Exactly. I give no credit to current management. Giannis wasn't drafted by Horst. They have drafted a grand total of two useful players since 2014 and neither of them are still on the team. Almost all the rotational guys who actually play are 30+ years old.

Well maybe think a little harder before sharing your ideas. Why would any fan show up to watch that? Why would any player care? Why would you have reverse draft order for the other 22 teams but for these teams its based on wins?

It doesn't matter because something like this will never happen and will obviously never even be considered. Posts like this remind me of that old commercial where instead of a warning track, they have a warning moat in the outfield.

Are you saying they would still have reverse draft order after this "playoff", meaning the team who wins picks 8th? None of this makes any sense.

Why would you have reverse draft order but then have the complete opposite for the last eight spots? Why would any player want to take part in something like that?

That's because 4/130 is not a playoff, especially when undefeated teams get left out. That is an invitational. There has never actually been a national champion in D1 FBS level football and the NCAA does not directly crown one. There have only been mythical titles claimed by schools after winning bowl games. MLB used to have 8/30 make the postseason. This was a reasonable number and it meant that making the postseason was somewhat difficult and meant something. That's the number it should be today.

Three division winners and one wild card from each league. Postseason starts with the divisional series. Anything more than eight out of thirty is always worse.

Well both of those things are true. It is just baseball, but these losses have also been very painful. You can be on the bad side of variance like the Brewers have been the last few years and it's really painful and awful.

That's why winning that one game playoff in Chicago in 2018 was such a great win. Back when winning the division really meant something. That's still my favorite Brewer game I ever attended, and I've attended three different NLDS wins.

Thing about baseball is anything can happen in a single game. It's tough for people to accept but the results in a short series don't often match the quality of play. The better team only has a slightly better chance to win.

Agree completely. You know today and yesterday I was pretty nerved up about the game. Really made sure to watch every pitch. Makes you realize it's not ever like that in the regular season. It's never like the end of the year in '08 or '18. It seems unlikely that a 90+ win season wouldn't make it in this system and if you are in a tight race for the 6th spot, your team probably isn't all that good and you still have the stupid three game series looming.

That is true. Avoiding the extra round of coinflips is beneficial.

It is. You can go 2/9 on coinflips like the Brewers have since '08 (Not including the covid year). That's not really all that unlikely from a statistical standpoint.

The Dodgers have won the WS one out of their last seventeen postseason appearances. Last year they were swept in the NLDS by a team that finished twenty games behind them.

Payroll disparity only matters with getting to the postseason. Winning a series is a coinflip. Sure, the better team may win 55% of the time if they have a big advantage but you won't get a bigger edge than that in baseball.

Yeah, I just listened to it too on the mlb app archive. Absolutely heartbreaking to hear him call the homerun. I think we've all dreamed of hearing Uecker call a WS win but with every passing year the odds get longer and longer. This current postseason system is absolutely brutal. It is awful to have to now win three series coinflips just to make it to a WS.
