  1. Boston Red Sox got 99 reasons why they have 100+ wins, but Thornburg ain’t one. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=thornty01&year=2018&t=p
  2. Man Domingo Santana getting thrown under the bus after 200 ABs where he didn’t have power? He had 1000+ ABs before 2017 that showed he could be a solid MLB hitter. He is still hitting .250 this year and I think he is still an OBP machine even if that hasn’t been on display this year. He had a slow April, but was great in May. In June he struggled once his playing time diminished. If we let him go there is going to be a pretty happy team to pick him up off the trash heap. That won’t happen though, we would trade him. I’m betting we would pay him $3mil to sit at AAA and wait for a major injury if we could.
  3. I agree on Moose. He's been a nice pickup. Solid middle-of-the-order bat, very good defensively, and seems like a well-liked team leader. I wouldn't have a problem at all if they considered keeping him for next year. Shaw has shown enough to say that he can be adequate at 2B defensively. I like moose as much as the next guy, but middle of the order bat? I mean...I guess that can happen when our MVP bats are OBP machines and are at the top. Typically you wouldn’t want a bat like Moustakas in the middle of the order. His OPS isn’t even over .800 and is a pop up machine it feels like. Not really a drive him in type.
  4. Thank god we are at home. That saves us all 30 minutes of our lives.
  5. He has looked better, but the results haven’t really followed all that much...for the most part.
  6. Might not have gotten help in the divisional race, but we are going to nudge our magic number down to 15 for both the Cards and Dodgers. Now four games up on both we are likely to be hosting some October baseball. Hopefully more than one game.
  7. Thames isn’t going to be making a postseason roster...you can tell he just isn’t there mentally. Looks look in a lot of ways.
  8. Craziest triple opportunity would be losing the ball in the lights. I guess an OFer could trip and get it that way...but that is a bit extreme. Less crazy would be it bouncing off the angled CF walls.
  9. Butt Single and Bunt Double. Hope he gets two more AB, would love to see the triple and HR versions. Well the homerun is going off the OFers noggin. That I know.
  10. Man one could try to do that 10 more times and be lucky to do it once. To get a pitch that high, past the first baseman, and fair is crazy. So he has now singled off the pitchers arse and doubled on a bunt down the line. I mean...baseball.
  11. I wish we had room for Santana, but he can’t play 1B. He is a MLB bat and he still has power.
  12. I may be the only one, but I am a tad sick of all the advanced stats they throw around on broadcasts these days. I am watching the game and a huge AB in progress. I don’t need to here about “well hit average” and a confusing explanation by Brian Anderson.
  13. Best is when no one is one or just on first base. I jump around waiting for the little baseballs to uncover “Homerun”.
  14. Double switch makes sense now. It is easy to start an inning facing a bullpen arm...Arcia though, pain in the arse. Changes the entire inning.
  15. I mean Arcia will hopefully give a better AB than Burnes. Plus Schoop hasn't looked too hot tonight Arcia hit the ball very hard. Just ask Archer's bum. List of things I don’t need to see in one post: Arcia hit ball Very hard Archer’s bum
  16. Pretty much sums up for the trade of Archer for the Pirates...
  17. Why are we making a double switch this early in the game and choose Arcia? Why not just let Burnes lead off the next inning at that rate and not stick Arcia in there, who is likely to hit like garbage in multiple ABs now. You make the move to have offense...but in reality if he gets multiple ABs in this game now we probably come out worse on paper.
  18. Yah that would be the key to choking the division away...losing to the Reds. Not something you really want to do to yourself.
  19. I would have just bunted there. What are the odds even if Gio hits it to the OF Pina will even score? The OFers will play so shallow it’s stupidly unlikely Pina will score on a grounder. Next up is a very speedy Cain who probably is more likely to hit an infield single to score someone from third.
  20. Lorenzo Cain is a GG lock in my opinion. Huge year, lots of media attention, and we are going to play in October. But seriously Brian and Bill. It was a stellar catch. We don’t need to make it out to be a homerun robbery. You guys just sound like a bunch of blind idiots. Not even friggen close.
  21. I don't really see a reason to lock up Jeffress earlier than we have to. Id take him to FA every single time. He is unlikely to ever get what you would consider market value due to struggling elsewhere (on and off the field). Not to mention at this point for his own personal wellbeing/success I would be willing to bet a "team friendly" deal would be in store to boot. Why would we extend him two years early? Especially for a pitcher who will be 33+?
