  1. 22 at-bats!!! Hurry someone find a replacement!!! Villar is the shortstop. If by some crazy chance he isn't we have internal options like Rivera.
  2. 1. Orlando Arcia 2. Brett Phillips 3. Jorge Lopez 4. Isan Diaz 5. Josh Hader 6. Trent Clark 7. Kodi Medeiros 8. Jacob Nottingham 9. Gilbert Lara 10. Demi Orimoloye 11. Clint Coulter 12. Devin Williams 13. Monte Harrison 14. Michael Reed 15. Tyrone Taylor 16. Jake Gatewood 17. Zach Davies 18. Nathan Kirby 19. Victor Roache 20. Keon Broxton 21. Garin Cecchini 22. Adrian Houser 23. Yadiel Rivera 24. Damien Magnifico 25. Brett Suter(just for you know who) 26. Miguel Diaz 27. Rymer Liriano There are so many dang outfielders I didn't know what to do with them all. I don't have much time these days so I threw this together a little quicker than I typically would. I may come back to alter it though. UPDATE: Just realized I forgot Cody Ponce. Please stick him in at #12 and knock everyone else down a peg.
  3. A good read on some of the head scratching moves this year: http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebasketballnation/post/_/id/112470/the-committee-got-so-much-wrong-and-here-is-how
  4. That's true, but then again when does the tournament ever make sense? I took Arizona because they have the talent and my bracket got too boring. What's the fun in having a similar (horrible) bracket to someone else?
  5. Why spend your own money when you can get it for free in Florida...which is arguably a better place financially? Is that true though? Has there been any new complex built in Florida recently? I don't know. I know it took shenanigans for the Marlins to get taxpayer money for their stadium and it doesn't seem like Tampa is willing to give the Rays anything. Totally different sums of money but same principle. I don't know how much one of these stadiums cost, but the amounts are in different universes.
  6. Pac-12 is going to be at the end of multiple upsets....so many teams seeded wrong. Anyone have a lower seed they are taking deep into the tourney? I have #6 Arizona making it to the Elite 8. No reason other than the fact I like them over Miami and the fact I don't like Villanova making it to the Elite 8. I just swept Arizona's garbage resume under the carpet.
  7. Wily Peralta is not going to be replaced in the rotation...at least not anywhere near a short leash. I am guessing Jungmann has the shortest leash outside of Garza just because of the way he pitched in September. Anderson is a possibility too depending on what they think of him. Peralta is probably right behind Nelson for safest in the rotation.
  8. Why spend your own money when you can get it for free in Florida...which is arguably a better place financially?
  9. Oklahoma is really good and a fine dark horse to win it. My problem is I see both Kansas and Michigan State making the Final Four. If that is the two teams they would have to play to win it all I just can't see it.
  10. Only real upset picks I saw were VCU and Gonzaga winning. If you call a #9 seed winning against an #8 an upset....well...lol. What do you want them to do? Do what we do? Just flip a coin and see what sticks?
  11. They are looking at each match up and picking a winner based on who is better. That alone is going to make almost every higher seed win. The only upsets are going to be bad match ups or teams seeded inaccurately. On another note I feel like Texas A&M will bust my bracket. They have 7 losses to teams worse than 50 in the RPI rankings...yikes. I like that team and how they play, but I am pretty concerned looking at them on paper.
  12. I think if the Badgers make it, and play WVU, they might lose by 40..... Well yah a lot of it depends on match ups. North Carolina and Kentucky specifically are teams I think would have good odds vs. WVU. They might be able to get Kentucky to turn it over enough to win though. I am not hating on the pick for anyone making it because they are a good non 1/2 seed to make it. I mean heck someone could take #5 Maryland to the Final Four and that would be acceptable. There are no dominant #1 seeds this year so it could really open up the door...especially if one of them manages to lose before the Sweet 16.
  13. Wow talk about banking on spring training numbers! What are they against? Scrub pitchers? Real pitchers just working on one pitch? They have played like 10 games pitchers are extremely rusty still. I have a hard time caring about spring training numbers. Look at the scores for games they are ridiculous. Domingo is going to be fine and put up some numbers, but no need to call him an all star. If we take Santana's numbers at face value might as well take Arcia's at face value too. Might have to pull him out of the organization Top 30.
  14. Kansas is currently the most popular pick to win it all at 22% according to ESPN and Michigan State is picked on approximately 19.5% of brackets.
  15. I have always been back and forth on West Virginia. They are a team I could easily see making the Final Four, but I just don't think they are balanced enough to do it. Yes they press the whole game and randomly trap, but any half competent team can overcome that. Not to mention it gives other teams easy baskets and open 3s. They have no perimeter game and I just can't see them winning without one. I just don't think that is a good blue print to win 4 games in a row to get into the Final Four.
  16. They were going to play in Des Moines regardless. The problem is the Elite 8. Similar drives, but it is just an hour flight to Chicago and it is a three hour flight to Louisville since you can't take it non stop there. That is THREE TIMES as far. The other issue past that is price. Just using what google maps throws out there to Chicago is $276 and to Louisville is $555. Kansas got hosed and the committee can't even follow it's own rules. They specifically say the number one overall seed will get the closer games, period. Louisville is 3 miles closer, but if they didn't take into account the flying times the committee is a lot dumber than I thought. In the end it probably isn't a huge deal, but man if they can't even get that simple concept right that is concerning.
  17. Some have already been released so I imagine not very long.
  18. What is everyone's Final Four picks? SOUTH: Kansas - I think they find a way. Won't be easy, but they know how to win. EAST: Kentucky - Wow....what a bracket. I take Kentucky though. Team has the talent clicking right now. WEST: Texas A&M - I will jump on this band wagon. Love the way they played Kentucky today. I think they can make a run. MIDWEST: Michigan State - Probably the pick I am most comfortable with. Fairly easy bracket for them. KANSAS over TEXAS A&M ------- KENTUCKY over MICHIGAN STATE KANSAS over KENTUCKY NOTE: I wouldn't be shocked if 3/4 of these teams don't even make the Final Four. Heck I could see a few of those teams losing the second game they play. I am pretty sure the committee is on some kind of mission when they make these brackets. I think they try to get certain teams to lose and have certain upsets they try to get. Must be looking at some formula to get the best TV ratings. Why else do so many mid-majors get screwed when they do exactly what the committee wants?
  19. I will never understand how they come to these decisions. Kansas, the #1 overall seed by a large margin, somehow gets put in the South Region? So if they make the Elite 8 they play in Louisville instead of Chicago? Every year they make some of the strangest decisions and usually are out to get the #1 overall seed.
  20. Not to mention having a sea of empty seats doesn't look good to the casual fan. Watching a game with thousands of empty seats doesn't get one excited and thinking it is a good time at the ballpark. Sure wouldn't get one jumping out of their seat to buy some tickets.
  21. Not to mention Iowa lost their opening round game to Illinois. Good Job Wisconsin, Iowa, and Indiana.
  22. Is this you as an umpire? Give me a break.
  23. Maybe because we still had a good team that could compete?
  24. I was about to say 50 appearances then we are going to have a long list of relievers out there.
  25. Also important to note that Wisconsin can still go down. Not sure if any teams on the 8/9 line are still playing in the tourney, but if so they could easily bump down Wisconsin with a good win or two. Of course I am referring to anyone that has them as a 7. I don't think they will fall past 8/9 no matter what.
