  1. I'm on board with most moves Stearns makes, he has been an excellent GM so far and has quickly turned this team into a legit contender, however this is a very bad mistake all around. I really don't like giving up Ortiz and I really think Schoop is a bad baseball player. Anyone with a .264 OBP and a 3% walkrate is a terrible player to have in your lineup, especially if they aren't an elite defender. This is a career 3.6% walkrate 98 wRC+ player over 2500+ PAs. I don't want him starting, I don't think he should be on the active roster, and I hope to god they don't pay him 9mil+ in arby next year. Villar, Saladino, Orf, Huira, Perez, Hager, Moore were all better options.
  2. Looks like we traded away Ortiz for a worse version of Hernan Perez. I would say it's just a couple bad games but he has 100 games this year with an OBP south of .280 and a walk rate of 3%. That is not a good baseball player.
  3. 1. RHP Corbin Burnes - Off to a great start in bullpen, can't wait to see him in the rotation next year. 2. 2B Keston Hiura - Has hit at every level, could fill a giant need at 2B next year. 3. C Jacob Nottingham - Outstanding season at CS, good to see him get his first callup 4. RHP Zack Brown - Huge breakout season in Biloxi puts him on the map 5. RHP Marcos Diplan - Solid debut in Biloxi, very nice 2018 overall 6. OF Corey Ray - Finally living up to his huge potential 7. 3B Lucas Erceg - Recovered nicely from a rough start, strikeout rate down 8. OF Troy Stokes Jr. 9. RHP Trey Supak 10. 4. They've been using a 4 and swing rotation all season long, there's a good chance they continue to do that.
  5. There are at least 7 or 8 starting pitcher prospects in our system or majors right now that would be ahead of Medeiros at this point (Peralta, Diplan, Ortiz, Woodruff, Burnes, Ponce, Supak, Brown) Not including guys like Davies or Guerra who still have a lot of team control left. And to add to that, Medeiros would have had to be added to the 40 man roster this offseason or risk losing him for nothing. This year was also the first time he was having any success in the minors at any level.
  6. 12/32 is not much different than 10/30. Its not like GB is often #12 either. That said, I'll admit there's quite a difference between being in baseball's smallest market compared to football's smallest market. In baseball it is 8/30. Making a 1 game "playoff" does not count Also football has 4 team divisions, so slightly less competition for the one guaranteed playoff spot for 1 of 4 teams. Like the Indians this year who would make the playoff with 78 wins if needed. It is 10/30, the WC round is officially counted as postseason whether you as a fan want to count it or not. It would be as asinine as me saying anyone playing the in the WC round in the NFL doesn't count and only the top two from each conference do.
  7. This really couldn't be more wrong. The QB in football has a bigger impact on wins than any single player in baseball can. Aaron Rodgers has a bigger impact on the Packers than Mike Trout does on the Angels and it isn't really close. You could put Aaron Rodgers on the Browns and they might make the playoffs. Also Melvin was tasked with rebuilding the fanbase, not building a long term contender. You are looking at this from completely the wrong angle. Melvin knew that they were tanking the future just to make the playoffs because it is what the team needed at the time after somewhat losing the fanbase by being bad for so long. Stearn's should not be about just making the playoffs, his job is to build a long term winner. Babe Ruth's best season was 15 WAR. Barry Bond's was 12.7. The absolute best baseball players ever aren't worth even 1 win in a football season. Rodgers is worth 2 or 3, he is like a 30-40 WAR baseball player. Put Rodgers on the Browns now, maybe. Have the Browns draft him instead of GB and he's out of the league in about 5 years as another bust. It's not random chance that so many of their QBs have failed after great college careers, it's bad coaching.
  8. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/21986511/what-happen-baseball-game-went-50-innings So I was reading this as the Brewer game went into the 10th today, and what do you know, we've got PHI/LAD in the 16th right now with a position player on the mound! The first 50 inning game could be tonight!
  9. With a slightly above average QB instead of Rodgers the Packers are basically the Lions over that time frame. Rodgers has covered up a lot of ineptitude with the Packers. He is so great he can will a bad team into the playoffs and even win a playoff game or two, that doesn't make McCarthy a good coach. No way to win as a coach then I guess, gotta win the super bowl every year.

  11. I find it hilarious people on here are talking about "firing MM and TT years ago" when during their tenures the Packers made the playoffs 9 times with 6 division championships, 10 playoff games won, 1 NFC Championship and 1 Super Bowl. On the same day the Brewers are putting Melvin into the ring of honor with 2 postseason appearances, 1 division title and 1 postseason series win.

  13. The biggest comeback in Brewer history in the 9th that I can remember was 7 runs, down 9-2, they tied it and won on a Jose Hernandez walk off in the 10th at County Stadium, today could be the day they finally have a bigger one.
  14. Would there be another word to use when you have a hitter with great career numbers and good peripherals this season, who isn't having the normal results he's accustomed to? Have you ever watched or played baseball before? Are hard linedrives a bad thing?
  15. This reminds me of the constant back and forth we have on Chris Archer. "Archer is a lot better pitcher than his numbers show." "But he hasn't been." "Well, he SHOULD be." Luck matters, but when a player is constantly underperforming his peripherals it's time to dig a little deeper and look for reasons why instead of just assuming that its going to turn around over a long enough period of time. Here's the reason, most people can't accept the randomness of the universe. They want to attribute everything to a reason. It's a game with plenty of luck involved. Hitters try to hit a ball as hard as they can, sometimes those balls are hit right at someone, it can happen over and over again and a previous result has no bearing on a future result.
  16. Nope no luck in baseball, all well hit balls are hits, all bad hit balls are outs, cut Braun
  17. He should work on getting luckier. I'd rather guys work on hitting dribblers that stay fair than linedrives.
  18. Fails? He hit a rocket. Yelich was clutch tho with his hit!
  19. Come on Braun, time to make up for the dropped pop up!
  20. Probably the same fans that were booing Machado lol
  21. I think its a really good idea to break in young pitchers in the bullpen. A lot of successful organizations have done this for years.
  22. Stokes hasn't been bad in Biloxi, not as spectacular as Ray, but still very solid, good OBP. Power surge from last year not a fluke. I was expecting a bigger jump, especially since he's repeating AA. The enormous K numbers are a huge concern. Perhaps he hasn't taken a step back, but he certainly hasn't taken one forward either. Until a couple weeks ago he had better numbers than Ray.
