  1. That's what I was thinking. Still doesn't really help all that much though. Unless it is some type of substance abuse I think I would definitely take him #5.
  2. Sucks we don't know what is meant by immaturity. Once he is drafted he won't be around what he is now for the most part...he will be playing baseball. What makes it such an issue the teams in the Top 10 would be so scared?
  3. I agree that it would likely be a mistake to extend Lucroy, but your penchant for overstating things is pretty amazing. Sorry you feel that way.
  4. Which is where he will be once Arcia comes up. He is pretty much a lock at this point to move to 3B.
  5. Jonathan Villar seems like a borderline starter at SS that can also play 2B/SS/?OF? If he is on this team come 2019/2020 he will probably be in a super utility role. Though a pretty good one at that. I guess I would rather hang onto him to be in a Zobrist type role than trade him away as an average SS. Probably will get more value with him being a super utility player on a competing team than whatever we get in a trade.
  6. I just don't get some of these claims you make. This is a claim held by the majority of people who follow baseball. Extending Lucroy literally makes no sense at all. Stearns doesn't think we can compete in 2 years or whatever because he isn't putting a timetable on this rebuild...which is the right thing. If we extend Lucroy and he either declines or we don't compete it is going to look like one of the dumbest moves in franchise history. We don't know when we are going to compete so trading Lucroy isn't even a question, you just do it. The only reason Lucroy wanted a career contract is because he knows that catchers decline early and if he had/has to wait out his current contract he may never hit it big. He was trying to pull a fast one on the Brewers and they didn't take the bait.
  7. The reason to hold onto Carter past July is if you think he can raise his stock. Even if one gets offered an OK deal for Carter they could still choose to keep him if they are confident he will raise his value even higher. Either way I don't think it would be smart to ever extend him and I don't think he is apart of the future. Even this version of Carter has a lot of flaws where I would rather sell high on him and find a new first baseman vs. rolling with a 32+ year old Carter on a contending team.
  8. It sounds more like speculation and assumption that they would take money. Not necessarily is this some type of rumor from within the Brewers. I am sure the Brewers would pay some money to increase the return, but unless that is something sizable($15mil+) it won't make a huge difference in the return. That isn't chump change. Personally I don't care how much money they end up paying because lets be honest it isn't my money. However from the Brewers perspective trading an MVP caliber player and having to throw in large sums of money just to get a "good" return seems like we are the ones getting screwed. That is just the in depth baseball side of me...as a fan I don't really care how much they are paying unless is starts getting up to more than 25% of the contract.
  9. I would like to see a walk....just one will suffice. I hear you, but nice to see his average get over .250. Having his average floating around .200 and no walks was painful. At least he has something going for him now.
  10. I feel like I asked this somewhere before and I never got a reply, but where are these articles saying they will toss in a lot of money? Just curious to read them.
  11. The guys who the new GM traded for are given a longer leash. Or it is because Jungmann was straight up garbage with an ERA near 10. Anderson's is almost half of what Jungmann's was(before today). At least Chase Anderson can strikeout more than he walks.
  12. Jake Gatewood starting to hit a bit.
  13. Brewers just need to blow their pool out of the water and sign Kevin Maitan.
  14. Is it too early to start a 2017 draft position planning thread? When did we start that thread last year? After the first week of the season?
  15. Wow this is odd. We haven't worn these uniforms for like...at little over 24 hours. Seriously do the players sleep in these uniforms? Shower?
  16. A 3 ERA or more in the bullpen isn't even that good.
  17. Oh right I forgot you were taking on Werth. Problem is he has a no trade clause he almost surely would not waive to come to this dumpster fire(record wise). The Brewers also aren't doutbful to take on that much money, but that is unknown.
  18. Problem is the Nationals know what they have in Robles and he would be an overpay. Just too good of a prospect to give up in my opinion. Not convinced Braun's value is Top 30 prospect worthy.
  19. We have a ton of players contending for an All Star bid: Ryan Braun(pretty much a lock) Chris Carter(HR Derby PLEASE) Jonathan Lucroy Jimmy Nelson The top two have good shots, Lucroy needs to start hitting for more power to really lock in his bid, and Nelson probably will regress away from All Star production. We can always hope though!
  20. This list is going to look like a nuke hit it if half these players keep doing what they have done so far, the draft, Lucroy is traded, and Braun is traded.
  21. That commercial is pretty awful. If someone has a brain they wouldn't go to the University of Phoenix that is for sure.
  22. And just because we tried it once and it didn't worked doesn't mean we should never do it again. The thing is the Brewers Top 100 board probably looks nothing like any of these experts have put out there. For all we know the Brewers don't even like Groome and he isn't even in their Top 10. On the flip side there is a very good chance someone as low as #30 on an experts board is Top 10 in the Brewers. So hypothetically thinking if the Brewers grade Groome a 97 and some player they can sign underslot as a 94 do you take the 94 so with your next pick you can get a 90 vs. an 83? The Astros have done it twice now in recent years and the first was Carlos Correa and they did it last year with Bregman(who is a a Top 20 prospect now). With a GM that has just come over from the Astros I wouldn't be shocked if such a draft move happened. Can't really say it is a good or bad idea if we don't know how the Brewers rate every player and don't know who is going to be gone before us.
