  1. What led KC to the World Series besides stinking for years and drafting high was the greatest performance by a trio out of the bullpen in major league history though there is certainly merit to the argument that the Grienke trade positioned them to the point where they became legit contenders. I believe the Brewers have enough trade-able pieces both this year and next to bolster their chances in 2018 and beyond without sacrificing all hope in 2016-2017 which is why Lucroy is likely going nowhere. This is exactly the kind of thinking that has put us in the endless loop of average teams.
  2. Why is Blazek pitching? Are we trying to blow out his arm?
  3. I would love to know why John Selby(in charge of reviews) elected not to challenge that call at 2nd.
  4. Cannot believe they didn't challenge the call at 2nd. Looked pretty obviously he was out...not to mention we are into the 7th inning at this point. And now a homer
  5. Got a good laugh after I looked up to see what it looked like.
  6. Wow is this strike zone massive or what. Good day to be a pitcher.
  7. Thing is, we could actually trade Gomez and continue to pseudo-compete (via a Gold Glove CF in Gerardo Parra) for a playoff spot if the deadline rolls around and we're within striking distance. Is Parra = Gomez? No, but he's a competent fill-in. It's imperative we trade Gomez this season IMO, if we can get a good haul for him I would like us to hang onto Lucroy. There's a ton of money coming off the books at the end of the season and it wouldn't be that hard to field a competitive team in 2016 if constructed right. All these folks calling for 3 year rebuilds are insane IMO, we don't NEED to do that, we just need to organizationally be smarter about how our roster is constructed until the Arcia's of the world are ready. Doug? Mark? Is that you? First of all if we trade Gomez I am pretty sure they are not going to attempt to compete. With that being said you have 3 major hole in my opinion with possibly a forth. Biggest concern is 3B and the lack of options, next is at least one hole in the rotation, and then once again figure out the bullpen . Money or not you would be gambling just like this year...any more gambling and we may be crying for a good 5+ years if it doesn't work.
  8. Baseball is much more than hitting a baseball or throwing 100mph. Baseball might be the most situation game of any major sport. When you have everyone looking to hit homers when all they need is a sac fly you run into problems. When guys run once the ball is hit you run into boneheaded mistakes. Baseball is not a selfish game like you seem to think...there is a big mental side to it.
  9. If one of these two guys or similar prospect is offered I can't see how they don't trade Lucroy...especially for Urias.
  10. They need those players somehow...It doesn't have to be by trading off Lucroy and Gomez. There are so many ways to build a baseball team. Trading Lucroy and Gomez will greatly aid them in turning things around...holding on to them is pointless as far as the future talent of the team goes. Expecting to get future MVP caliber players is a pipe dream.
  11. Well I guess that is what they get for giving a average at best catcher $21mil. Surprised they only gave him 30 at-bats before dumping him though.
  12. I don't see the desperation needed to make such a move on the Astros part. I have seen some crazy overpays(Addison Russell for Samardzija)...but Correa being traded when in all honestly is MLB ready would take one crazy GM.
  13. I think it is way too early to consider sending Davis down. He hit about .250 in April and had a pretty respectable OBP. The power hasn't been there, but give him some time. He is also hitting 1/20 vs. lefties which obviously is not very realistic for Davis who tends to hit lefties a bit better than righties.
  14. Wait I thought the Brewer's starters always did that...
  15. I don't think people believe they will trade anyone this month...or even June for that matter, but come July guys will be on the move. It would take a massive turnaround to even think about not selling. Just like the Rays last year I don't think they will be willing to gamble on a wildcard play in game in opportunity. Not to mention we have no ace and the odds would be stacked against us quite badly.
  16. What is happening to this site? The amount of rude posts appears to have tripled with a snap of a finger. Wow. It's "new guy syndrome" where you have to flex your e-muscle within the first ~ 500 posts; abrasive, defensive, and inability to read sarcasm are typical traits. After 500 posts your are just a _____. Insert your word of choice.
  17. He will be issued a new number...what do you expect? Wow, you're smart for figuring that out! Here's a cookie! ...I'm speaking more of what number he'll be given, as his number hadn't been changed yet. But, good job! Atta boy! It is just a number change for a guy currently in MiLB...who cares what happens. That is all I am saying. Guess I am underestimating the importance of uniform numbers.
  18. Source?? From glancing at Twitter, it looks like Buster Olney is saying the Brewers "aren't willing to trade Lucroy." I wonder if that means they are firm in not trading him, or if they've received some middling calls and offers on him. From an ownership perspective, I could see them wanting to keep him around as the "face of the franchise" even if they do decide to do a full on rebuild. He's under a team friendly deal for two more seasons (2017 is a club option). Seeing he is on the DL and May just started I seriously doubt names were exchanged.
  19. I feel like we are all going to be very dissapointed with the return we get from Lind. It only took Estrada, who we were dumping regardless, to get him and it isn't like Lind was bad last year. Amazing how badly not hitting lefties hurts your value...though he hasn't done too bad this year.
  20. The Brewers do not think they have a chance to compete. I think it is pretty clear in Doug Melvin's comments that they will attempt a rebuild to some degree. People need to stop looking at the 6 games out of the wild card...it is foolish and means nothing. What you need to look at is the 87 games they need to win to get a playoff spot. Just to get to that 87 win mark they will have to play .580 baseball the rest of the year. Do you really think this team can go 79-57?
  21. 6 games at this point in the season is a lot. They know they will be selling at the deadline...don't let that small number fool you. You also need to realize every team in the NL is ahead of us. It isn't just one team we are chasing.
  22. Roenicke had no emotion...probably his biggest downfall with the players.
