of millions would end up being hundreds of millions by the time he is dead and his grandkids sell the team.
  3. Our payroll is already higher (or will end up higher) than any other person who could own the Brewers would spend. I don't think people realize that sometimes. We should be thankful for having Attanasio...not just demand him to be greater than he already is.
  4. No, they have zero gains of $700mil. That is like any other investment...imaginary until you cash out. That $700mil means nothing to Attanasio. He will either die at the helm or hand it off to his kids. It isn't ever going to be sold by him. Do you really think it is worth it to lose millions to have a better chance at the WS? I am not really convinced just blowing the payroll out of the water is worth it...MAYBE if we win the WS, but if not the "investment" of added payroll probably isn't really worth it. It would have been most financial business savy to not get Grandal or Moustakas....in all honesty. I would agree if adding all that payroll actually almost assured us a WS, but it is a giant crapshoot. Be a 100 game winning team and the odds are actually historically against you.
  5. That $700 million is imaginary though. It doesn't exist unless you sell the team. What are profits and expenses? That is what matters.
  6. They won't, and shouldn't, make a move soon. However, once you start rolling into May/Mid-May if someone is still bombing it often you just can't afford that . I mean by mid May they will have plenty of starts under their belt. I would replace someone at the start of May if they are really just getting murdered out there. You can't be sitting there going three innings and giving up 4/6 runs. You are destroying the bullpen, giving up a ton of runs, and then the bullpen will give even more runs. You are single-handedly losing the game...essentially giving the team no chance to win. Barring one heck of an offensive performance and amazing bullpen work. I am not saying we need Keuchel or need to replace these guys, merely saying if things don't get WAY better from the trio of young guys they can't afford to give them 150+ innings on this team. We will sink our year letting guys throw 150+ innings of 5 ERA or worse ball.
  7. If scouts hate him, no prospect list rates him all that highly, and a random person on Brewerfan.net hates him....who exactly are you going to try and fool? Speaking of holes in swings though, Keston Hiura. He has essentially struck out in any AB he did not get a hit in so far this year and managed a K% near 30% in the AZ Fall league. The kid is not dominating the minors. I think he has shown a lot of elite attributes, but not the kind of kid I would expect to come and be an above average MLB player. The question is silly though. Keston Hiura will be the next to make an impact barring a terrible injury. No one else is even on the map in my opinion.
  8. I told people before the season Chase Anderson could/would outperform at least one of these guys in the rotation. One of these guys is going to be an absolute dud in the rotation...just not good odds you start that many young guys and one doesn't just blow. HRs or not Anderson could be solid with a lot less varying results. I think even the Brewers knew that going into the season. They have Anderson waiting around and then they have Nelson eventually ready....probably around the start of May. They probably started them all in the rotation to get an idea of who was going to sink or swim. Not sure if they will get more than a month to figure it out, but I can almost bet whoever duds the most and looks least promising gets kicked to the curb for Anderson/Nelson sooner rather than later. You just can't have this competitive of a team and let young guys toss around 5.00 ERAs or worse. All three are incredibly exciting young pitchers and if we only had one I think we could live with growing pains, but we can't trot out an almost full rotation of them.
  9. I picked Virginia to win it all, the losing to a #16 seed to winning it all seemed destined to happen. Great storyline and it happened. I was pretty confident Duke would miss the Elite 8 and it almost happened twice...still, they ended up disappointing regardless.
  10. The fact you can punch a ball out of someone’s hand and get possession of it because “it rolled of their finger” is quite honestly the dumbest thing I have to occasionally witness. If you hit it out it should be out on you unless it clearly hit a different body part or they try to regain possession on it. What a dumb way to basically end the game.
  11. And a team with a chance to win it with a last second two takes a stupid three with plenty of time. Idiots, idiots everywhere.
  12. That's probably going to happen I'd venture to guess if neither one starts hitting more consistently, we're going to see either Dubon or Hiura up and playing 2B, and Moose/Shaw manning 3B/1B. I mean Thames came into today with a .267 AVG and an OPS north of .900 Really hasn’t had much of a chance.
  13. I’m more shocked they even had a chance and he would have been out by a mile with a good throw. Calhoun must be slow as molasses because he got one heck of a jump.
  14. There you go... Hardly, it was a terrible throw and he got gifted by the call on the field. The umpire called a tag he couldn’t even see and on reply looked like he missed.
  15. I am guessing they were deer in the headlights trying to figure out if Yelich actually caught it or just fell down after failing to get it like most players do when missing a fly ball. Then Yelich popped up and...well...Pujols can only can scamper so fast. He had to of been at third when that happened.
  16. Wow Pujols, how dumb can you possibly be? How does one even find a way to get thrown out there? Can we please see an overhead shot to explain where he went, the bathroom?
  17. He just needs to have a good swing. Chasing stuff isn’t what makes him one of the worst hitters in baseball. It is the fact even when swinging at good pitches his mechanics are so pitiful he can’t do anything with the ball. A good approach is nice, but man he just needs to figure out how to have a good swing first.
  18. Grandal has been...pretty darn bad behind the dish. Dude couldn’t make a play back there to save his life.
  19. I would pretty much walk Trout in almost any situation. He is followed by Bour, Simmons, and then 50 year old Pujols. That is pathetic, that entire line up is a train wreck. Other than situations where you wouldn’t walk anyone...I’d walk Trout every time. I would probably walk him with 0 outs and him being the winning or tying run.
  20. Gilbert Lara was absolute garbage...about as bad as one could even imagine. Now that he is on his third stint in A-ball one should get excited at the age of 21? Right, let me know in 2025 when he finally gets to AAA how he is still doing. That dude was never going to make it with us and 99.99% he never even sees an MLB plate appearance. If he figured it out, good for him. We shouldn't be clinging onto 21 year old prospects in A-ball that can't even manage a .600 OPS if we have a chance to improve a postseason bound team.
