  1. Debatable, but what isn't debatable is the play call(s) The right play call would have been like what they did later in the game on 3 and 1 where they faked the handoff and Rodgers rolled out.
  2. Wow is McCarthy an idiot. 3 and 1 and gets stopped on a predictable play call. Then goes for it on his own 40 and calls an even more predictable play that gets stuffed in the backfield. 7 point mistake how stupid can a coach be.
  3. Regarding the thumb are you going off of comments soon after the procedure? When was the last time his thumb being a problem occurred in a story or interview? Back problems resolve. Its not unusual to have back issues that are chronic. I do. He had a surgical procedure on a disc. That's not all back problems. I recall a comment by him that the doctors told him it would take a full year following the procedure for the scar tissue to break up and to return to full health. That would mean that his performance last season was negatively affected by recovery which is now complete. I know Braun mentions it from time to time. It wasn't a huge issue last season for him, but I recall him mentioning it at least once or twice. I think the back issues were talked about and overshadowed the thumb Hopefully his thumb doesn't bother him too much going forward. The back is sort of a mystery going forward. I know Braun felt great last season, but that doesn't mean it won't be a problem going forward. Between his hamstring issues, thumb, and back it is probably safe to say in the next 4 years something will nag him. It's no for sure thing, but it is a sizable risk teams have to consider when putting together their valuation of Braun.
  4. Forget the $500 blender there is a $125 picture frame, $70 glassware, and a $125 serving bowl.
  5. Braun's thumb has not and never will resolve. He has admitted that before that it will likely linger for the rest of his playing career. Back injuries almost mever(maybe never) resolve. Those tend to be pretty chronic. Braun has injury issues himself that could very well negatively effect him the coming years.
  6. That's exactly why I hate the Chicago area. Filled with materialistic people that spend $1000+ on everyday items because they are designer brand. Must be a big city thing to stand out. I remember growing up(small town) the Superintendent of my district(obviously good money) drove a piece of junk pickup truck worth less than the coat you speak of.
  7. Berman is annoying with the derby. Then again talking about how annoying he is gets more attention than the actual derby itself.
  8. Totally agree on the Giants. They are an underrated team. Part of me would have preferred going to Seattle just because they have been so poor of late.
  9. Their Super Bowl already happened when rumors started about Thompson stepping down.
  10. All it will take is a bad playoff performance and they'll be out in full force. That's their favorite time to come out of the woodworks.
  11. You could probably become a reliever/hitter, but you would likely be better off commiting to just one.
  12. Even though Puig has some nice seasons under his belt Puig's value is not very high. De Leon would be way more attractive/valuable. We also have no idea who the two prospects were that could go for us. Probably pretty far down prospect lists than some like to think. You seem pretty upset that the rumors don't agree with your thoughts on Braun's value. While not all rumors are 100%, there is truth to most of them. I doubt the many rumors about Braun's lack of value are 100% garbage. Good chance they are mostly true. Also MLBTR didn't say anything. What you are referring to is a completely different source which does matter. Some sources are more reliable than others as I am sure you know.
  13. A 3 team deal with Puig makes little to no sense. Do you guys think that is going to get us the great prospects we all want? If so you are sadly mistaken. If Puig was worth anything not worthy prospect wise the Dodgers would have traded him long ago. Trading Puig for prospects is not going to net anything great.
  14. If that was the case he would have been decent at 3B, not taken years to be decent in LF, or would have been able to transition to RF. However none of those things ever happened. History says he can't do it or would take years to transition at 1B to be decent
  15. Agree with the first paragraph, then you lost me. I don't believe for a minute that fan reaction would play any role in Stearns decision to trade him, or Mark A preventing him from doing so. They just traded Lucroy, and in the recent past they have moved Gomez, two guys the fans really loved. Not to mention letting Fielder walk, traded Yo, traded Hardy, moved on from Weeks/Hart. I think even casual fans "get" what they're trying to do in general, if not every specific move. And even if they didn't there's just no way that would prevent a trade. Based on everything I've read and heard, seems very simple. Stearns is asking for more than the Dodgers (or anyone else)are willing to give- at least for now. If you were making a trade mostly to save money backlash does matter. Braun is different from all those players. I'd imagine attendance would see a significant drop among other things. If you are trying to save money attendance dropping by the thousands would negate a lot of the gain. If the return is already questionable concerns over fan reaction can play a role in how badly they would want to trade him.
  16. The Brewers would love to trade Braun. The Brewers don't want all that salary obligation when they are unlikely to compete. Ryan Braun is worth very little if we aren't competing. Actually he probably has a lot of negative value as attendance and other revenue streams drop we still have to pay him $18mil. Only reason he is still a Brewers is probably because they fear a lot of backlash from casual fans. If fans understood why it might make sense to trade Braun and save money it would have been done by now. Instead a good majority of fans will throw a fit and claim they are saving money to stick in their own pockets etc if fancy names aren't coming back.
  17. Seattle is a wreck right now. I wouldn't be too concerned regardless of the location. Definitely a winnable game.
  18. One win from running the table. Crazy to think with how bad things looked so soon ago. Packers can either beat the Lions to win the division likely being the #4 seed or they can have the Redskin lose instead getting the #6 seed.
  19. The fact Encarnacion only got 3 years is pretty problematic for us trying to trade Braun. If teams are only giving a DH(hypothetically should age better) 3 years how interested can teams possibly be in Braun for 4 years and all his health issues? It seems those rumors of little to no interest in Braun are probably right judging by Encarnacion's deal.
  20. It is actually win/loss for conference games. Next up would be the similar opponents record. I hadn't checked it recently, but our win streak now has us with the same NFC conference record. However with that being said they have the better record vs. similar opponents(last I checked). So it still stands to even have a shot at a wildcard we would need Tampa Bay to lose out.
  21. That is what I thought. I wouldn't be shocked if any player hit their number, but man I would bet the over on all of them.
  22. All players have value even minor leaguers. From a few trades I have looked at surplus value numbers get pretty close to matching up. A lot of people think the Eaton trade is bad, but the teams traded off similar surplus value respectively.
  23. There really isn't much of a back door way into the playoffs. Because not winning the division means we went 1-1. If that loss comes to the Vikings you are really in trouble, and if that loss comes to the Lions it's still not good. To put it simply you would need the Bucs to lose out, Redskins to lose 2/3 of their remaining games, and if we lose to the Vikings you would then need the Vikings to lose to Chicago week 17. I mean sure I guess that could happen. However all three of those teams have pretty light schedules. I sure wouldn't bet on that happening.
  24. I am sure the PED issue has some kind of negative effect. He gets popped again and you lose him for 2/3 of a year. Sure you get the money back, but teams are also trading prospects. So such things have to be taken into consideration. Most of the value one is trading for is for the next to years. If he lost almost a full season that would eat a ton of the value you were trading for. That being said is this really a major concern? That seems a bit surprising.
  25. Using the kernels of your logic, if Dombrowski called Stearns last year to offer David Ortiz for Hernan Perez and an A- pitching prospect if the Brewers would pay Ortiz's full 2016 salary, Stearns should've hung up on him if he didn't accept only Tyrone Taylor as the return since the Brewers would've picked up all of Ortiz's contract and Ortiz is 40 years old, can only DH, and has a growing history of worsening foot issues. Well yah I wouldn't want to give up an A- pitching prospect for David Ortiz. What is wrong with that? However that example is a bit troubling because his contracts have been short and cheap in recent history not really a good comp for Braun.
