  1. I am not one to criticize umpires but CB is just about the worst you can have behind the plate.
  2. Take out the bizzaro 2020 and it's even better. Great to see a team with pitching, defense, and smart baserunning!
  3. As I noted, it was out of the blue and considered puzzling at the time. That McGinn article was from days after it happened. If you're looking for cause/effect, perhaps you could also add it to the gradual erosion of McGinn's credibility and departure from the JS... No one has talked about it much since until today, which, as I noted, is why it caught me by surprise. I just brought it up as it's a great example of the last regime not getting value out of an NFL level player, while this regime has.
  4. People questioned in in the moment, but much of that abated when the stuff about the locker room came out, if I recall correctly. Heck, he wasn't even in Rodgers' laundry list of departed vet players that he complained about in his press conference. Nope, became a fan after they drafted Jordan Love, actually. Well welcome aboard if so! Starting next year, he will be the future of the franchise. Here's a good article that basically goes over the Sitton situation, written by the legendary Bob McGinn back when he was with the journal sentinel https://www.packersnews.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/mcginn/2016/09/10/mcginn-packers-blew-sitton-gambit/90149052/
  5. To force another team to have an interest in trading for him? I understand that a lot of people carry resentment for Thompson and especially how the end of his career went. But I have to admit, citing the Sitton situation as part of that is something I hadn't seen before today. Seems an odd hill to die on, just IMO. I was a pretty big TT supporter until the bungling of that situation as it became apparent that he could no longer function in this job. Not surprisingly, he was out a year or two later. I'm shocked you never saw anyone criticize the handling of that. Did you follow the team at the time?
  6. Still need someone to trade him to. Yup, thats what you have GM for
  7. He could've been traded long before camp started. Or he could've just been kept and then the Packers would've had a better Guard that season.
  8. I love ump scorecards but you have to take it with a grain of salt. Its not so simple to say how many runs were gained/lost by 1 bad call. And its a probability thing anyway. A hitter can gain a 4th strike due to a bad call and hit a grand slam but it won't go down as a 4 run differential. Or Wily Adames can hit a double later in his at bat after not getting a walk he should've had. There appeared to be several examples of this last night where the batter reached anyways.
  9. Whether or not it was a good decision isn't the point. The point is this was NFL level talent that was valued greatly by others and GB found a way to get nothing for him. (Though for what it's worth, he did have a pff grade of 82.1 in 2016 with Lane Taylor at 66.3). You can believe that there were no takers and no ability to trade him if you want, but I will point to the fact that he was immediately signed to a multi year contract after he was cut. The Bears were likely not the only team interested. I am happy that we're currently finding ways to get something for guys who would've been cut anyway.
  10. ??? TT cut him and they got nothing. He then immediately signed a 4 year contract with plenty of guaranteed money to play for Chicago. They probably could have traded him instead if they really wanted him gone. That failure was pretty much the point where it was clear TT needed to be replaced.
  11. Yup, the mishandling of the Sitton situation comes to mind
  12. Get the pitch count on the starter up and go to work on that soft nougaty Reds bullpen!
  13. Or at least now or the 8th inning. or 9th inning. Fail that, tomorrow or the next day. Anytime, really, now included. Like I said...
  14. Or at least now or the 8th inning. or 9th inning. Fail that, tomorrow or the next day. Anytime, really, now included. Nope, gotta be right now
  15. An inch or two outside is outside. So an umpire should only be expected to be able to call pitches that are 6 inches off the plate correctly which any half drunk blowhard sipping Heineken at home could call correctly? Good lord, is this like your first year watching baseball? There is not a human being alive who gets 100% of pitches correct within a few inches of the strikezone, never has been, and never will be either. Cry about it if it makes you feel better I guess.
  16. Since the beginning of baseball pitches on or near the corner have sometimes been called strikes and sometimes balls. There is no possible way a human being behind home plate will call 100% of those pitches the same way the box on the tv calls them. By taking a borderline pitch, you run the risk of striking out... Thus, "too close to take" They weren't borderline. They were off the plate. Did you see it? Yeah by like an inch. That's what's considered borderline.

  18. Nope, I'm an athlete. I even stole a base this year in my 30 and over league.
  19. I thought he was going to score easy. It was pretty obvious the ball wasn’t going to be caught and it took him awhile to get to 3rd Welp....
  20. I like Brett Anderson a little more after his Colbert comments lol
