  1. Orlando Arcia + <2 outs + Man on 3rd = no runs every time Dude couldn't hit a fly ball when we need it to save his life.
  2. You can buy a parking pass at the game. They are pricey on the weekends, but it is what it is. There is also a general parking lot for a touch cheaper. Get there early and tailgate if you want. If not walk around the outside of the park and take it in. Personally I recommend going in right away so you can explore the stadium(90mins prior to game time) Watch some batting practice is always fun to watch. Last I checked Brewers seating staff isn't strict and will let you go down by the dugouts before game time so you can get some good pictures.
  3. I find some of these interviews fascinating. I wasn't aware some of these guys sit around fielding calls all day with offers to draft them or not. I guess that is why you don't see a lot of guys not signing. Not only do teams know what a player is looking for, but they literally agree to basic terms right before the selection is made.
  4. If I had the guess I think that is going to be one of the main jobs Hader will do. When they were prepping him for the bullpen role he was throwing 2 innings. So he may be doing the 6th and 7th a lot when the starter can't go 6 innings. I doubt we see him throwing the 7th and 8th all that often unless the normal back end is overworked the days prior.
  5. When did Hader grow 8 inches? He's 6'3". That qualifies as lanky to some. We're not talking Freddie Norman here. For you kids, Norman was a 5'8" lefty who was a pretty effective starter for the Reds back in the day. That is not lanky for a professional baseball player. Lanky for a pro ball player would be at least 6'5". 6'3" is more like the typical height not the height to start blaming your control on.
  6. We Didn't get much for Sparta and he was 27, better offensively overall in his career, defense that was highly regarded, and had at least one good season offensively(2011) previously. No one is going to give us something worthwhile for a 31 year old Sogard. If we fall out of the race of course we will trade him. I would expect little to nothing though. He sure won't bring back enough where I would trade him if we were still competing.
  7. I vote we get a little more strict on keeping trade discussions in it's rightful forum. I understand it comes up sometimes in other discussions(and I am guilty of of it too sometimes), but my gosh I might go insane. Every thread I open is talking about trading said player or something along those lines.
  8. Exactly. The amount of games left progressively gets smaller and smaller. With that the chance to get lucky or have one hot streak carry you gets more possible. Over the course of 162 games would I pick the Brewers to out win the Cubs? Heck no. But it could happen over 2.5 months(proof of that already) and if August hits and we are still neck and neck why can't it happen again? Now I still doubt it happens, but I think the potential is a lot more real than some make it. The Cubs will go on hot streak, but guess what we will too. They will also go on lengthy streaks of poor baseball just like we will. The thing that makes it possible is I don't think the Cubs are built this year to go on incredibly long streaks or avoid long slumps as a team. It will pull them down towards .500. Barring major moves I would expect the NL Central to be had with 86-92 wins. I don't think it will be won at 95+ which makes it anyone's game.
  9. Right. I thought we were toast after his slow start and really toast after the Mets botched a deal over physical issues. Seemed pretty clear he was trending the wrong way and fast forward he totally did.
  10. Marcos Diplan was also in the Gallardo trade and is a very intriguing pitching prospect. He gets a lot of hate, but he did a phenomenal job setting up the rebuild and handing it over to Stearns. Stearns couldn't have fallen into a better situation than he did here. Not a whole lot wrong when he stepped in. Only major problem was inability to draft well. We shall see if he can fix that ship.
  11. Neshek is really old, a rental, and does not have a dominant track record. A 10-20 in our system would be a good return.
  12. We have held them off for what? 2.5 months. So why can't we. See the great thing about the Cubs is so many players are coming off big seasons and/or are expensive so they won't try to improve those guys. You could say they that gives them a good chance to rebound, but their rotation is old. Very possible those guys don't really rebound anywhere close to last years numbers.
  13. Just for future reference your bonus pool is only the first 10 rounds if I remember correctly. So there is no advantage to drafting a college senior after the 10th round.
  14. Guessing the Brewers are using the "If we can just sign one(or a few or whatever) of these guys" mind set. See which they can get to bite on the money.
  15. Corey Knebel as the lone representative. His stats are ridiculous. Shaw would be second and Anderson would be up there too if I thought he could keep it up. Thames...haha no. Way too terrible after his hot start. Doesn't deserve it at all.
  16. They have money to spare, but I don't know if they will have McClanahan Money. They took a couple guys who should be little to none to sign which will add a good $300k, they get $100k towards a post 10th round guy anyway, Hiura should save $500k, and then if they really wanted to they can go $500k over their pool if they pay the 75% overage fee. It depends on if Lutz will be overslot(and by how much) and if Hiura is well under slot. *I did this really quick and very generalized. *I am making a strong assumption Hiura was targeted to be in part a notably underslot signing. He is at least 300k under possibly even more than $500k. Outside of other teams looking to sign him as a underslot guy he didn't get much buzz inside the Top 20 where slot bonuses quickly dip to $2mil range.
  17. I don't remember saying definitively, but yah...I will trust a bunch of general scouting reports over an award, easily.
  18. Ramirez does it all in Shuckers win over Jacksonville Nick Ramirez hit a grand slam and earned his fourth win on Tuesday By Biloxi Shuckers Nick Ramirez hit his third Shuckers grand slam in the sixth inning on Tuesday night (Hunter Reed) Biloxi Shuckers Box Score Quick Summary: Nick Ramirez carried the Shuckers with his hitting and his batting today. Ramirez was converted to be a pitcher, but clearly his bat still has some life. Forrest Snow, who started the game, also had a solid day going four scoreless to help the Shuckers win 5-2. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Forrest Snow (4.0 IP, 5 H, 4 K) started the game while Nick Ramirez (3.0 IP, 2 H, K), Josh Uhen (1.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, BB, 4 K), and Matt Ramsey (0.1 IP, 1 K) provided the relief. Hitting Summary: Mauricio Dubon (2-5) Nick Ramirez (2-2, HR, 4 RBI) Dustin DeMuth (3-4, HR, RBI) Biloxi Shuckers Game Log Biloxi Bottom of the 6th Pitching Change: Junichi Tazawa replaces Chris Mazza, batting 9th. Dustin DeMuth singles on a bunt ground ball to third baseman Brian Anderson. Clint Coulter strikes out swinging. Angel Ortega singles on a ground ball to right fielder John Norwood. Dustin DeMuth to 2nd. Johnny Davis singles on a ground ball to left fielder Alex Glenn. Dustin DeMuth to 3rd. Angel Ortega to 2nd. Javier Betancourt strikes out swinging. Nick Ramirez hits a grand slam (2) to right field. Dustin DeMuth scores. Angel Ortega scores. Johnny Davis scores. Mauricio Dubon singles on a bunt ground ball to third baseman Brian Anderson. Pitching Change: Daniel Schlereth replaces Junichi Tazawa, batting 9th. With Blake Allemand batting, Mauricio Dubon steals (29) 2nd base. Blake Allemand grounds out, shortstop Chris Diaz to first baseman Taylor Ard.
  19. I know Trevor Rosenthal is really good....but he was clearly lost from the start. After two walks he should have cut the cord. After Shaw's AB it just seemed obvious....but nope.
  20. You would judge the entire pick based solely on the fact he might have tommy john? He is a positional player. If we sent him in today he should be ready to go at the start of the season or very early in the season.
  21. That is really bullish for a guy just drafted in the 9th round as a senior sign. However I know nothing about him so I won't judge your evaluation too much.
  22. Defense isnt that good? What kind of weed are you smoking, ACC defensive player of the year brah Ahh you are one of those guys that likes silly awards, right? He only had two errors, but his range isn't anything to write home about. From what I have read his arm is questionable still after surgery. He can play SS, but without the range he won't be that good over there. When I say "not that good" I am not saying it sucks. Just saying it isn't good for a guy who doesn't have much of a bat. His defense isn't good enough to carry his bat. If the guy doesn't walk, has zero power, and has below average speed he depends entirely on average. He sounds like a huge long shot to be a utility player and we drafted him in the 6th round. I don't really care because I fully expect that he was drafted to sign underslot. Try to be a little more mature next time though.
  23. approx. $100k I think they gave their 9th round senior sign last year $25k. Can write down another for the 10th round too. That is basically what all teams start doing in the second half of the first 10 rounds. If you look there was a single high schooler drafted in the 9th round(8 since the start of the 6th round). It is all guys they can get for at slot or under slot. It probably isn't a big deal regardless. I doubt it takes that much extra to bring in Lutz and as mentioned the Brewers already know what they need to bring him in. Yeah I noticed that too about the 9th round. Pretty standard strategy as you said. Our guy could hit in college though. So that's some upside I guess. Appears as though he was pretty good defensively too. Edit: And another college senior in round 10 as predicted. All but one of the first 13 picks in round 10 were. Yeah senior signs aren't assured to be terrible. Usually not very high ceilings. Blake Allemand was one and he is doing pretty well at AA this year. Dustin DeMuth was also a senior sign that was a bat.
