  1. To be fair Pomeranz is a starting pitcher in a weak trade market for them with a weak FA market to come. If I remember right he was a pretty highly regarded prospect too and he is pitching like an ace. Not to mention he is controllable for two more years cheaply. No one is desperate for a catcher. There are many different ways to upgrade your offense. However there aren't so many ways to upgrade your pitching and the options are limited. The Red Sox were desperate to get pitching and that is what they did. Is there really a team that desperate for Lucroy? Moral of the story you can't really compare Pomeranz and Lucroy.
  2. Yup, that was probably their only major move of the deadline.
  3. Wait to freak out till the evening of August 1st. Till then sit back, grabs beer, and wait.
  4. We all have difficulties...but the MLB players have it easy. Really easy.
  5. Less than 24 hours before this post, you said any sensible person would hold out for more money, now you say it does not make sense to not sign. Umm yup? That is correct? He needs to hold out for every last penny, but that didn't mean not to sign. Not sure why you took that as he shouldn't sign
  6. Jordan, in my opinion, has a pretty high floor. All his pitches should be decent at the MLB level and he has great control. Problem is at this stage his ceiling isn't anything to get excited about.
  7. I see two reasons why RP are fickle: 1. They only rely on one main pitch and likely one change of pace pitch. If their main pitch regresses and isn't dominant there goes that reliever. You see it all the time with the velocity dependent relievers. If Will Smith's slider regressed he wouldn't be very good. 2. The honeymoon phase that a lot of starters go through happens to relievers too sometimes. The difference is a reliever only pitches 70ish innings a year so it can last a full year or more. With all due respect to Jeffress fans that guy should be traded sooner rather than later. I think the same with Smith although a bit less. Both of those guys could fizzle into average at best arms faster than you can blink.
  8. You dont get it all, because youre not thinking Braun will object to any trade. I wonder if he'd rather stay in Milwaukee, barring the trade going to a team/city he desires. Say Detroit wanted him for trade. Braun has 0 desire to go. End of trade. Thats what 10+5 rights give him. What are you doing to convince Braun to accept Detroit as his new home/team? You said: "Any trade after the season requires approval by Braun. The six teams Braun has himself available to trade to, well you'd assume he'd still consider a trade to those 6. But the other teams in the league?" So...what's the difference? If he still considers those 6 teams we are in no different of a position than we are now. I don't think he would veto a trade(maybe ask for extra money) because there is nothing glamorous about Milwaukee. It isn't home and if he isn't wanted here I am sure he would be happy to leave. I just don't get the feeling Ryan Braun wants to stay in Milwaukee at all costs. He could of course, like you said, veto a trade by flat out saying no. However, I just don't see it.
  9. Jason Groome can be mad all he wants, but passing up on $4mil would not make much sense. It just makes him one year older and he would need to be picked Top 6 or so next year to get that kind of money. Even higher to actually make it worth it. There is very little reason to pass up $4m on his part. Heck many teams would probably be pretty scared to draft him if he were to not sign this year. Take the $4mil and get going Groome.
  10. I don't get that at all. You can always convince a player to waive his no trade clause. Trading him now vs. after the season is really not much of a difference.
  11. Who said he is trying to cherry pick his destination? The kid knows he has the Red Sox upside down hanging from a tree. He knows the Red Sox will crack and give him most if not all of their remaining bonus pool money. He is doing what any other sensible human being would do in his situation.
  12. Couple thoughts IndyCrew: 1. We all need to take a breather. There is a long way to go before the deadline. Things have yet to really pick up, though things do tend to start moving after the All Star game. If we rewind a full year it was no different with Gomez and he was actually having a bad year unlike Lucroy. 2. Even the worst offer will be better than a comp pick. Lucroy is not going to be a Brewers come October of next year.
  13. If he gets an offer he really likes, like hard to pass up, he would then ask for final offers. For instance if that Indians offer earlier in the thread was offered DS would give other teams 24/48 hours to up theirs or he would be an Indian. Of course a team could say "take it or leave it" forcing Stearns to make a decision without asking other teams, but that probably isn't a great tactic in the baseball world.

  15. I don't understand why you're saying Thornburg isn't valuable. He's been awesome and is more valuable than Smith to me. I think Smith has more value, but I agree on not understanding why people on this board don't like Tyler Thornburg.
  16. That is because Aaron Hill was a no name. No one cares about following Aaron Hill and where he will be traded to in the baseball media world. Not really comparable to Lucroy. It is interesting Lucroy rumors haven't existed. At least Braun has had his name connected to a team recently(Giants).
  17. If I was the Brewers I would totally do that because of the elite prospects, but I bet if we did this deal and then did a simulation as if we traded them separately the later would end up better. Yah the top prospects are shiny, but this robs so many lottery tickets we could have had if dealt elsewhere. Probably could end up with 10+ more solid or lottery type guys if they were dealt separate. You are robbing yourself the shot at the Michael Brantley and Marcos Diplan's of the baseball world.
  18. I would be very upset if the Brewers wait until August 1st to deal Lucroy. There is nothing left to prove, he's been rock solid the last 3 months. If I'm Stearns, I tell clubs that we are accepting final offers in the next couple days. The best offers are negotiated and he's gone. One little injury and the haul is gone. There has got to be an offer out there that he'd accept. His value will never be higher than right now. You must not understand how the trade deadline works. Many teams aren't ready to wheel and deal yet. The dominos have yet to fall and the only way big time players move now is if we get blown away.
  19. The first thing I wondered is why the company isn't trying to sell the rights to a "PokeStop". I mean if you were a candy store or some other business that is attractive to kids it could be a type of advertisement to lure in potential costumers.
  20. Pretty good if it legitimately didn't ever have paint in it. Probably will give you a new one regardless. Seeing they probably have pallets of them. Try to tweet them a photo or tweet @MILauthentics. The later may be easier to get a reply from.
  21. Basically it's Pokemon, but you literally have to go catch them. There are PokeStops where you refuel to get stuff and then there are different locations for gyms...where you battle. It is kind of funny because when you find a Pokemon it uses you camera and puts the little character on the screen where you flick balls at it. It doesn't make you special because all cities have them. I was never into Pokemon, but I tried it anyway. It's a very interesting concept and it gets you up and active if you want to catch them. It gives you something to do on a walk I guess. Reminds me of when I was a kid and on roadtrips we always played that alphabet game etc. to not get bored.
  22. Don't see Ryan Braun getting traded anymore at this point. He has come back down to earth production wise and the trade market for outfielders is pretty well stocked. Don't see a team jumping through all the hoops to add a sketchy Braun long term. Maybe in the offseason there will be more hope.
  23. Gosh darn it for Villar safely stealing 3rd base with two outs!
  24. Wow if this is how you guys react to Davies losing $24k I can't wait to see the threads when we intentionally delay service time clocks next year. That, honestly, is probably 100x worse and costs many players millions. Boras threw out the bait and you guys took it.
  25. The Rockies aren't competing and they are trying to develop pitching since they can't get it on the open market.
