  1. What is Davies issue? Just general effectiveness or "arm fatigue" or did something happen? He was complaining of shoulder soreness after the game.
  2. The Cubs... LOSE!! Magic Number down to 104!
  3. Better than trying this ridiculous facebook live thing, basically couldn't watch the 9th inning because it froze so much, glad i found out on twitter that Knebal finished off the last out, still have no idea what happened.
  4. Shows you how much luck there is in a single game, even the best team in the league will lose when that unlucky.
  5. After today's win, Milwaukee's magic number to clinch the division is 106!
  6. Counsel is far and away the best manager of this team in my lifetime, maybe the best in franchise history once it's all said and done. Seriously, the things I remember past Brewer managers doing are just crazy compared to Counsel. Was at a game where Macha refused to use his last bench player because he was the backup catcher, even though it was late in extras and we had a runner at 3rd and one out, Randy Wolf pinch hit instead and struck out while the Brewers later ended up losing. Was at a game where the Brewers trailed 2-1 in the bottom of the 7th, runners on the corners and just one out, Lopes decides to let Sheets hit for himself, he lays down a sacrifice (not a squeeze or saftey squeeze) just flat out sac the runner to 2nd, Brewers don't score and end up losing. Watched Yost continue to put Turnbow in to close games and never take him out until the lead was gone, doesn't matter if he's walked the last two hitters on 8 pitches, he's the closer and he's not coming out of the game. Watched RR decide it's a good idea to have your #2 hitter laying down sac bunts after the leadoff hitter gets on base to open the game. Watched him decide to put Kotsay in CF in the NLCS! Nothing like Bettancourt, Weeks, Kotsay up the middle defensively! Watched Kameron Loe pitch to the meat of a lefty heavy lineup because its the 8th inning and he's the 8th inning guy regardless of if he's pitched 5 days in a row. Watched Yost put McClung in the 8th inning of a one run game late in the pennant race so he could play beanball and get payback from something earlier. There's probably hundreds more that many of you remember over the years but with Counsel, very few. He manages this team about as optimally as possible and the results the last couple of years have been very good.
  7. This is very true, I can pick at least five guys on each of our minor league teams that hold roster spots, that have basically a 0 chance of ever doing anything in the big leagues. It's the same when you look at the draft past round 20. You can waste a pick on whatever crazy longshot you want, 90+% will never play in a major league game.
  8. I said about 2 weeks ago that I felt the only reason Braun was still batting 3rd was Counsell being concerned about offending him. I do give Braun credit for this for sure. With that said, and I know people are going to disagree with me, I'm mildly annoyed that he had to say anything at all. If it got to the point where Braun felt he should say something, it probably wasn't the first time he thought it. Likewise, if Counsell immediately agreed to it, it probably wasn't the first time he thought it either. This is Counsell's lineup, not the players. At times, tough decisions will need to be made. Maybe even more unpopular decisions among the players than this, and he is going to need to make those tough decisions. They aren't going to always be handed to him like Braun did. Lineup order matters very little. The difference between batting 3rd or 5th is also very little.
  9. I'm a little surprised by this, I know he was struggling a bit this year and pitching exclusively out of the bullpen, but last year he was a solid starter in CS. I'm guessing something was wrong this year, maybe velocity down.
  10. Great find, wish we would have implemented this, especially around 2012ish
  11. He has reached base 4 out of 9 PAs since coming off the DL I guess I’ll just eat my crow, and have my adult beverage and sit back down then Well one of them was an intentional walk, and no xbh, you can still complain.

  14. I mean Chase has been pretty bad all year, velocity is down, strikeouts down, giving up loads of homers. Bad? No. Has he been as good as last year? Probably not. Entering the game he still had a high 3 ERA and 1.1 WHIP. Tossing a guy behind the plate that has zero history with him is pretty silly stuff. Bad? Yes. His results have been lucky up until this point. The era and whip will continue to rise.

  16. Through 50 games we have the best record in the league and a 3 game lead on the division with a magic number of 111. This has been an incredible couple of months.
  17. This is awesome, I've been saying it for years that this is exactly what more teams should be doing. The only reason it made sense in the past for your best pitchers to be starters and for them to start the game is that they could often cover most if not all of the game, if not you go to your best reliever for the last inning or so and that's it. If you're the Brewers of today and a starter almost always pitches between 4 and 6 innings no matter the pitch count and no matter how they're doing, why not use one of these dominant relievers to start the first inning or two? You will maximize the probability of scoring first and you can still save Hader or Knebal for the last inning or two. With the continued evolution of bullpen use in baseball, this is the final step toward optimization.
  18. 1st place, 2nd best record in the league on May 20th, 7-3 roadtrip, magic number down to 116!
  19. Hopefully the last 600+ PAs are a fluke and 2016 Villar along with last week's Villar is the real deal and keeps hitting
  20. Present I'm in favor of every struggling Brewer to turn it around and start crushing baseballs
  21. Offense is back to scoring runs and the team is in first place, don't want the board to die lol
  22. Anyone ever notice how awful that new strikezone box thing is that they have on FSN? It doesn't even adjust at all so on Jesus it starts at almost his ankles and goes as high as upper thigh.
  23. It's less fun at times than past years, but with solid pitching and defense they may actually win.
  24. Very well could be. At least a combination of this plus some hard luck. He definitely needs to get back to some better disciplined at bats but when I see things like: -“Ryan Braun has a .250 BABIP which is basically a career low, on a 20.6 line drive percentage, which is almost a career high.” -“Less subjectively, his average exit velocity thus far on liners and fly balls is 97.5 mph. That ranks 25th out of 379 hitters (min 25 AB). While exit velocity isn't exactly predictive, it does suggest his .250 BABIP is a load of crap.” It makes me feel a heck of a lot better about his odds to come out of this slumber and help this team this season. Agreed
  25. Advanced data says hold off on this hot take. But you have a right to your opinion. At some point, results matter. Dude looks lost at the plate. I don't care about "exit velocity". Cool, he's hitting some hard foul balls and fly outs. He's OBP-ing about .270 and hitting 3rd, and playing every day that he doesn't have a stubbed toe or a tweaked hammy, and making outs 75% of the time in the 3 spot. Did you see what Paul Goldschmidt's numbers look like so far this year? Give it more than a month for guys with proven track records.
