  1. How old is your sunscreen? I read it loses its effectiveness after 1 year. After doing a chemistry experiment this summer, I would agree because even 50 SPF wasn't working for most people.
  2. I grew up in Belgium. It is always fun to tell people where I am from. One time a guy responded, "really, me too!" I disappointed him by telling it was in WI.
  3. My view is that Bud has been good for Milwaukee, the Brewers, and as the commish. It is easy to criticize other's work. He will always get that. He isn't made for TV, and he might not be the best speaker, but his actions have been good as I could expect from him. I think a lot of people confuse what they want with what is best. It isn't always the same thing. I think Bud has always had a good grasp on what his hands were on.
  4. I read this whole thread before watching the video. I expected much worse. I don't see this as a big deal at all either. I think people just like to make their own drama sometimes.
  5. Fresh Water fish aren't that bad. I acquired two of them once. One was a red-tailed shark and the other was some type of Guarmi (sp). They were both pretty neat. The red-tailed shark would eat off the bottom, so that helped keep the tank clean too. They both seemed to be tough fish. I am not sure how long they lived before I got them, but the red-tailed shark lasted a couple of years. The other one was still alive when I moved, so I gave it to someone else. It was doing fine, but her roommate and her had a bad separation, and the bitter roommate took the fish. I don't know what happened after that. The 2 fish I had in a 10 gallon tank, were not much trouble at all. Hopefully someone at a pet store can help you get some compatible fish that help keep the tank clean. My sister also had a gold fish. They are pretty messy, and can grow huge. The fish I had were probably only 4-6 inches tip-to-tip. I liked them a lot.
  6. A co-worker of mine used to work on a bunch of different Drag racing teams. He was on John Force's crew for a while. The did too good, that somehow the team could afford all the performance bonuses. I guess I was always mildly interested in it. I watch it when it is one. My dad used to race at Kakauna and Union Grove about 15 years ago. My cousin takes his '64 Falcon once a while. I don't really have any good info to provide you though. The engines are rebuilt after almost every run. I forgot how much my co-worker said it takes to put together a championship team. I think it was 4 million dollars though (could be way off). I just asked him last week. He said it is dirt cheap compared to NASCAR though.
  7. I went to the midnight show too. It definitely brings out the crazies, which is both entertaining and annoying! I thought there was going to be a fight between the different groups of crazies. Not really the type of people I like being around. I liked what I saw of the movie, but I just couldn't stay awake. It wasn't my choice to go at midnight. I started crashing as soon as the previews started. I never really recovered. I wasn't very coherent for most of the movie. The lady friend kept trying to keep me awake, but I was done. I said if James Bond has a midnight release, we are not going to it. I was excited for the movie, but the time sucks. It is an awful day at work now too.
  8. My team was always called the Armadillo Speed Bumps
  9. Solid B. To pilot a team to one of the best records in the NL deserves no less than a B.
  10. Bumping up a Hall thread. Hall has been nothing but a great teammate as far as I can tell since his agent spoke (and always). He's been doing pretty well as of late, with a big hit tonight off a RHP. His comments in the paper lately sure don't seem like someone eager to be traded anymore. Everyone has their rough moments and says things before thinking them through. This was probably the case with Hall. I am glad he is still with the Brewers.
  11. I am sure I have a couple hundred. I pretty much keep voting while watching the past two games. I have been voting Roberts on the A.L. side. I chose Corey Hart of the Milwaukee Brewers on the N.L. side. I read the latest article where Corey claimed that he and Cameron placed 5th and 6th of all the OF in the general voting. That is impressive. As much as I get down on the fan base when I read the internet, I am glad that in reality they are just as strong and loyal as when I left WI. Good Job Brewer fans!
  12. I don't think it is too bad. I think it tries to reaffirm that overall they a strong organization and that even though this year has been disappointing, they are going to do what has made them successful. They reminded the fans that CC was once a prospect and the core of last year's team was prospects. I am sure CC had a cult following, and many of the fans appreciate the letter when the trade became a vivid reminder of how disappointing the season has been.
  13. I would take the Dback series, because then I could try and get to a game! I don't think I will be able to afford the ticket to fly into Milwaukee. I am rooting for the Dbacks now. edit - obviously I root for the Brewers when they play Arizona.
  14. Yahoo article Jeff Passan didn't have much for analysis, just some nice things to say about Milwaukee.
  15. We have been spoiled pretty good today, but how about a nice exciting comeback win? I am greedy!
  16. I am sure my post will be lost in the hundreds in this thread. I think this will be a trade that will be very good for both teams. As much as I hate to give up LaPorta, I can't deny how exciting this is. When I lived in WI there was a co-worker that always told me the most exciting moment for him as a Brewer fan was when he was at a game and the scoreboard flashed that the brewers traded for Don Sutton. I guess I wasn't at the game to see it on the board, but I feel like this is my moment to remember. Let's hope it works out just as good or even better this time. Congrats to all involved. The Brewer's executives for taking the chance. LaPorta for putting in the work needed to become a center piece in a trade for a reigning Cy Young winner. Be proud young man! CC we welcome you.
  17. At least they didn't let yesterday's game hangover into to todays game. That was awful yesterday. I had to relive it at night when a friend finally watched it and sent text massages about the last inning. Now that JJ's on a tear again, I will probably hear everyone here in Tucson claim they are good buddies with him again.
  18. I'd love to meet up beforehand, but I have a Chemistry final to take first. I probably will barely make the game on time! I can't wait. This will be the first Major league baseball stadium I am going to that isn't in Milwaukee. The new prospect mentioned in the Robin19 released/signed thread is earning major bonus points for this. I will be in Section 114 Row 36 and in a seat between 5 and 8. I will have some Brewer apparel on. Either a white shirt with the ball and glove logo or a blue one from spring training. Stop by and wish me a happy birthday or condolences on a bombed final exam because I am too excited about the game tonight!
  19. Well, I am pretty sure I am going to head up to Phoenix for the Monday game. I finally found someone who is willing/able to go.
  20. yeah, I don't understand how this team could be considered a surprise. Maybe a surprise to get past the Cubs after their outstanding start, but not a surprise to be doing well. Even the few days we spent in last place, the team was never in bad shape. The NL central is pretty good this year. We are 3rd place in the central, but we also have the 3rd best winning percentage in the NL. Not bad for a team for a team where so many of its fans think the manager should be fired.
  21. Did you ever stop to think that both phrases related to the same game? Tavarez was obvious gassed, but he demonstrated that game both the good and bad. Bad: he was walking guys. Good: He's a goundball pitcher, and that is what they needed once the bases were full. The groundball was the best chance to get out of it, but the Brewers didn't get it. I'm not repeating this because my savior, Ned Yost, said it later either. I said it that night in the game thread. I would have done the same thing as Ned. Mota was bad his previous few games, and needed the time off. Dillard threw 32 pitches and gave up 5 runs the night before, and DeFelice hasn't been very good in the majors. Here was the choices: 1. Gassed Tavarez who at least gets strikeouts and ground balls, but walks too many. 2. Gassed Dillard. Probably a good choice if he didn't throw so many pitches the night before and get shelled. 3. Gassed Mota. Had the night off before, but was showing major signs of fatigue in his outing leading up to the night. 4. Defilice. Wasn't gassed, but just hasn't been all that good. I don't see any good options there, so I am going to go for the groundball pitcher. If someone disagrees that is fine, but I don't think it is that hard to see the logic in the move. All 4 choice were a recipe for disaster.
  22. The White Sox played the Brewers in my first game. I remember it being pretty unruly. I am glad my parents weren't there or else I would have never made it to another game. My uncles got into plenty of fights and were pretty immature when they were younger. I know they got into a fight with the Sox fans that game. I pretty sure one uncle ended up throwing a guys sunglasses onto the field and I think he was removed along with the whole group of the Sox fans. I am not proud of that, but I don't remember it too well anyways. The Cubs fans have their handful of jokers, but so does every team, including the Brewers. I have had some of my best times at the park hanging out with Cub fans I just met. I think most people who act like other team's fans are so bad bring it onto themselves. I have never talked to a mature adult in person who said the Cubs or any team has the worst fans. The only people that I have talked to in person that say things like that are pretty much just like they describe the worst fans as.
  23. Yeah, I don't think the people who hate Yost are even going to agree with you on all the bunting. I would guess there would have been another 3 pages to this thread if he would have, including me, a guy who feels Ned is at worst an average manager.
  24. I guess I am scared the bubble is going to burst too, but yeah there are a lot of people involved that deserve some credit. I guess message boards are not always right. I sure didn't see enough to have hope for any of this, but Melvin, Yost, and Maddux all did. Bravo to all of them, and most of all, bravo to Seth McClung for coming though.
  25. I am going to try and get up there for a game. It would be my first non-Brewer Major League Baseball stadium. Let me know who's going. I would probably have to tag along with someone. My baseball friends in Tucson are extremely busy or out of town at that time. I also have no shortage of buckethead shirts.
