  1. They have a whole mess of young and talented arms. I'm targeting Mckenzie and Aiken.
  2. That's gotta be a record without losing a future pick. Bravo to our FO and Montgomery!
  3. Tom Haudricourt says that our price remains very high on Lucroy. Sounds like JD was looking for a bargain... I remain strong in my belief that you don't bend on your asking price (especially as a young G.M.) it sets an awful precedent for future negotiations.
  4. Quick hypothetical... for a headliner who would you rather have (assuming they're on the table) Gallo or Profar? Part of me is scared to death of the contact issues with Gallo, and I really want Profar, but another party of me is just enticed with Gallo's power. I'm getting to the point of just saying F it go for the power just for how fun it will be.
  5. Per Chris Cotillo Good to finally hear something new.
  6. Can't think of a move that has absolutely blown up in his face. So he gets a grade A from me especially with how many deals he has swung. However, I am in the tanking boat so we'll see how successful this deadline will be for him in regards to that. I do respect that he sticks to his price... sets a great precedent for future deals.
  7. We gave up quite a bit to get that package. Looking at that trade the day it happened the return wasn't that incredible. This trade however...looks quite amazing for the Padres right now. I mean no disrespect to you at all and it's not only you with this mentality, but is it possible that prospects are being valued too highly right now... especially in a sellers market? Espinoza is far from a sure thing, and maybe San Diego wins this deal 5 years in the future with their new ace. But it's also possible he doesn't come close his ceiling. I say it's a win-win. San Diego gets a high upside prospect. Boston bolsters their rotation with a young, controllable all star.
  8. I've got a chubby thinking about what Luc can bring back in a deal now.
  9. Clevinger, Mejia and Sheffield were ranked 69, 70 and 71st in BA's mid season list and McKenzie has the highest ceiling of the 3 pitchers. I think that's a very fair proposal. It lacks the star power but is loaded with depth. Which is the wrong move IMO using your best trade chip. I will say I am very tempted by it if instead of Clevinger Aiken is included.
  10. Unless Stearns is replaced by Ruben Amaro Jr... No dice.
  11. Couldn't agree more - they just got a starting pitcher that has succeeded at every level of the minors with career numbers of: ERA 2.52, WHIP 1.01, K/9 9.5, and K/BB ratio 3.9/1. If I told you this guy was 22 instead of 27 everyone would be drooling over him. I'm no scout, but to me it looks to me like they got a controllable legit starting pitcher. Oh and a 20 year old AA IF to boot that many are considering the better prospect in the deal. To me this seems like one hell of a haul for freaking Aaron Hill. I third that original statement, and I gotta say I love that avi.
  12. Maybe this article would help? http://m.brewers.mlb.com/news/article/187910104/brewers-sign-chad-mcclanahan-for-12-million/ Thank you I got a little nervous when it said we went over our bonus pool. This clears it up for me.
  13. Innocent until proven guilty regardless of what the writer thinks. Really sucks to hear that Kang may be a scumbag though.
  14. Man if I'm dealing with Dodgers I'd have my eye on Alvarez as a very strong secondary piece. Honestly I may take him over JDL...
  15. So is it true he has two projectable 70 grade tools? If I remember correctly something like power and speed...
  16. I'm curious what are the ramifications for going over the bonus pool allotment? I know there is no way our FO would allow us to lose our 1st rounder, so are we taxed more heavily?
  17. He'd complement Harper perfectly. They really are missing that dominant RH bat in the lineup. I wonder if eating Werth makes Braun an even more attractive option.
  18. Man watching Seth Beer gets me excited. He's eligible in 2018 right? I'm all in on tanking for him.
  19. God I'm ecstatic that Gomez trade didn't go down. Will the Wilpons pay up for Gourriel? What's the estimated contract he'll receive?
  20. Yep, if we're dealing with the Mets I'm dialed in on Conforto or Rosario. Conforto is having a down year so far mainly because of this awful slump he's in. Maybe the Mets sacrifice future offensive potential for an impact bat. I doubt it, but that's the only way a deal get's done IMO.
  21. I would argue it has nothing to do with living a free society. It is talented players never having to adjust to top tier talent like in the majors. Many of these young guys arrive, have success, then falter after the league makes an adjustment to their play. And let's not lump all the Cuban players into one basket of failures. Cespedes, Chapman, Jose Contreres, Yunel Escobar, Livan Hernandez, and lots, lots more have done just fine. Just like the major league draft of free society guys, there are some who pan out, some that don't. I think this is spot on.
  22. How is that racist in any way? His opinion may not be correct, but the idea (in today's day and age) that anything not seen as PC is "racist" has become platitudinous.
  23. Can say I don't like Norris, Harvey, Wheeler as headliners
  24. That trade for Boston is pretty bad considering Wheeler has yet to pitch coming off TJ.
  25. I disagree that Flores is terrible. He's a pretty decent player who's also versatile. That said, it would be underwhelming as hell if he was part of a Lucroy package.
