  1. I believe there was one guy in the 1960s that is the only man in history to manage a loss while throwing a no-hitter by himself.
  2. Why would it be a no hitter if a hit was given up in the game? If someone on your team gives up a hit there cannot be a no hitter. Does not matter how many innings you personally go. If that is the scenario you are proposing. You can lose the game(give up runs) and have a no hitter though.
  3. My first thoughts: .341 BABIP compared to his .291 career mark .375 ISO compared to his .279 career mark A massive regression is to come at some point. I think best case scenario you have a 2014 type Chris Carter...maybe slightly better due to playing at Miller Park. So what is the value of that? Probably not as much as one would wish. I think if he can keep it up at least to 2014 standards you could probably get something interesting, but not Top 100 prospect good. They could always hold onto him and hope Miller Park can inflate his numbers for the rest of the year or till next July. At that point you could probably get a team to give something up good, but you also run they risk of him doing even worse and being worth little. Personally I think you deal him at the deadline unless the offers are really underwhelming.
  4. Not by definition. No hitters and perfect games must be 9 innings
  5. I was going to reply, but I will wait for you to copy/paste that and make a new thread because it is a good topic. I don't want to derail this thread into multiple topics though.
  6. Perez has much more of a track record than Walsh and he's a year and a half younger. Walsh has patience and a great eye. That's his lone skill. It's taken him until his age 26 to make the big leagues where he's 1 for 19. I don't usually agree with Mr.Briggs, but I am here. Perez is better than Walsh and deserves to start over him. Only reason Colin Walsh is even on the MLB roster is because of being a Rule 5 guy. I would rather see what Perez can provide and see if he is worth holding onto at the end of the season. Walsh seems, and probably rightfully so, like he is just being stashed and back to the minors next year. Giving him sporadic at-bats when he looks over matched probably wouldn't do anything useful. Not saying I expect anything out of Perez, but he is better and I would rather watch him. I just don't think the Brewers are all that serious about giving Walsh at-bats, but we shall see. For the record I actually don't even prefer to have Perez there...I would rather give the at-bats to Yadiel Rivera. However if picking between Walsh/Perez I pick Perez.
  7. Well mathematically we are...
  8. They switched Davies to Friday already...it was Anderson. Not clear what they are doing with Anderson, but looks like they might skip him to keep Peralta on schedule since he is still penciled in on Saturday.
  9. Then you play 82 games at home and 738+ innings some one is likely to have a major injury. nice, so you're expecting us to make the playoffs!!!! Umm what?
  10. And now the first game I go to this year will feature Zach Davies...lovely. (Not that Chase Anderson was any better)
  11. This is pretty much expected from this set of pitchers =Jimmy Nelson - Solid but inconsistent. Expected =Wily Peralta - Rough start. People hoped he would rebound, but not surprising he has not. =Taylor Jungmann - Fell back down to earth. Not surprising at all. =Chase Anderson - #5 type pitcher as expected. =Zach Davies - Maybe the most overrated player in awhile. He is 6' and weighs 155 pounds according to BR.com and people are expecting a sub 4 ERA and a #3 starter. Will never get the excitement for him. =Bullpen - A bunch of no names and Will Smith is hurt. A disaster as expected.
  12. And even then it better make a major difference in the return for eating that much of the contract. Past $18mil is borderline ridiculous and extremely unlikely. It would take too much for a team trading for him to even make sense of it.
  13. When you play 82 games at home and 738+ innings some one is likely to have a major injury.
  14. Or perhaps he was a late bloomer and had a style of game that declines pretty quick with injuries and/or past the age of 30? Carlos Gomez had the talent and he turned into what everyone thought he could be when he was a prospect. There was nothing fluky about what he did.
  15. I don't think anyone says it is a bad contract, but that it is big. I also think they are hinting it is near market value. However history has shown we don't have to eat money to get a nice deal. I don't think it would even be worth it for us to eat part of his contract. To really make a difference you are probably talking $20mil...$20mil is a pretty darn good prospect and one I can't see being offered just to eat money.
  16. What the Mets found wasn't total BS, but I don't think even they envisioned this. I don't think it has to do with his size...he has been huge for a long time. He had a skill set that burns up quick and probably accelerated by the injuries in the last year or two. I also believe his mentality has made it worse. Hard for him to handle the change/struggle of losing his mojo. Some players can adjust their game and last years in the league. Then you have some that fizzle out quickly because they can't adjust to a new type of game.
  17. This is what I mean when I say he needs to be held on to vs traded. There isn't a #3 batter like him for this team forthcoming this season or next. You want to spend $30mil the next two years so we have a good #3 hitter on a 90+ loss team? There are arguments to not trade Braun...but that one seems like a bit of a stretch.
  18. Not much worse honestly...the next two guys came up, had horrible at-bats, and we are still losing.
  19. It kind of sounds bad when the Brewers talk about it, but how many games does a player typically play anyway? 150-155? So maybe 10-15 games less? That really isn't a big deal. I wish I could figure that out but I think it would be in the 140's. Players don't play everyday anymore. Exactly 140 games that are mostly 100% is not bad at all. However, 140 games like Ryan Braun played in 2015 where at times it felt like he was at 25% is not all that great.
  20. A lot of love for his exit velocity, but it has been nearly useless. Not to mention his BABIP is like .380 and he is batting .270 He has some positives, but it sure isn't turning into results.
  21. Doesn't help that Nelson can't even get through the 6th inning. Counsell probably put Torres in to finish the 6th and then pitch the 7th.
  22. Nice job Torres...what garbage. Why is this guy even put in with guys on base? He has given up a hit in every outing he has had except one where he gave up 2 walks in a third of an inning.
