  1. All he will do in the minors is mash AAA pitching at an old age and burn his last option. Might cause a loss of value instead.
  2. More speculation than anything.
  3. The season is quickly approaching and it sounds like Ryan Braun can’t play 1st base without destroying any offensive value he gives. Not a good look there David Stearns, better hope he starts getting comfortable. I would be a tad more optimistic, but it took forever to adjust from LF to RF for him(even then it was pretty bad). If this 1st base move is going bad so far watch out.
  4. If a player has a living preference that is usually something that leaks out pretty easily. Players are a lot of times open about that kind of thing. Usually location is vastly overrated. They are almost never home to actually do stuff during the season. Games are almost daily so free time really isn’t too common. Off days are usually spent on the road, not in Milwaukee. We have a roof so weather is irrelevant.
  5. With these prices it’s going to be a little disappointing at face value if we don’t get Cobb now.
  6. No one is arguing that. It is the fact at the height of his time he was rapid firing 15+ rumors a day and was getting new info all day. He knew so much info the person had to of been one of the Top 10 people in the organization. That just doesn’t make rational sense.
  7. David Stearns is not content/happy with what we currently have. Is anyone here content with that getting us to the promised land? No. The question is are we going to find a price to add that we are content with? David Stearns is definitely still actively trying to add a SP, aggressively. That doesn’t mean it will happen though.
  8. Can someone post Lance Lynn’s entire stat line from 2018, not just ERA? My internet is like half a year behind.
  9. Unless we get someone else I am going to be pretty mad we didn’t sign Lynn for $12mil and one year.
  10. Gotta love the people running to tell us they told everyone so. I guess it makes some feel good in their lives. Actually, not really. Nor did my part you quoted have to do anything with that. I’m saying that because that is exactly how people like him get caught. Many people were highly skeptical and were sure something was off. It’s a good life lesson to not do what HH19 did in any situation. Because it will catch up to you eventually.
  11. I am sorry, but I don’t believe HH was every treated wrongly. Maybe an occasional post, but almost every single person did nothing wrong while questioning him. Not like legitimate arguments weren’t being brought up on why he didn’t make sense or people should be skeptical. The entire situation just flat out did not make sense. I guess it makes sense why mods were starting to make fun of him. His comments never really added up and I’m surprised more people didn’t catch on faster. Played out exactly how I imagined. Got lucky a few times, got overconfident, started to not make sense and got caught up in the lies. **Really good life lesson here people.**
  12. So a team is going to lose half a year(of the most valuable year of the contract) to avoid giving up a draft pick on a player they value at $115mil(over $20mil average). Not buying that at all. The value of the draft pick is a drop in the bucket for a contract/player like that.
  13. You know what leads to drama? One-liner baiting posts. And you know what else leads to drama? Us still not signing Cobb or another SP in FA.
  14. It’s not about comparing players. It’s about allocating Capital properly, or at least more efficiently, and looking at opportunity cost. 1 of Dyson/Jackson/Gomez+ 1 of Lucroy/Avila+Walker+1 of Chatwood/Cobb>Cain. Let alone passing up Cain and any FA all together and just going to what was needed to get Darvish. Moustakas was 1.8 WAR, Cain was 5.3. Easy to see why one gets top dollar, and the other is unwanted. Moustakas - 11.6 WAR in a 7 year career (4 seasons with less than 1.2 WAR) Cain - 27.8 WAR in an 8 year career (2.9 WAR or more in last 5 years) What did Moustakas have on his side? Age? Is that even a big deal for a guy who is a borderline average starter? What next? We act shocked over negative WAR Coors product Carlos Gonzalez only getting one year?
  15. Some of you are trying to compare completely different players...it doesn’t work that way.
  16. These guys are on the wrong side of 30. They want a payday, not some team friendly 1 year deal.
  17. The ugly, now old, one was used in a lot of instances. Could not be happier to see it less.
  18. Not saying the barrelman is terrible, but it is right where it should be...in the past. That should not be seen on any sort of consistent basis. Maybe once a year for fun.
  19. Yep, and right now it seems that the Brewers have the leverage advantage, as there just doesn't seem to be a ton of interest in these guys at the numbers they are looking for. While it's frustrating for us as fans to wait, it makes really solid business sense for Stearns and the Brewers to draw a line in the sand and not cross it. I suppose it is also giving them the chance to really take a look at the starting pitching depth (or lack thereof) that they really have. Agreed. It should be interesting to see where things end up. There are many times where we think a player is going to take a big discount because the market is dead and suddenly they get the full market value we always thought they were going to get. At this point Cobb probably doesn’t have a lot to lose. The deal he can get now is probably not going to change before the end of the month. However maybe someone gets injured and he can capitalize on it. Who knows...guess we will see.
  20. More than I thought prior to you posting that list honestly. There are quite a few of those contracts that provided a ton of early contract value that is going past the mid-point. In my opinion if over half the mega contract ends up good and the later year still give value the contract overall isn't too bad. There are still a lot of scary duds though
  21. I wouldn't say that until these players sign. They could easily bump there price up tomorrow and Cobb will be a Brewer. Or Cobb could just as easily decide to get this crap over with, and accept the decent offer that I suspect the Brewers have already made to him and be a Brewer. Totally, that is the mystery. I just wouldn't assume we have set our price on all these pitchers and won't make an "overpay" suddenly. We could still be in the cat and mouse stage where we are trying to get a deal or below what we think their impact is worth. Maybe we think Cobb is worth 4/$65mil, but of course we would love to pay less. End of spring training maybe that isn't possible and it goes up.
  22. I wouldn't say that until these players sign. They could easily bump there price up tomorrow and Cobb will be a Brewer.
  23. The biggest part to adding another SP is to have a proven guy we know will lock down one of our top 3 spots. Sure it might push a worthy candidate out, but they will get their chance when someone flops or gets injured(which WILL happen). Hopefully that guy steps in and performs. That will be huge and could be responsible for many more wins. We have a lot of depth, but it is pretty high risk depth for fairly unstable rotation spot holders(as things stand today). That is a recipe for disaster. I’m a supporter of Cobb for sure and possibly Arrieta because you know they will lock down a spot. Even Lynn could be a great addition...though a little more risk there.
  24. This rotation is not being sold short at all. It is made up of guys coming off career years(with little track record of success) and guys either coming off terrible years, injury, or have no track record. You can make an argument for any of those 5 guys to be good this year, but for all 5 or even 3 of them is not very good odds. We are really depending on Anderson/Chacin/Davies to have similar or better years. If one flops or declines significantly we are likely in big trouble. Not saying they all won’t have good years, they could, but it would take a lot of things going our/their way.
