  1. With Arrenado ramping the pressure up on the Rockies, maybe we can hit squeeze some juice from them To Rockies: Hader To Brewers: Ryan McMahon (3rd base of the future), Michael Toglia (1st rounder, switch hittting 1B with plus D), Terrin Vavra (SS or 2b, up the middle prospect Stearns loves), Jacob Wallace (RP with funky delivery the Brewers seem to like) and Jake McGee (solid bullpen piece, owed 9 million this year and then done) rockies get better to appease Arrenado, Brewers replenish some farm and take a chance McGee can be 75% of Hader this year with no long term risk money wise. We would take on about 3 million extra this year (if Hader wins his Arb case)
  2. The Rays have rarely been wrong when trading away a young pitcher...
  3. guessing Edman and ONeil..that might be heavy though from the Cards
  4. Yes they are prospects. I get that and they all have warts. I personally would rather gamble on a ton of upside to keep us competitive over the long haul. Why do we have to get a 3rd baseman in a deal for Hader? If the best offer doesn't include that solution then why take a lesser deal to fill a hole. There are a ton of ways to get 3rd base help. It doesn't have to be a Hader deal. I am hoping to see Hader dealt for the best deal possible, sign Will Harris, then see where the roster sits. It all depends to me on how much they believe in the rest of their bullpen pieces.
  5. I see a lot to like from the Dbacks. If we could land: Kristian Robinson Dalton Varsho Geraldo Perdomo Jon Duplaintier I would jump for joy. I think Varsho is the perfect 26th man for any team. fast, contact-oriented, can play catcher, 2nd, OF (in a pinch), gives you a ton of options Duplaintier can contribute in the bullpen this year. Robinson and Perdomo are two up the middle athletes that Stearns loves. That said I see about a 5% chance the Dbacks go for it.
  6. I get Hader is a stud. One of the best relievers in baseball, but there is a reason we are possibly looking to trade him. Getting more expensive. Was more hittable last year, funky delivery, only impacts 70 -80 innings a year. The reason we would trade him are also known to the teams acquiring him. It seems to me that most around here are looking for a package for a reliever without risk and Hader has risk. If you can trade a reliever for everyday pieces, starting pitching, etc, to me it's smart business to do it. That said Andujar, Frazier, plus a prospect doesn't do it for me. I like Frazier but where does he play, unless you have a deal lined up for Cain but then who the hell plays center. I don't see the frazier aspect, unless he is instantly flipped.
  7. I would have taken a Smith, Matz, Mauricio, Peterson deal from NY before the Smoak signing. Solves 1st, deepens your starters, and gives you another high ceiling MI prospect.
  8. I love it. No holes, less K's, better bat to ball skills, still solid defense... Now get me a 3rd baseman and let's cook!
  9. Smoak is a much better defender it seems
  10. If we can get Lowrie and Smith for a low prospect cost I would be all over it. We would need a solid backup at 1B/3B to guard against Lowrie's injuries but these 2 would fit nicely into the lineup
  11. Lot of autographed cards and numbered cards. Looking for $125 for all of them. I have pictures of all of them. 2 - 2019 Bowman Zach Brown Autograph card 1 - Quentin Torres- Costa Autograph Card 2 - Cam Roegner Autograph cards 3 - Corey Ray 2019 numbered cards (green, purple and blue refractors), 5 - Keston Hiura cards. 3 Rookie cards, 1 1984 insert, and blue bowman 1 - Gold Lorenzo Cain Gypsy Queen 1 - Brandon Woodruff Topps Autograph card 1 - Corbin Burnes Autograph card 1 - Brice Turang Bowman's Best Autograph Card 1 - Trent Grisham bowman's best autograph card 1 - Caden Lemons Autograph card (not pictured) 1 - Brendan Murphy Autograph Card ( not pictured)
  12. I would be after the Rays and see what they would offer up Hader for Nate Lowe, Chaz Roe (offset some salary for TB), Daniel Robertson (new better Perez with OBP skills), Tyler Frank, and Brent Honeywell (total wildcard) TB is still pretty set at 1B, Brewers get a stud 1B for the long haul, Roberston is pretty superflous to them and can backup 2nd, SS, and 3rd for us. Frank was hurt last year but is a prospect I love, Roe is useful in our bullpen and Honeywell is a huge wildcard. Maybe it's light for Hader on certainty and Lowe doesn't exactly play a premium position but it fills holes with upside all over the place
  13. I don't think we are getting McNeil for Hader. I would love it and as dumb as the Met's GM appears to be, I don't see it. With the rumors today they are looking to dump salary. If we can get Dom Smith and take on Jed Lowrie's contract for the trouble I would be all for it. Prospect return should be very minimal for eating the salary. Lowrie is owed 13 million for next year, but it's only for a year and he can still be a useful player. Then we lock in our 1B of the future for 5 years. Basically trading Shaw, Saladino, Claudio, Nelson, Guerra for Dom Smith, Lowrie, 2.5 million and 4 roster spots to spend on fliers... I am ok with that trade off..
  14. Personally I am pretty happy with the offseason so far. Stearns took an objective look at his roster and farm and decided to clean house. I am excited to see how he re comps the roster over the next 3 months. Seems to me he is trying to stay ahead of the MLB curve. Everyone is paying for OBP, HR and K's. So let's go out and try to morph our team a bit away from that model. I think we will end up younger, less expensive, more athletic, with a longer winder and more upside after this is all said and done. I am excited to see Stearns work this offseason.
  15. I see no reason to deal Grisham. He is making it pretty apparent he is Braun's successor. 6 years of a cheap OF allows a lot of reallocated resources.
  16. thank you, I swear I read that post and missed it. I appreciate it.
  17. I have not seen anything on him since last season? I scoured around and could not find a thing. Is he down in Arizona still? I really like his chances when we drafted him a couple of years ago
  18. 1) Trey Supak for Wilson Ramos - yes he is hurt and it's a huge gamble for this year but I feel that is what we need to do. Come mid august you get a huge offensive upgrade at catcher with fresh legs after a month off. Supek is a victim of the 40 man crunch, rather take my shot with him now vs lose him later. 2) Gatewood, Marcos Diplan, Orf (someone has to come off the 40 man) for Eduardo Escobar - Guessing the 2nd piece may need to be a bit better. I know his defense at SS isn't great (actually probably below average) and he is more a 2nd baseman or 3rd baseman at this point but I am comfy with Escobar at any of those positions going forward, I would plug him in at SS leading to move #3 3) Bubba Derby and Trey Stokes for Asdrubal Cabrera - Here is your new 2nd baseman. 4) Keon Broxton to KC for Andres Machado - Keon off the 40 man clearing a spot for Cabrera, get an upside relief arm 5) Villar to CLE for Willi Castro - Need another 40 man spot, Kipnis stinks now I am ok with out pitching, let's lengthen the lineup and grind people out.
  19. I think I would still take a chance on trading for him. Price should be lower and you get a big boost come mid august
  20. Houser is a good pen guy who can go multiple innings, which is right up the Rays ally. They are collecting all these 2 to 4 inning type relievers and I think Houser fits that dogma. Escobar is a FA after this year and is a pure rental, I thought that was a fair price.
  21. Brewers: Eduardo Escobar Twins: Gatewood Supek Brewers: Wilson Ramos Rays: Grisham Houser
  22. I am also very on board for Eduardo Escobar from the Twins. Switch hitter, versatile, and on pace for over 65 doubles this year... sign me up
  23. I would be all over it if there is even a slight discount. His stuff is amazing and he has proven he can get MLB hitters out
  24. My targets that I think we can get for reasonable prices 1) Eduardo Escobar - Twins - on pace for over 65 doubles and has HR power.,switch hitter. A FA after the season. I think we can get him for a Gatewood/Supek type package which I much prefer to whatever we have to give up for Machado. Not a strong SS but passable and can play 2nd, 3rd, and some OF. He is basically Hernan but about 75% better. Plays 6 days a week at various spots with most starts at 2nd, pending target #3 below. I would also make a strong offer to keep him after this season. 2) Jon Gray - If the Rockies are willing to sell at even a slight discount I would be all over it. He has high level stuff 3) Asdrubal Cabrera - Shouldn't cost much and would be a huge upgrade the rest the year at SS. II would also like to see Nottingham up shortly to replace Kratz and starting 4 days a week. . This would lengthen our lineup and hopefully make our offense less boom and bust.
  25. They have internal options...But they dont' really fit that team and are very upgradable. They are clearly trying to win now. Lucroy improves them tremendously right now. Their internal options aren't great for where they are. Swihart was rushed last year and his defense needs work, and they are not in a spot to give him that time in the majors. The Brewers are. I would argue that Vazquez and Hanigan are black holes on offense. They very well may be ok with that for their defensive prowess but adding Lucroy lengthens their lineup and they don't lose a ton on defense. I will add I don't think those deals are on the table right now and barring injury or desperation won't be until June or July. That said I think there is a solid chance the Red Sox will be involved then. I think the Nats are involved as well at that time.
