  1. A win against Creighton or whoever in the conference tourney would be enough since it should be a decent team considering they have a first round bye. Big win for them.
  2. No, looks about the same.
  3. There are no shortcuts, but there is also no timeline. How can you say they aren't ready? If young guys come up and show their potential this team will be ready pretty fast. Doesn't need to take 3+ more years. That being said I would be shocked if they were 50-40. But if they were time to maybe think the rebuilding phase could be done. COULD...
  4. Marquette is in a lot of trouble because they have to go 2-1 over their next three games just to stay where they are(possibly not even in). Doesn't help that two other Big East teams are on the bubble(Providence/Seton Hall) and one of which they just lost to for the second straight time. Lose in the opening round of the Big East tourney and they will be on the wrong side of those other bubble teams. Doesn't help teams like TCU/Kansas State might get to pop shots at Kansas/WVU/Baylor among other high quality tournament bound teams to sweeten their resume. If Marquette wants to punch their ticket they need to beat Creighton and then win a tournament game(winning both regular season games would probably suffice too). If they don't do that who knows what will happen.
  5. Umm, well depends a lot of how you got to 50-40. If it is the All Star break Brinson/Hader are on the team. If they are making dreams come to fruition it is a mix of #1 and #3. I am not going all in, but I would definitely be trying low profile moves to bolster a hole/bullpen. At 50-40 it is a no brainer to try and compete to some extent. No way you are trading away any meaningful player especially if they are controllable. At that record you are probably holding a postseason spot. No management is trading away contributors while holding a postseason spot. Now if we are like 45-45 then I probably do little to nothing and if we have any players who are FAs after the season I would trade them if I get a good deal.
  6. The Atlanta Braves retire those numbers and remember those players because they are apart of that organizations history. They have zero connection to the Milwaukee Brewers organization. You would essentially be remembering players of a different organization.
  7. Haha Angel Salome. That's a good throwback in that article.
  8. Wow has the Wisconsin Badgers hit a new low of lows. I was actually excited to see what they could do this year(even as a none Wisconsin fan), but this team just hasn't performed even in the slightest. As a coach you have to keep your team together and Gard has failed to do so. Wisconsin could easily be a one and done team that's how poor they look these days.
  9. Every player should be on a case to case basis. Spring training is used for more than just getting players ready for the regular season. No player needs just a week. The length allows them to slowly ease players into every day playing. Rush it and you will have an injury list longer than the Mississippi. A lot of the length is probably to get pitchers ready. You have to remember most of these players sit on their butt for a good 1-2 months and don't really start baseball activities till spring training(or close to it). Of course every player is different.
  10. The $100 is likely just so the Brewers have an option to take if they decide they want none of the players. Having to acquire a player etc. can get costly and could cost the Brewers a 40 man spot for someone they don't want.
  11. BS tweet...let the speculation end.
  12. I am betting $20mil is quite the life changing money in the Dominican Republic.
  13. That would make zero sense for the Brewers. Why would they garauntee his arby salaries and get no FA years out of it? If it is 4 years it would have the be way less than $34mil. Any deal would have to be 5+ years or include attractive cheap option(s). 4/$20mil wouldn't really be a bad deal for Villar if it just went through his arby years.
  14. Jonathan Villar had an amazing year from start to finish and the scouts think he is legit after watching him all year. Thats probably why he passed it up. It is a common sense move to try and lock up a player like Villar cheap. These offers happen way more than they are reportsed. I wish him luck on this dangerous endeavor of passing up on so much money. I think he will have another great year and still be worth that or more come next offseason. Never known though. He is different from guys like Segura/McGehee though. Segura was like a 2 month wonder and probably a bad extension idea even at the time. McGehee came out of no where and was never really highly regarded. Jonathan Villar was a pretty good prospect and had some success in sporadic MLB at-bats before we got him.
  15. Only 1 current player makes it to 2020? So 50-60 win team and waivers forthcoming to this current squad? Well, I suppose I can say 2 current players with Susac. Yah there are too many young players on this team for that to happen. Not only that, but too much money not being spent where a handful of players don't get some type of long term deal. If our team is pretty much all pre arby players I don't have much confidence in the organization. That team should be competing(at least trying) and I don't think a team loaded with pre arby guys can even do that.
  16. Yah there are a ton of tickets left. Finaly most of the infield tickets have sold, but other than that....wow.
  17. They were a #5(or possibly worse) on the 11th. They have now lost two straight games to unranked opponents. They are likely a 7/8 seed as we speak.
  18. At least for Wisconsin they have an easy schedule coming up...then again probably more like a nightmare for them the way they are playing. They better hold on to part of the Big 12 champion crown or win the conference tourney. If not they will not get a very generous seed. I have always thought they were an 8 or so seed at best. They are now supporting that thought. That being said winning the conference and the conference tourney can still get them a 4-5 seed by default.
  19. Oh Suter is going to be an All Star.
  20. Brewers Record: 73-89 Playoffs: No Brewers MVP: Ryan Braun Brewers CY Young: Josh Hader Brewers ROY: Josh Hader First player traded: Scooter Gennett Surprise player: Domingo Santana Disappointing player: Orlando Arcia World Series: Cubs over Indians Im not that big of a Hader fan(as a starter), but I think he has the stuff to look pretty good as a rookie. Kind of like how Guerra pitched like an ace even though he is no where near one. Santana if healthy can surprise a lot of people and I just don't think Arcia will hit. Team is getting better for the future, but I don't expect the record to reflect it.
  21. Pretty sure Arcia is not a rookie.
  22. Ryan Braun because he likes saying it and his health will be questioned.
  23. I'm guessing ATI is short on money to blow on arena clubs so a new one in the Bucks arena probably wasn't in store anyway.
  24. Just aren't going to get love when your schedule is weak(ish) and the good teams you did play you lost more than you won. Wisconsin just does not scream top team to me.
  25. Clinton-Dix was bidding Shields farewell and threw in this tidbit:
