  1. I'm from Illinois so maybe we have different values or something? I would never wish injury on a professional athlete. I am so sorry to hear that.
  2. Well he does have a spot backing up 1B when Braun is healthy because Braun can play left field. That is still a solid amount of ABs in a year. The problem is when Braun is unhealthy (often) and he ends up in RF. That just should not happen. Probably safe to trade him in the offseason though and save the money. Santana should get another chance next year and that already gives us 4 OFers with Braun able to play 1B. Shaw can obviously play 1B in a pinch if Aguilar is banged up/taking a day off and Braun is injured.
  3. Did you ever play Little League? I was a 3X All-Star in that and Pony League thanks to my old Coach Cooper. It's too bad he died early from lung cancer because I always thought he could manage better than 1/2 the MLB managers today. I highly doubt that the Cubs organization signs a youngster without looking at their past social media history. Odd that they seemed to be okay with Aroldis Chapman's domestic violence history then. GOOOOOOOT EEEEEEMMMMM. On another note something is probably wrong with you if some little part of you doesn’t hope a player’s injury is serious (like Bryant). It helps our team make the playoffs! A little part of you has to be like “nice!” when you see news that helps your team, no matter how unfortunate it is for said player. Your moral side may not want to hope for injuries to people, but some part of you surely wouldn’t mind it.
  4. Someone who gets it. The loss column is all that matters. If the Cubs lose up to 4 more games than the Brewers lose the rest of the season they win. So scoreboard watching is pretty important. Not that we can do anything about it. We control our own destiny because we play the Cubs more than that deficit in the loss column. We win the rest of our games and we are in. If the Cubs did the same (except losing to us) they would have no chance to overtake us.
  5. Well, for one, he has only played for about 2 months - he was hurt for a long time. His bat is coming around over the past 3 weeks, though. I know I made an anti-Theo comment previously...but reality is they gave up nothing for a month and playoffs of this guy, and Murphy is going to be good down the stretch. . Not if they lose in the wild card game...is it still worth it for them?
  6. Probably because everyone knows the Nats are going to ask for more than most teams would be willing to pay. Not really the case regarding price. If the Brewers didn't want him going to the Cubs they should have put a claim on him, offer nothing and risk the Nationals just giving him to us for the cost of his remaining contract. I assume unwritten rules would be broken though. Brewers probably didn’t want to risk losing out on so much money for someone they didn’t need. Also might have thought the Cubs wouldn’t have interest in him.
  7. I love watching the teams around us improve and we sit around and play Schoop just as much as Shaw. For the record not saying we won't pick anyone up this month...just not fun to not improve while others around us do.
  8. Another nice thing is we don't have to play the Cubs at the end of the year. The last time we play them is mid-September. Kinda glad one of our last series isn't against them. Instead the Cards and Cubs get to beat each other up at the end of the year. Us? A poor Tigers team to end it. I like our schedule, I think it bodes well for a postseason chase.
  9. Harper/Murphy have both been claimed. Neither makes any sense for us though.
  10. Sal Romano has started 5 games against us the last two years. He has lost every single time. This year he has fared better, but we crushed him last year. Hopefully the streak continues.
  11. They got Moustakas and Schoop….they aren't going to start sitting those two guys a bunch for Murphy. It just, would not be efficient.
  12. Played against Kyle Cody in HS (Chippewa Falls Native). He actually got drafted by his favorite team (Twins), but I believe they opted not to sign him after elbow concerns if I recall correctly. He was the Rangers pitcher of the year in 2017. Unfortunately after trying to avoid TJS for half the year it was unsuccessful and will now miss all of 2019. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=cody--000kyl
  13. The scary world of rentals. In such short samples of a few months it is almost a total lottery of who will actually be hot.
  14. Is Schoop better at 2B defensively though? Jonathan Villar at nearly 1/3 the cost would have been a wiser stopgap if that is what we wanted. Not to mention Villar’s speed is a big boost over Schoop. It was a confusing move at the time and keep looking worse by the day. I can only imagine the Brewers hoped 2017 Schoop was the real deal and that hot week he had was a sign of some sort it was still in him. Now it is blowing up in their face (so far).

  16. One big bonus to the giant dog pile is all those divisional foes from the East/West will play each other countless times. Those teams will either beat each other up to a near .500 record or one is likely to pound the other...causing one to run away with the division and the other to fall in the WC standings. If we can take care of business on our end and win 90 games or so we should lock down one of those spots pretty easily in my opinion. We are going to be right in there.
  17. I do not support starting this inning with Jeffress at all. Give someone else at least one batter.
  18. Sit Jeffress down now, I’d take my chances and save Jeffress.
  19. Glad Braun scores! He will need a few days off with the leg injury he just sustained!
  20. Wow, I stand corrected. Note that we go into tomorrow with neither of them available then.... Better than saving one of them for tomorrow just to get blown out 8-2 tomorrow. Or even worse save one, Burnes/Knebel blows it today, and we get blown out tomorrow 8-2.
  21. And Jeffress for the 9th, not shocked. Even less shocked with the top of the order coming up I believe? No way anyone else was getting the 9th.
