  1. Maybe they can show this during rain delays instead of the same three things they usually do.
  2. Have we considered that Cobb has not signed with us because he doesn't want to come here? Probably 100 times
  3. I swear this question has a thread devoted to it every year and 90% of people go with the World Series. That will be a rememorable season for life. All you need to do is ask a fan of a team consistently winning with no World Series for your answer. Pretty sure they will all trade the winning seasons for a World Series.
  4. Revis, really? Has anyone watched him play recently? He is absolutely terrible and slow.
  5. I love how people love to come flying out of the woodworks when something happens to fit their narrative. Wade Miley's start today is proof he sucks etc., but before today that 1.34 ERA and 10.4 K/9 was meaningless. Gotta love it. Chase Anderson must be ready to be demoted to minor league camp too.
  6. I strongly disagree. I think they make the Yelich trade even if Cain went elsewhere and vice versa. And I think you're a perfect example of falling victim to coincidental timing combined with the unfortunate misleadings of an internet troll. Yah, going to have to disagree with that one. Actually I might be the polar opposite.. There was some connection with those two signings. Those two major acquisitions don't just happen on top of each other like that. Did one depend on the other? Maybe, maybe not. Maybe getting Yelich created an urgency to finish up the Cain deal ASAP too.
  7. Arizona/North Carolina/Villanova/Duke North Carolina/Villanova North Carolina
  8. They are going for it, to some extent. Lorenzo Cain was almost instantly signed after we got Yelich. That isn't just some kind of coincidence. Lorenzo Cain wasn't getting signed without Yelich.
  9. We are replacing Aguilars ABs with Braun. Why are you guys so up in arms about losing a (likely) .750 OPS bat?
  10. Domingo Santana cannot play first base. It needs a sticky at the top of the forum. If that was even remotely possible don’t you think they would both be trying 1st base this spring. If I remember right this is something the Astros and was so bad he couldn’t see game action. Dude misses 5mph grounder you n the outfield. I can’t fathom one coming in fast with a bad bounce.
  11. But posting Price is Right and Princess bride stuff is not garbage and ok? No, I found that to be a little out there too. This off season has dragged on too long and the posts are all getting pretty iffy. Doesn’t help most of that is in response to garbage stuff already posted.
  12. Honestly if we don’t feel the need to upgrade the rotation this year I really doubt they will do it next year. Of course things can change (injury, suck, trade). You are looking at: 1. Chase Anderson 2. Jimmy Nelson 3. Zach Davies 4. Jhoulys Chacin 5. Brandon Woodruff 6. Corbin Burnes If they do sign someone I’d expect a lower end veteran if the need arises. I just don’t see the need, I really don’t. Woodruff will have a year under his belt and Burnes will get his feet wet potentially. Looking ahead I would plan for at least 4 of those guys to have promising years and lock up a 2019 rotational spot.
  13. It is not entertaining. Linking tweets from people with four followers is beyond even potentially plausible. It has now created a page of garbage. That is the problem.
  14. Graham is a better redzone target and also as far as we know isn't a horrible person like Martellus. Just because we struck out with Bennett doesn't mean Graham will be the same. And Wilkerson has been a monster at his best. He has a ton of incentive to have a big rebound year. If he does, that defensive front will be scary good. If he doesn't, it's a 1 year deal. Nothing not to like there. I’m talking face value Bennett and Graham are comparable FA splashes, not as players. Wilkerson is a lower end FA target($3mil low). The celebration like tides have changed is questionable to me. If they would have signed one of the big CBs, different story. Not like we started dropping big bucks. TT made these type of FA signings.
  15. So now everyone is going to get excited because we signed this years Bennett and a DL? Yup, so much more different. And this is coming from someone who wasn't complaining about them not doing anything jus so that is straight.
  16. Didn’t say it was, just how crazy the price a competent QB garners even in a flooded QB market.
  17. $20mil for Sam Bradford. What a time to be alive.
  18. I am going to lose all hope for this sub-forum if people didn't learn anything from the HH19(and other accounts on Twitter this winter) debacle. How many times does one get led to a desert to get water before they realize it is a desert.
  19. I guess I will never get the hate for this deal. This gives a lot of leverage to the Phillies if he does good and at worst it is done in 3 years if he does bad. If he does great for two years let him opt out and dance in the streets. If he does really good tack on three more years if YOU want to. For us we would have lost a a 3rd rounder? The only reason I am not upset the Brewers didn't make a deal like this is because our payroll would really be put towards maximum capacity at $25mil a season. I think it is a pretty good deal for a team like Philly though. I do find it a little funny people freak out when a deal is 5+ years saying "Way too long!", but when it is potentially getting 2 great years followed by an opt out it is "Whew! That would have been terrible losing a draft pick for that" The happy medium must be 3 years.
  20. LOL clear as mud. Typical Haudricourt response. I would think he would have a contact at MLB that could definitively answer the question, as I'm sure it has come up before. But nope, we are left guessing and speculating. Haudricourt...sucks, honestly. I am betting there is no way to drop him injured. Probably a protection in there somewhere.
  21. Not necessarily. Sometimes a team needs to see what they have in Spring Training before deciding if it's time to make a move. Like I said in the other thread, I'd bet he goes sometime this week, and while the return isn't going to be gangbusters, it'll be something most here are happy with. As long as you find a team that wants to start him. If you can only find a team wanting him for a platoon/competition or depth it will be basically nothing.
  22. Hoping to draw the Broxton talk here: If Broxton was worth anything even remotely close to a Top 100 prospects he would have been gone a long time ago.
  23. Zero chance of making the opening day roster.
  24. In my opinion Stearns is leaving to many potential holes. 2B could be a giant hole and the rotation could be a black hole real easily. Catcher is a big concern to me too. For anyone who says “July 31st” well the season is reaching the last third by then and you had 2/3 of suck which costs a lot of wins. That could eat your postseason hopes up. We are not a powerhouse. We need every win we can scrape up. We will be retooling for a push for a playoff spot. Not positioning for a better postseason team. We shall see how to prophet Stearns did soon enough.
  25. Having someone mash in AAA, as opposed to batting .220 in the majors gives a larger return, especially after having some major league experience. Well he has zero chance of making the team, so that is irrelevant. It is trade or AAA.
