  1. The conference tourneys matter a lot...even more so when you win it or have an early exit. Losing to a 15-17 team is not going to look good. Fresh on the minds of the committee will be a bad lose for a team already loaded with many of them.
  2. Yah from a neutral perspective that was a pretty awful game on both sides of the court. The looked uncomfortable on offense and totally lost on defense. Nebraska was constantly sprinting to the basket with little to stop them.
  3. You mean the Walk of Fame? That gives notice to people that gave a decent amount of their time to the organization? Jeez....why so harsh? And to answer your question I am pretty sure he is not eligible.
  4. Wisconsin is lucky they played Iowa when they did. It goes down as a good win against a Top 10 opponent, but in reality they played a team just as they were starting to fly off the rails. Will probably be good a for a 1 or 2 seed bump in the end.
  5. It would be waaaaay too expensive to do. Pretty much why it doesn't exist now. I think the Miller Park roof costed $50mil in 2001 dollars and has some pretty costly upkeep($13mil motor replacements). I wish it was more feasible, but the large size of a roof needed for baseball just makes it too ridiculous for a small team. Always nice to dream about though.
  6. Fairleigh-Dickinson at 17-14 just got an auto bid into the tournament...wow. Their most notable game of the season was when they played Villanova and lost 91-54.
  7. I will always appreciate what he has accomplished as a broadcaster with no professional sports experience. These days you constantly see those gigs going to former players. Amazing Anderson can call any pro sport at a high level and have such knowledge of each game. Regarding Bill...I don't really like him, but I would probably prefer him with Anderson after so long. I mean what would a game be without Bill talking about the no hitter or how he sucked at baseball?
  8. Lucky to have him even longer. I always feared he would go for more national work, but maybe that as a full time gig isn't for everyone. Of course I bet the Brewers offered him a lot of green too.
  9. Going off the high school to college comparison nothing annoys me more than when someone acts like just because a player is making it to the MLB level at 21 or 22 they are somehow better. No one realizes that those players are typically foreign players from Central America that got into pro ball at 16 years old. At that same time any stateside player is still wasting away at the high school level. Stateside players are usually pushing 19 before they can get into pro ball.
  10. The annoyance of the netting depends on where you sit. Loge level you are far enough away that you can't count the individual squares so it looks like it isn't there, but within the first 10 rows on the field level are the worst. That's where I cannot stand sitting because the net is quite annoying. I don't really like watching the game on a grid. The farther you sit back the less the net becomes a viewing issue.
  11. A loss is a loss. It just does not matter if it was by 3 points or 12...now if you get blown out 20+ that might make a difference. Wisconsin's other problem is some horrid losses they had earlier in the season. Start of the season losses are weighed just as much...right or wrong that is how it has always been. Seems like they will be a toss up in the 6-8 range unless they can win two games in the Big 10 tourney, which would make them an easy #6 seed.
  12. Mike Olt is absolutely horrible. It does not get much worse.
  13. Current/likely/best-case is confusing and complicated? Yes the best case doesn't seem to have an obvious reasoning behind it. I think the worst part was labeling some as 65+ instead of giving them a 65 grade. The plus inclusion just seems weird to me. Why? Why even use that? Honestly anyone could have an unlimited ceiling, especially guys in the low minors.
  14. The "Hank1" was used to peak interest and hint that omg there could be more than one. However it was just a teaser to get people thinking. Seems like it worked.
  15. His rankings are confusing and he made them too complicated. The "ceiling" rating was unnecessary. It just doesn't really make sense. How does he know a players ceiling? You could argue any young guy could be a 65+. Medeiros could be an ace some day. I think I would have left it as current and what he thinks.
  16. I'm sure this just proves how much I don't get it, but couldn't someone from the Brewers have simply said "Same dog. He's microchipped" earlier in the week and pre-empted the hand wringing and need for an actual press conference? Thanks for the insights into grooming and breed differences, though. I won't pretend I knew that much about it before. Why do you think they did a press conference? Marketing my man...marketing. Get Hank's name out in the news. Did we not all start talking about it for a couple days? That is exactly what they wanted.
  17. I just don't get it. If he has such a problem why not sign an extension with the Mets. I am sure they would be willing to listen. This is how the system work. Play for minimum and gamble on yourself or take less money now.
  18. People would have said the same thing about Michael Brantley or Lorenzo Cain had anyone rated them that highly following their age 22 seasons. It may not be likely that Reed ever performs up to that rating, but there is also a non-zero chance that he does. Reed (Age 22) AA: 278/379/422 122 wRC+ AAA: 246/351/381 100 wRC+ Brantley (Age 22) AAA: 267/350/361 100 wRC+ Cain (Age 22) A+: 287/358/448 128 wRC+ AA: 277/363/486 125 w RC+ Yah it would have been ridiculous. Should we go back to all the players that had poor years in A+ and use that to explain why everyone in our system is great? You can't just pull up minor league stats and start comparing players. Michael Reed is not even close to being a 60+. Would you seriously put Reed anywhere near Clark/Phillips? Sure he could magically obtain some power, but I could say that about 2/3 of prospects. Every player has that "If he just adds some power" label. Michael Reed has not done anything that would make one seem he can be more than an average OFer at best. 60+ is All Star level according to this writer. It is too early to be ranking Reed that high...maybe a year from now he could be there, but right now it is a serious stretch. Should be interesting to look back on his rankings a year from now. Very bold.
  19. I think Hank would do better with the Shih-Tzu look. That just looks more athletic...the Bichon look is great and all, but it isn't fitting for what Hank is suppose to represent. Then again the actual dog rarely shows up anymore so it doesn't really matter..
  20. A 60+ rating for Michael Reed is ridiculous.
  21. I think the Angels paid $1mil to Trout.
  22. Yah I don't see the goal here. I guess he is trying to make it an issue in hopes it gets fixed someday, but I can't fathom the owners taking away the "free" years. No one else has ever made a huge issue before. Usually agents are the ones to complain.
  23. Jacob DeGrom is protesting his $607,000 contract and is refusing to sign. DeGrom does not have 3 years of MLB experience so he is still in pre-arby: http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/14900603/feeling-undervalued-jacob-degrom-declines-sign-new-york-mets-contract-protest
  24. That is probably the easiest region to be in taking at face value. Though watch out for West Virginia...team is a total head ache to play. They mess with your tempo. Though my understanding is Wisconsin is a good 3 point shooting so it is a very winnable game.
