  1. Ryan Braun may just be worse than Khris Davis defensively. Braun consistently runs horrible routes, while his throws are stronger the accuracy is a joke, and his reaction time is embarrassing. There is really nothing to like about Braun's defense except an occasional highlight reel catch. Then again throw me out there for 162 games and I am sure I can make some cool catches too. Ryan Braun 2014 dWAR= -1.6 Khris Davis 2014 dWAR= -0.2
  2. Corey Hart was 20 when he debuted at AA. Coulter !IF! he keeps it up will make it there a full year later...Coulter also played at A+ two years(part of the first was in Helena). Probably should be taken into consideration a little bit...not that comparing two people in the minor leagues is even a good idea.
  3. Pretty clear I was talking about his batting average. He has struggled quite a bit vs. RHP the past two years. Maybe it is fluky because like mentioned the power numbers are there still. His struggles with breaking pitches and his batting average split are still a concern though. Could be a nasty combination that causes him to hit a wall when he gets to AA. Dominating A+ isn't really anything to brag about or Single A...will be exciting to see how he fairs at AA.
  4. Mike Fiers struck out the side on 9 pitches for the 54 time in MLB history.
  5. You know it is time for a mound visit when Khris Davis gets a hit.
  6. I know we just got into May, but I wonder who will the get the All Star nod for the Brewers. I cant imagine multiple guys at this point. Lind? K-Rod? Gomez if he has a hot streak?
  7. I agree the article is pretty critical on a fairly young guy in A-Ball, but his splits are a valid concern. His splits at A-Ball were scary bad the last two years. Not a great sign when even guys like Scooter Gennett put up decent splits back at that level. He will probably have to prove himself at AA before people really start to tout him a little more. Hard to really gauge a guy who in two years in Wisconsin struggled for a .250 AVG. vs. RHP, but now promoted to Brevard is mashing .370 vs. RHP I like the ceiling of Corey Hart and I think his floor is a 3.5 OFer. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up struggling vs. RHP and becomes a fringe starter. Something between Hart and Davis would be a realistic expectation if you really believe in him. The quote in the article stating him as "probably a bench bat" is pretty negative. It is like he is already being labeled a Jason Rogers type guy.
  8. Sure you could use that...those two still won't get within 20 points. I'd would be pretty comfortable calling him a 120 OPS+ hitter. He will be better than usual hitting at Miller Park...as he showed yesterday.
  9. Based on what? A career minor leaguer (Clark) and a guy with a .727 OPS in 22 AB this season can do the same job as arguably a top 5 if not the best splits hitter in baseball can do? This is what I mean by people becoming enthralled by the mythical "prospects." Rogers and Clark are only a couple years younger than Lind at this point, why are they going to get much better than what they are now? Has nothing to do with a "mythical prospect" or whatever you'd like to name them. I think if you had a platoon of Clark and Rogers, you'd have very close to the production we are getting now. Would it be as good as Lind? No probably not, but close, maybe. And if it were getting rid of Lind for a prospect(s) in a rebuild, then I am all for it. A platoon of those solid below average hitters would not even be REMOTELY close to Adam Lind's 168 OPS+...if you don't know a lot about OPS+ that is MVP like production. Even when Lind comes back down to earth(still all star type production) those two could only dream to be half of what Lind is.
  10. Oh great a couple wins and the rose colored glasses are coming out.
  11. You know as bad as Davis has looked at the plate at least he works the count on a daily basis...if only the rest of the team could.
  12. Except for the fact Coulter was drafted as a catcher and intended to be used that way. He had enormous value as a possible .270 and 20+ homer Catcher...as an iffy defense corner OFer...not so much. Yeah, somebody like Hunter Pence has no value. [sarcasm]Wish we could get that Coulter pick back![/sarcasm] Yes because I totally said that... Clint Coulter has value...just not the enormous value he had that made him a 1st round pick. I am sure Clint Coulter would have dropped a lot if teams knew he couldn't catch...however most scouting reports were confident he could catch.
  13. Almost had that elusive homer...every time he pitches I want him to smack one out.
  14. Wow I would love to see the angle that made them overturn that. FS Wisconsin showed nothing to make me think there was enough there.
  15. That was the worst one inning pitching performance I have seen in a long time...that was just brutal to watch. Honestly I was ready to bet on a Peralta home run.
  16. Except for the fact Coulter was drafted as a catcher and intended to be used that way. He had enormous value as a possible .270 and 20+ homer Catcher...as an iffy defense corner OFer...not so much.
  17. I would say Khris Davis is a nice ceiling comparison...so a 2 WAR player. His defense doesn't figure to ever be very good which limits quite a bit of value...though playing RF would be a plus. That really leaves his offense to give him all the value he will provide. The article actually says he has a ceiling of a 2nd tier RF which I would say is pretty accurate. I do think Brewers fans overrate him to a certain degree.
  18. That's where I think the key lies. We could get a guy in A ball now who may be on the cusp of dominance of getting promoted in 2017/2018. Maybe someone similar to what Coulter/Arcia was coming into last season. This also isn't taking into consideration someone we could get for Lohse or Garza. If we're out of it next year, we could even get something valuable for Lind. EDIT: Oldcity, Get out of my head. Right, there are a lot of wild card prospects that may end up being something. Lohse, Ramirez, Garza, and Lind all have value that could get decent prospects if traded. The Brewers will have a lot more money come 2018 than they have now which could really shake things up. Really tough to figure out the time frame for a rebuild before this trade deadline and whenever Gomez is traded. A lot of variance on what people think we can get for some of our lesser guys and whether we can land a mega prospect for Gomez makes a big difference.
  19. And they are all going to hop up in 2017 and be super stars like Braun right? It takes time even when they do hit the bigs. Realistically this team has 4-5 years if they trade those guys away. I'm with Oldcity on this one. The Brewers could very well be contenders in 2017, maybe 2018 tops, even with trading Lucroy/Gomez, depending of course on the players they got back. If we were to get one stud pitcher (think along lines of Giolito/Syndergaard for example) for one of them and another stud position player (e.g., Seager/Gallo/Correa), plus maybe a few lesser prospects who can contribute, we would be in pretty solid shape. Obviously nothing is a given, but if Arcia continues to progress and is up in 2017, Coulter mashes and comes up in 2017/2018, Segura finds his old self and is maybe moved to 2nd (or is traded for another good package), then we will have lots of talent. Don't get me wrong I don't think it will take the 5-6 years it took the Cubs/Astros, but 2 years is a pipe dream and 2018 is being pretty generous too. I see where you are coming from and I see how they could make it happen...but everyone would need to hit the ground running for that to happen. Rotation: 1. Sign Ace off FA market after 2016/2017 2. Synergaard(or other elite pitching prospect) 3. Nelson 4. Peralta 5. Insert whoever from the minors you like C-?...likely some veteran 1B- Elite prospect(Gallo type guy) 2B- Jean Segura SS- Orlando Arcia 3B- ? LF- Ryan Braun CF- Tyrone Taylor RF- Clint Coulter Yeah I can see where they could compete especially if we were to sign an Ace and then get an elite prospect to be dominant making a one-two punch. A lot of concerns though regarding the offense. Those guys would really need to work out right away. EDIT: Please note I didn't consider secondary pieces in a Lucroy or Gomez trade. Either could easily bring back another prized piece to add to the pool.

  21. The Brewers are not getting Moncada in a trade let alone with Swihart. The Red Sox shelled out $32mil upfront for him. They won't just eat that money. Swihart also doesn't make a whole lot of sense from the Sox perspective unless he struggles badly at the MLB level. I'd imagine they would roll with him if he is close to average.
  22. Is anything even sewn onto the jerseys these days? Pretty sure lettering/numbering is sewn together in China and just steam pressed onto the jersey here.
