  1. Brent Suter can probably do good in a spot starter role. I just don't see that many dominant outings long term and I think he would be prone to too many stinker type outings. As mentioned the type of team he faces will have a big effect.
  2. Likely just being really caustious winning 7-0.
  3. Only connection to the Brewers I want Lucroy to have is watching us on his TV come October while he counts all the millions a greedy 31 year old free agent catcher lost waiting it out. Would be a story for the history books.
  4. Hard to complain about Shaw when Justin Turner isn't an All Star.
  5. Interesting teams aren't really trying to pitch inside to Arcia. Seems like an effective way to get weak contact out of him. Instead he gets lots of pitches outside where it's easy for him to Hit to center/right. 44 pitches for Miley to start it off...nice.
  6. The Brewers are trying to get going a player who put up All Star numbers last year. He is going to get a long leash and understandably so.
  7. Jeff Samardzija has been terrible at Miller Park in a pretty large sample. No thanks. Seems like it would end pretty poorly.
  8. Shuckers drop game two and split doubleheader with Barons Jacob Nottingham had a three-run double in the loss By Biloxi Shuckers . Biloxi Shuckers Box Score Quick Summary: It was a pretty rough day at the ballpark for Luis Ortiz. Ortiz was pulled after giving up 5 runs in two innings and failed to strikeout a single batter. It wasn't all that great for the offense either. The hot hitting Jacob Nottingham and Clint Coulter both recorded a double with Nottingham's knocking in three. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Luis Ortiz (2.0 IP, 7 H, 5 ER) started the game while Javier Salas (2.2 IP, 4 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K), and Travis Hissong (1.1, 2 K) provided the relief. Hitting Summary: Clint Coulter (1-3, 2B, R) Jacob Nottingham (1-3, 2B, 3 RBI) Dustin DeMuth (1-2, R, RBI) Biloxi Shuckers Game Log Jacob Nottingham doubles in three. Biloxi Top of the 3rd Gabriel Noriega singles on a line drive to right fielder Jeff Gelalich. Dustin DeMuth walks. Gabriel Noriega to 2nd. Wendell Rijo flies out softly to right fielder Jeff Gelalich. Johnny Davis singles on a line drive to right fielder Jeff Gelalich. Gabriel Noriega to 3rd. Dustin DeMuth to 2nd. Angel Ortega grounds into a force out, third baseman Cameron Seitzer to catcher Alfredo Gonzalez. Gabriel Noriega out at home. Dustin DeMuth to 3rd. Johnny Davis to 2nd. Angel Ortega to 1st. Jacob Nottingham doubles (18) on a ground ball to left fielder Jake Peter. Dustin DeMuth scores. Johnny Davis scores. Angel Ortega scores. Pitching Change: Connor Walsh replaces Scott Snodgress. Michael Choice grounds out, third baseman Cameron Seitzer to first baseman Nick Basto.
  9. Peralta strikes out career-high 10 batters in first Double-A win Shuckers take third straight in game one of Sunday's doubleheader By Biloxi Shuckers Clint Coulter launches his team-leading eighth home run in Friday night's win in Birmingham (Mark P Driscoll) Biloxi Shuckers Box Score Quick Summary: Freddy Peralta followed up his 9 strikeout Double-A debut with a 10 strikeout gem today. After giving up 1 run in the first inning Peralta settled in to go 5 strong innings. On the down side it took 104 pitches and only 61 were for strikes. Clint Coulter and Jacob Nottingham continued their hot streaks both driving in a run respectively in the 3-1 win. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Freddy Peralta (5.0 IP, 5 H, ER, 3 BB, 10 K) started the game while Nick Ramirez (2.0 IP, 3K) provided the relief. Hitting Summary: Clint Coulter (1-3, 2B, RBI) Jacob Nottingham (1-3, RBI) Angel Ortega (1-4, 2B, R, RBI) Biloxi Shuckers Game Log Clint Coulter doubles in a run. Biloxi Top of the 6th Defensive Substitution: Hunter Jones replaces center fielder Jeff Gelalich, batting 8th, playing center field. Jacob Nottingham strikes out swinging. Michael Choice singles on a ground ball to center fielder Hunter Jones. Blake Allemand flies out to center fielder Hunter Jones. Clint Coulter doubles (10) on a ground ball to left fielder Nick Basto. Michael Choice scores. Clint Coulter to 3rd on the throw. Javier Betancourt grounds out, shortstop Eddy Alvarez to first baseman Cameron Seitzer.
  10. Brinson isn't a must to get Quintana. We have plenty of quality prospects where we don't have to give up our #1 guy. I doubt we go after anyone that could garner Brinson, but if we did we could do it with other guys.
  11. Wish Shaw would have made it, but knew he likely wouldn't. Sadly for him deep 3B crop this year.
  12. False. Matt Garza has been perfectly serviceable. Davies/Guerra both have been terrible though.
  13. When healthy time for Woodruff to take the spot of either Guerra or Davies. That or time to plan to acquire a replacement this month.
  14. I agree with your figure in the original post. That is about what Adrelton Simmons got and they are pretty darn similar all things considered. Simmons has better defense, but Arcia probably has a more highly regarded bat when it comes to potential. If he finishes out the season the 7/$57mil offer would be pretty accurate. However I would spread the money out more so the later years are not 16/20mil. Orlando Arcia will command a lot more than say a Villar type because his defense gives him a high floor. That makes it more risk for Arcia and less for us so we have to pay up for it. If Arcia continues to hit at this level through next year you will be paying a lot more than $55mil for a contract.

  16. I have heard that all year and yet here we are. At this point the Brewers are just as likely to get hot and win the division as anyone else. Lets not forget the Rockies who are free falling(1-9 L10) so the second wild card spot could easily be up for grabs as we work deeper into the second half.
  17. Why was Keston Hiura sent to Arizona? Easier to work on throwing?
  18. Someone stated July 4th as World Series or bust. We have a 3 game lead which means at least a piece of 1st place on July 4th. What will it cost to get Sonny Gray and Jose Quintana.
  19. Arcia deserved that ice cream today. Bixoli Arcia been showing up the last month or so.
  20. And Keon Broxton strikes out two times in one inning.
  21. Yah he has been something special for us this year. Deserves an All Star bid.
  22. Orlando Arcia repping a .280 average these days.
  23. Gray isn't worth Ray/Brinson/Ortiz/+ and the Brewers are definitely not going to give that up. Attanasio said he won't pressure Stearns and Stearns really seems like the type that would avoid such a trade at this stage.
