  1. Trying to even imagine what kind of offer would interest them on guys like that. Syndergaard for Davies, Hiura, Peralta, and Burnes? I'd probably do that to get a true #1 for 3.5 of his peak performance years.
  2. Going to the game next Sunday. Looks like the first 20,000 fans get a "light sweatshirt" giveaway. Any recommendations on how early I'd have to get into the stadium to get one?
  3. Looks like the Phillies are experimenting with shifting outfielders (swapping left/right fielders) based on hitter tendencies. Never knew Gabe Kapler was so into analytics. I wonder if the Brewers would consider implementing this if the Phillies have success. Would give more value to the Brett Phillips of the world if you were able to have "defensive outfielder specialists". Will be interesting to see if the trade off of putting your better outfielder in the best spot to make plays outweighs the potential downside of putting fielders in a spot they're less familiar/comfortable.
  4. Obviously it's very early to be thinking about this, but any predictions on who will be the September call-ups? The trade deadline will likely change the 40 man roster a bit, but I'm guessing we'll see more guys than usual given the quality of our prospects and the team embracing a depth philosophy. Could have a big impact on the stretch run. I would guess that Bandy, Blazek, Espino, Brinson, Cordell, Scahill, Woodruff, Rivera, Lopez, and Phillips all have a good chance of being called up if they're not up already. Also, do we think that the Brewers would try to get Dubon and Wang on the 40 man to allow for another base running specialist and LOOGY?
  5. I see Brinson is not playing again, has there been any update since he left the game after a HBP the other day? I tried to search on-line for where he got hit/a timeline to return and I found nothing.
  6. With Woodruff, Lopez, and Hader getting close to deserving their shot in the big leagues, do we think that any of our current starters could make the switch to being a relief pitcher? Specifically thinking of Nelson and Peralta. It seems that their trade value is probably fairly minimal at this point (hard to believe a few short years ago people were talking about Nelson being the centerpiece in a potential trade for David Price) but they're young enough and talented enough that maybe they could reinvent themselves. Maybe the ability to add a couple MPH throwing an inning or two at a time could make them valuable contributors? I'd be happy if one of them turned into Tyler Thornburg 2.0
  7. I wonder if we missed our window to complete a deal with the Dodgers last summer because of the other trade the Dodgers did. If Stearns is looking for a top SP prospect, Jose De Leon would have checked the box and the Dodgers were clearly willing to deal him. Puig, McCarthy (to even out the salary), and De Leon would have been satisfactory to both sides.
  8. Sounds like Roy Hibbert traded for a protected 2nd round pick. Wonder how they'll use the open roster spot. Could go after a veteran (Bogut and Deron Williams are both rumored to potentially have their contracts bought out) or they could take a look at a younger player.
  9. Rumor is Tyson Chandler is on the trade block. I know some are in favor of tanking, but I think this team is too talented to truly tank and the difference between the 12th and 18th pick isn't that much. Getting more playoff experience would be great for our young players so I'm more in favor of chasing the 8 seed than in previous years. Do you think the Suns would consider Henson, Vaughn, and a 2nd for Chandler?
  10. Seems like a huge win to me even if Hibbert and Hawes don't contribute. Save some money for resigning Snell. Also hope that this means they're committed to continue giving Thon Maker 10 min a game. He's still a major liability on defense, but he does seem to be improving. Might as well keep trying to develop him while we chase an 8 seed.
  11. Watching Howard dominate the Bucks' centers yesterday made me want them to make a move even more. Bucks management has made some great moves, but $80 million to Henson and Plumlee was such a mistake. I'd be tempted to package a 1st round pick with one of them to upgrade the center position. We've still got plenty of young guys to develop in Maker and Vaughn, we really don't need another rookie. Especially since the Bucks will likely be picking in the mid to late first round. Let's make Plumlee and a first for Bogut happen!
  12. Pretty sure that's the first time "health" has gone in the win column for Henson. Agree about Monroe getting the majority of the minutes. If it did work I'd want to arrange the minutes so that Brogdon/Monroe and Delly/Bogut combos are on the floor as much as possible since they seem to make each other better.
  13. Behind the Bucks Pass suggested Henson for Bogut. I actually like what Henson brings to the table, but that could be a "win-win" for both teams. Bogut isn't as good of a shot blocker but is still a good overall defender. Obviously he's more skilled offensively and he showed great chemistry with Delly in the Olympics. Plus we'd clear out the logjam of contracts at the center position. The one downside I see is that he wouldn't be as good in the transition game as Henson. My solution would be that if we want to be running in transition give Plumlee some minutes and let him try and earn that contract.
  14. From what I understand it does have regional fox sports in some but not all areas. It's not a problem, though, because they supply verification codes for all the major tv apps, so you can stream the games through fox sports go. It works through playstation or the major streaming devices (roku, chromecast, amazon fire stick etc).
  15. Can anyone with DirecTV in Milwaukee tell me if there are any issues with their local channels? I'm currently a DISH network subscriber but am potentially looking to make a switch as they are currently lacking FOX due to a conflict with Tribune broadcasting. When I go to DirecTV's site and enter my address to see which local channels are available it lists CBS and ABC as unavailable...don't want to switch one contract dispute for another. I called to ask, but for some completely terrible reason they said they needed my SS # to run a credit check prior to being able to tell me what local channels would theoretically be available to me. Dealing with cable/satellite companies is beyond frustrating...makes me tempted to switch to Playstation Vue (Sling is also tempting but lack of big ten network is a deal breaker for me)
  16. It seems like most people agree Braun could bring an elite prospect or salary relief but not both given age, injury, and PED history. I wonder if packaging him with one of our elite CF prospects could then get us both an elite prospect (at a position we have less depth at) along with the salary relief. Something like Braun and Phillips/Brinson/Clark/Ray for Urias?
  17. This needs to get finalized so I can move on with my life. The collective blood pressure for brewerfan.net members has to be up at least 10 mm Hg
  18. If the secondary pieces were similar, would people consider getting Gallo instead of Mejia a win or a loss? Completely different types of players/prospects, but would seem to be of similar value to me.
  19. What kind of prospect is Nimmo? Is he a Domingo Santana type prospect (good, not great)? I know that the Mets have balked at including Dominic Smith, I wonder if this would get done quickly if they agreed to include him. I'm in the camp that would love top end pitching, but adding the 1B of the future would have to seem like a win at this point.
  20. If I'm the Brewers and I get strong offers for Jeffress, Smith, and Thornburg I'd trade all 3. I feel like a lot of relievers just need opportunity. I trust Stearns to find bargain FA's looking to pitch in high leverage situations to boost their future contract potential. Internal candidates like Knebel, Torres, Blazek could improve their value and be tradeable in the future as well.
  21. What about Travis d'Arnaud, Zach Wheeler and Marcos Molina? Or is that asking for too much?
  22. Reports this morning that the Dodgers are open to trading Puig and are potentially looking for an OF replacement. Is there any possibility of a Braun for Puig swap? I'm sure there would have to be more pieces involved, but a trade like this could actually be easier to figure out than Braun for prospects. It'd be a big risk, but Puig's age would line up much better with our next window of competitiveness than Braun.
  23. I agree that there is a drop-off at the top 8. My preference would be to try to trade up a couple picks and then package the two 2nd round picks to get into the late 1st. I wonder if Sacramento would consider #8 for #10 and MCW. If Rondo leaves they have an opening at PG. Perhaps they would have less of a problem with MCW's shortcomings as they are similar to what Rondo's are. My dream is that this would happen and then Murray would drop to 8 (unlikely but not impossible).
  24. ESPN reports the 76ers are considering trading Okafor or Noel. I think Noel would be a good fit for the Bucks (although pretty much every team could use a center who is athletic and a plus defender with offensive potential). Do you think the Bucks could make a play? #10 pick packaged with Monroe? #10 pick with MCW and Vaughn?
  25. If Sling ever added Big Ten Network I would switch in a heartbeat. I'm hopeful that it may someday now that Fox is participating. For those concerned about Brewers coverage, as stated by others you can get a Sling package that includes FSW. The downside is that it is in the opposite package as ESPN, so you can only have one or the other. I'm also curious what Hulu's offering will be, from what I understand they are getting in the business of streaming live TV starting in 2017.
