  1. Stop dreaming guys Ryan Braun isn't going anywhere.
  2. I do think there is a possibility they could dump some of their pieces early. Most likely I think it would be guys like Broxton/Ramirez/Lohse who are in their final year here. I think when it comes to our bigger chips they would likely hold on to them till all the suitors are rounded up in July...unless a crazy deal is offered. As far as value...yes I think even the guys struggling have value. Jake Peavy is a good example of a guy struggling yet still getting good value. He is pretty comparable to Lohse...better, but they are similar guys. Aramis Ramirez is in the same boat, but we might have to include some money to get decent prospects. Segura/Lucroy/Gomez/Garza are pretty straight forward. They all have control and pretty significant value...Garza to a lesser extent. I think you would be surprised what the Brewers could/will fetch when they trade some of these guys. A team like the Padres being win now could get desperate for Segura, a lot of teams get desperate after starting rotation injuries, and the Mets may feel pressured if they continue to lead the division.
  3. ...Did someone really just mention the playoffs...? This team isn't going .500 and it would be quite a feat to avoid 90 losses.
  4. Heck send Gomez and Segura to the Mets...shape a deal around Syndergaard.
  5. There are usually 2-4 teams every year that are at least 9 game out of a playoffs spot come May 1st. If the deals were really that much better these kind of early trades would be happening. Clearly it isn't ever worth the extra loses and lost revenue. I am not sure if the deals are any better, but I was just commenting on why we probably dont see them often. I assume most teams feel they have a chance to compete for a playoff spot until June or July and thats why we dont see them often. I also wouldn't say it 'clearly isnt worth the revenue.' I am not sure there have been enough of these types of trades to judge if it's worth it or not. I am sure they will probably just let teams know that guys are available. Maybe most teams wait to make trades because they dont want to risk losing prospects and then have their own guys get hurt/fall of the map. These crummy teams may be trying to shop guys but other teams arent sure if they are truly in the playoff chase or not. I am not sure of the reason, but I was just trying to point out why it may not happen. You also have the problem with the buyers end. When it comes to rentals do you really want to trade for one just because of a hot start? What if you end up flopping the next month?...whoops.
  6. I am sure I can find someone to throw under the bus in my place.
  7. All that because he can't field a bunt. Small ball turned into big ball really fast right there.
  8. You can only pound so many fastballs before it comes back to bite you. Nice to see Braun get a hold of a ball to semi LF.

Clearly it isn't ever worth the extra loses and lost revenue. Really? 9games out of the playoff by May 1.... You may want to check your claim. As of right now in the AL Cleveland with 6 wins is 7.5Games out of best record in that League. Phi and Wash are just 6games out of best record in the NL. Milw is the only team right now that if more than 8games from having best record in the NL much less from a Playoffs spot. My claim is accurate... I went back 3 or 4 years and found at least multiple teams that were 9+ games out.
  10. Why is Bill talking about Garza having a great start again when he is still pitching?...could we wait for him to get out of the inning first?

  12. By selling earlier, the team who receives our player get more starts, more at bats, more innings pitched, essentially more wins (or WAR). Because of this, the Brewers could and should be able to demand more of a return. Also gives them leverage to wait if they aren't getting a worthy offer as the deadline isn't forcing their feet to the fire. Hypothetically this is true...realistically I don't know if it really works this way. If it did I think a lot of teams would sell early, but almost nothing happens before mid July. Even the Cubs and Astros the past couple years waited till the end.
  13. Braun isn't going to use PEDs again guys. He has no reason and doesn't seem like he cares to much about baseball(compared to before). It isn't like he is A-Rod wanting to breaking records etc.
  14. Rumor has it that if the Brewers continue to scuffle badly they may start trading earlier than July. Though I don't seem to get the point other than salary relief as you would surely be selling at rock bottom. Though I will say Jake Peavy struggled mightily last year, but was still traded for a decent haul. Even dominated post trade and won a world series.
  15. But consider who his supplier was. This guy was also supplying A-Rod and many other people that never had a positive test. If I was Braun I would probably feel pretty confident I could go back to not getting caught. It is very possible he had been using since his college days and didn't get caught for nearly a decade. One silly mistake in ten years sounds pretty good. Also I am sure he knew what he did wrong in 2011 and could easily avoid the same situation in 2012.
  16. Another oppo field homer...don't get excited until he proves he can hit it to LF.
  17. It has been 44 at-bats...I don't think anything is obvious here.
  18. Think of Ryan Braun as a person and you will see that him doing drugs ever since college is not all that surprising. The guy is really smart. In high school his lowest grade ended up being a "B" in advanced placement chemistry. Smart people are also very dangerous people. They are the people that can do these drugs and stay in the dark without getting caught. Looking back at how he handled the positive test and it is almost scary how perfect he played it out. Then you get to his college career. He was the offensive star on the team that was loaded with PED users...to think he wasn't one of them is a bit foolish. Then his bestie was Alex Rodriguez and he also sported a giant ego...coincidence? I think there are two reasons his production has dropped mightily post PEDs: 1. First and foremost just the shell shock of being with out them. I imagine it is kinda like taking a guy in Single A and throwing him on the MLB roster. 2. Look at Ryan Braun when he was taking steroids. The guy had confidence through the roof and always had a fire to him. I think one of the biggest downfalls is how much he believed in those drugs. They gave him the confidence he needed to be successful. I don't know if you guys have ever known anyone who took PEDs for sport performance, but most truly think they need them. A lot of times once they stop confidence just vanishes and they lose interest. It is amazing to look at how much he just doesn't care anymore. In 2012 he had fire to prove people wrong and come back stronger...though it looks like it was because he had confidence he could mask the drugs again. Regardless post 2012 Ryan Braun simply isn't the same player or person. I think people forget PEDs aren't all about the physical aspects and there is a huge mental game being played too.
  19. That's probably fair value, maybe a bit high for Peralta, probably a bit low for Lucroy. However, and this is a big however, you obviously would never get that combination of people in real life. Looking at value is fine, but in reality, you not only have to find a team that has a need for a Lucroy, or a Gomez, or a Peralta, or a Lind, etc., but they have to have and be willing to give up commensurate value. So which team would trade for Lucroy and have and be prepared to part with two top 50 prospects? Same question for Gomez and Peralta and Lind and whomever (adjusting for return value, of course). That narrows the field of potential trade matches by quite a bit. So while Lucroy may be worth Swihart and Nola and then some, Boston doesn't have Nola, and their other top 100 prospects are Yoan Moncada (9), Henry Owens (20), and Eduardo Rodriguez (87). Does Boston value Lucroy enough over Ryan Hanigan to include Moncada and Swihart, or Owens and Swihart? Is Swihart and Rodriguez plus some lower level guys enough? Would they even part with Moncada in the first place (I've read no)? The difficulty in getting the right kind of value back is one reason I am almost positive that Attanasio is not going to go through with a total rebuild, even if that's not a great reason. No chance they even consider trading Moncada. They would have to eat that tax of $32mil themselves. While the actual bonus might be able to follow him in a trade the overage tax wouldn't. Probably wouldn't be the smartest financial move.
  20. 1. The Padres still have THREE Top 100 prospects...how is that nothing? 2. Thanks for the good laugh...Seager for Peralta? Are you serious?
  21. Devers isn't that highly touted...but I agree Garza probably won't get a guy like that. Maybe Peralta if he turns it around and gets to the break strong. Then maybe he could command Devers plus some. But hey you never know...teams get desperate and Devers isn't one of their major prospects so they might find him tradable.
  22. I think the fact it was a cereal helped a lot. And the fact majority dislike hank or don't want Hank stuff.
