  1. I think they could sustain a AAA team. Even a 6,000 average is well above the bottom for AAA teams. The lack of stadium would be a huge problem and I don't know what the Mallards being there already would cause. At least they wouldn't be burning in the desert or playing in space like they are now.
  2. I still think it is a pretty dismal draft to be at the top. We will get a great player at #5 no doubt, but probably not as great as some prior drafts had up for offer. Still really hard to gauge some of the bats at there is still a few months for everything to shake out. Draft can change quickly. It is a deep draft though and our 2nd/3rd round picks will come quickly. That is one positive.
  3. Just guessing, but I don't think they have a AAA worthy stadium do they? And questionable whether Madison would have the necessary attendance to make it work? The Madison Mallards draw 6,200 and they are just a summer league for college players. Now I would imagine a AAA team would be a lot more attractive to watch and could bump up the attends numbers. Not sure if it is a lot more expensive though pushing away families...still I think they could draw more than the Mallards currently do. I don't think they would really effect Brewers attendance that much...but that is hard to say without it actually happening. Much more attractive to have it father away though I would imagine.
  4. We could probably have Jacob Turner for a bag of balls.
  5. It is an issue though. First of all how many contending teams can afford his contract in general? How many can take on some $8mil at the deadline? How many of those teams have the space to add approximately $16mil for next year and still fill holes? After all that the list is pretty small and that is before even considering everything else non financial.
  6. I am not buying the decline in attendance argument(at least a large one). We are a 100 loss type team...attendance can't really get much worse. Fans are not going to watch Braun. At this point it is to watch baseball regardless of who runs into the field. All you are going to do is tick off the fans already complaining and already not buying tickets. When the team improves and starts competing there will be new superstars on the team to cheer for. Attendance will rise back up and you will have a "Ryan Who?" Sign. Holding onto Braun for the fear of a slight decrease in already low attendance numbers is a bad move. Fans already don't care...best time to move him.
  7. Just because we are "swimming in cash" does NOT mean we should have a $20mil player just burn a hole in our pocket. Maybe you are forgetting, but baseball is actually a business...where you want to make money. If we aren't competing paying Braun $20mil is a massive waste of money. The money is a huge motivator to trade him and probably why Attanasio would want to sign off on such a deal. I wish we knew what Attanasio thought of Braun...I always wondered if he secretly despised him for the whole PED scandal. He made his organization look horrible and not even a year after investing $100mil in him he destroyed the majority of his marketability. Which costed Attanasio lots of future revenue. It is hard to say how likely it is for him to be traded if we don't know how Attanasio and Stearns view him.
  8. And even Josh Hader is an extreme stretch to be a top of the rotation guy. He just can't throw enough innings and the major leagues aren't going to be any easier for him. Sadly Hader is more likely to end up in the bullpen than be a top of the rotation guy. Reminds me a lot of Tyler Thornburg. You want to believe he can stick in the rotation, but a trip to the other side of the outfield wall seems inevitable. I wish they could get Pint or Groome. I am on the fence about Puk and hope he can show a little more here down the stretch. I went in wishing they could get "that" pitcher for the future, but if Groome/Pint aren't there maybe an elite bat will just have to be the choice.
  9. A lot depends on him staying healthy. If he can keep up the high average and power without hitting the DL his value could really sky rocket come July. Still it takes a perfect situation to deal someone like Braun. He is 33, half a year won't erase the injury concerns completely, and he is owed a lot of money. Even if he is producing to be well worth the approx. $20mil salary teams aren't so keen to trading for big salaries mid-season...or anytime period. Add in the age and injuries you need a perfect match to get a big return. I just don't see him being traded. I am sure Stearns would send him packing pretty quick for a solid/worthy package, but would Attanasio really write off on such a move? Not so sure.
  10. Not sure why he didn't slide to keep that one from rolling to the wall. Tough play with the ball spinning away towards the corner but he could've done more there. Santana has been caught be lazy multiple times this year. It was last week he caught a ball in very shallow right center and the runner scored easily when he should have never even tried to go home in the first place. However everyone could see Santana was being an idiot and not preparing for any kind of throw.
  11. There is that "great" defense Domingo Santana has.
  12. I'd be impressed with how the Brewers are hitting this inning, but the Phillies pitcher has been throwing batting practice the entire time. At least we aren't missing it.
  13. Going back to last August Braun has been hitting around .340 Impressive. He's just so fun to watch when he's right. Special hitter. .320+ hitters are a dying breed in this new age baseball that's for sure.
  14. Going back to last August Braun has been hitting around .340
  15. Fantastic double off the handle to bloop it into left center...what awesome luck.
  16. None...honestly none. Maldonado barely plays so it doesn't really matter, we pay him like a $1mil, and Maldonado catches Peralta.
  17. No worse than the other positive post thread filled with sarcastic "Only 1 game out of the wildcard" or "Peralta only can pitch every 5 days" daily updates. If he wants his thread let him have it...he may be the only one appreciating it though.
  18. There are plenty of baseball fans that still love to watch Braun hit and love the fact that he could be a Brewer for life. He could be a figure in the next wave of talent coming up and be a key player for this team still. I'm not saying people don't love to watch Braun...but the sole reason they buy tickets? I doubt that is a large portion of fans.
  19. Honestly I don't think people go to games to watch Braun. The team sucks...a lot. Braun does not dramatically change that. If people are going to Brewers games this year it is to watch baseball. Not to watch Braun. Attendance would not plummet and trading Braun wouldn't cost us $100mil over the next 5 years. Phillips/Arcia or someone else will soon be here to be the next great thing and fans will quickly forget about Braun.
  20. That may be true, but then again we aren't the ones paying an injury prone old OFer $100mil. So easy for us to say take that gamble.
  21. Definitely not to draw conclusions after 4 starts. Come on now...
  22. If Braun continues to mash(and mostly injury free) it will be interesting to see if they truly "would love to trade him" like what was reported in the offseason. Because hitting like this(and mostly injury free) he could easily become a valuable commodity. Then again hitting like this they might not be dying to trade him like they supposably were. Will be interesting to watch come July if things continue to go well with him.
  23. Charlotte seems a likely choice for a US team. They have the highest attendance in minor league baseball. Indianapolis also draws pretty well.
  24. Good Manfred would kill two birds with one stone. He wants increased offense.
  25. The production levels from Harrison/Gatewood are pretty depressing to look at. They are young, but things are not looking good.
