  1. This is why I try to avoid betting baseball. Everything would tell you this is an excellent pitching matchup advantage for the Cubs along with the Brewers having used the whole bullpen yesterday. It's free money right? So naturally it's 7-1 Brewers in the 3rd.
  2. Looks like they listened to my complaints and stopped platooning turang and bauers. I'm not sure it will matter today though
  3. Ok and the champion is very likely to be the #1 overall team Boston. Also in the East there was only a 3 game difference between #2 and #6
  4. This is basically just a "Hi welcome to baseball" post. Yes this offense is inconsistent, sometimes they get shutdown and score few or no runs, sometimes guys strikeout or hit weak popups. It's been a problem for the Brewers since 1970 and for every other team as long as they've been around.
  5. God these platoons are so stupid. If you want to platoon two bad hitters like Frelick and Chourio fine. You don't platoon three spots in the order and replace two of your better hitters with AAA level righties. Sure it would have been a fine series to give Turang or Baurers one off day, not benching them for all three games. There's a reason this team has been terrible against lefty starters the last several years and it's too much platooning. What works on paper doesn't work in reality.
  6. He didn't strike anyone out but it really was a lot of bad luck and bad defense behind him.
  7. It's often overlooked, but a guy coming in out of the bullpen and holding a deficit is important. Glad they replaced Vieira.
  8. I'll take 2/3 in the inning lefty on lefty with a double and triple. Turang's popout cancels out monasterio's dribbler back to the pitcher.
  9. I will 100% take that. Sure he can get an off day every couple weeks. They'll face lefties more often than that though.
  10. Oh look at that Jake Baures can hit a lefty, amazing
  11. And how much of those career numbers include last year where he didn't hit righties either? This year he's hitting over .300 on the season. He has earned the right to play every day. Don't pigeon hole a young player in a platoon, give him a chance to face more lefties and improve those numbers.
  12. I just dont understand this platoon obsession they've had the last few years. It hasn't worked at all either as they've done very poorly vs lefty starters. I'm fine with maybe one platoon, frelick can sit vs lefties but that should be it. Play everyone else just about every day.
  13. Turang should be playing every day, end the platoon
  14. Yeah I don't buy the whole 0% catch probability thing. I don't know who comes up with that. I watched with my two eyes and saw a ball that could have been caught but it would've taken a diving attempt. The Marlins announcers thought the same thing. If he dives and doesn't come up with it, it is what it is, but you have to give an effort there.
  15. Can ship Chourio back to the minors any day now. If he's not willing to dive for a ball to win a game, put someone in right field who will.
  16. Most people are fans of teams close to where they live. It makes sense, for a number of years it would have been much easier to follow the local team since you couldn't really get out of market games on tv or radio and it's much easier to attend a game when your team plays close by. Sometimes people move though and now a whole new set of teams are your local teams.
  17. Box score agrees to. He's today's winning pitcher.
  18. I think it is definitely past the time to be done with the platoon at 3rd. Play Ortiz every day.
  19. I remember a game in 2018 in Colorado down 2 in the 9th 2 outs nobody on where they came back to win, I wonder if this is the first time since then they've had a 2 out nobody on rally to win when down multiple runs.
  20. Oh wow, yeah then I can definitely see why they optioned Uribe. I can't imagine they'll want to go a man down in the pen anytime soon so he can sit in AAA.
  21. So they're not allowed to call someone else up to replace Peralta while he serves his suspension?
  22. And my exact point is that comparison is dumb and doesn't apply at all to professional sports. As a fan, I want to see things like CC Sabathia pitching complete games on two or three days rest to will the team into the postseason. There's a win at all costs mentality that is necessary. The Josh Hader's of the world should be traded as soon as possible and we should laugh at any team dumb enough to give them a huge contract.
  23. Evidently not since he doesn't get to make big decisions anyway
