  1. Milwaukee tried to catch lightning in a bottle with a lefty in the pen. For a one year deal and a million bucks how could anyone be ripping the FO for signing him? Low risk, potential high reward if he would have pitched well as a lefty. He didn't and for now he's gone. Worth a shot IMO. It was essentially Capuano from last year with less money. Even on rebuilding teams there have to be guys to soak up innings.
  2. Wei Chung Wang is a good option too, which was picked up by the franchise itself with WCW Wednesdays. Even though he had little-to-no major league success.
  3. Maybe it's not as high of a priority to the new regime as it is to the fans. Magnifico was DFA'd with an 80 grade FB.
  4. Perhaps not everyone, but my larger point is everyone is losing their minds with such small sample sizes all over the forum (calling for Villar to be waived instead of Gennett, the 25 man roster construction and bench, obviously the 40 man, etc.) A perfect example is a few days ago many were calling for Barnes to be sent down after a terrible spring but yesterday he looks pretty good and no one is saying a word about that. The potential and stuff for Diaz could be for real but we need to keep in mind it's so very early in the season, 1.1 innings, and there's still a very real possibility he is offered back to us at some point throughout this long season.
  5. Let's also keep in mind that if Diaz pitches yesterday and gives up 3 runs everyone on here is saying "it's a good thing he wasn't put on the 40 man." Small sample size, everyone. He potentially does have great stuff but let's keep in mind it was 1.1 innings. Don't lose your mind.
  6. ... crossing my fingers that Luis Ortiz's gain is good weight........
  7. Reports are leaning towards David Price having a potentially significant injury to his pitching elbow. If the Red Sox were to contact Milwaukee regarding a Guerra deal what could a potential return look like? I think Boston may really benefit from a guy like Hernan Perez too. Curious as to what others think as a package for Guerra individually and with Perez added too. Their system seems top heavy, wonder what it'd take to pry in interesting piece away.
  8. Pet Peeve: I really dislike it when posters spell player's names incorrectly, especially when they butcher Santana as Santiago. Crossing my fingers as it being autocorrect but I've seen it before and it's cringeworthy.
  9. How so? We literally do not know half of the players coming from the Los Angeles end to Milwaukee.
  10. Comments like this are why many on this forum do not like your posts as you are extremely condescending. In reality, no one knows anything about trade rumors and proposals more than the next guy.
  11. Could anyone see a scenario involving Braun heading to Miami? I know they've got a pretty nice outfield already but their GM seems to not really have a long term plan regarding the franchise. Maybe a trade of Yelich to free up left, then have a Braun, Ozuna, Stanton OF? They'd have a few intriguing pieces down on the farm as well and Braun can't block a trade to them (unless it's the one team he recently changed).
  12. And keep in mind MLB Pipeline is going to rerelease the rankings sometime in January and numbers from this past year do not necessarily reflect the grades these players would receive right now. Odds are players like Peralta and Woodruff will receive bumps in their overall evaluations due to their velocity/control/pitchability/etc.
  13. Don't know anything about the guy, this move might have no significance whatsoever, but I think I love it way more than I should.
  14. What did you expect Milwaukee to do? And you do know the offseason literally just started, right?
  15. I kept thinking throughout the series about the Indians and the almost trade with the Brewers for Luc. A good hitting catcher would have been really nice behind the dish in that series and it again came up last night when Yan Gomez's throw skipped into the outfield as Heyward cruised into third. I know you can't say history would have happened the same exact way with the Indians making it with Luc and stuff but I'm sure it would have been nice to have that sport completely figured out for two years instead of not promising he gets his spot back when YAN GOMES returns from injury. I also thought about it with the Indians and their outfield pieces. I always thought before the deadline Braun and Luc make so much sense for that organization right now, two big bats playing at positions of need in that lineup. Turns out those two positions may have been two of the biggest to hurt them in this series with defensive and offensive blunders.
  16. Great game seven, can't wait for game eight. Just tell me there's a chance the Cubs and their fans didn't win a World Series. Please? Anyone?
  17. Dang a back-up catcher with average defense! That has to get one excited. Relax, they only gave up a 42 HR, 102 RBI controllable bat in his prime to get him. *Gave up a guy who didn't have a roster spot on our rebuilding team* There you go.
  18. Wow you guys. I think more respect should be shown to him than what is being said in the last few comments.
  19. I'm pretty sure Uecker used to regularly do the World Series so I don't really the issue there. It's not like he's doing it for the Cubs he's doing it for national television.. The real point I was trying to make was that he's work for the Brewers for a very long time, the Cubs all of a sudden make the World Series, and our own Bob Uecker calls it for them. Maybe I should have spelled that out a little more but I thought my point was a given.
  20. Aside from everyone else's posts demonstrating why your point isn't necessarily valid, there have been countless studies that show building a stadium or developments around an area that actually do more detriment than good. Just because business A moves right next to Miller Park, it doesn't mean jobs are created. It could simply mean the relocation of a business from one spot to another. Another example is raising property tax. Raising this tax to fund the project could price out people from existing neighborhoods if they can't pay their new taxes. Not a good scenario. The same idea that you need to spend money to make money, while can work, is why athletic departments that are not big time programs consistently don't turn profits and is also one of the main reasons our country is 14 trillion dollars in debt.
  21. I don't even get why people are genuinely upset about this. First of all, who cares? Miller Park isn't right in the heart of Milwaukee. In fact, it's nicer for entering and leaving the ballpark that it's not. I'm willing to bet the same people complaining that the surrounding area isn't nice would be the same people complaining about parking/entering/leaving the stadium on gamedays. Speaking of those people, they're likely the same ones who would expect this surrounding area around Miller Park to be completely privately financed. We seldom see that, so that's essentially out of the question. These same people would complain about tax enhancements to finance this project. And what would this surrounding area add? If it were shops and restaurants, would that cut into the tailgate aspect? Wouldn't the Wisconsin faithful just tailgate rather than sit down at a restaurant for the same burger they could make on the grill for $1 rather than $15? At the shops are you going to spend $200 on a jersey when you can find them online with free shipping for 65% less? More economics than I intended to post about but the reality is I don't think it's feasible to build up the surrounding area of MP, and just because the Cardinals are doing it doesn't mean fans have to be upset with the franchise for dumping hundreds of millions into an area that won't be a significant money maker.
  22. The return for Guerra won't be equal to his upside for the Brewers. Should he post a full season of 30 starts with an ERA around 3, his trade value would skyrocket or the Brewers could just hold on to him as a tremendous value. Anderson can be moved but it would have to be part of a package. He's a reliable 4-5 starter that most teams probably aren't coveting. Teams still might view Nelson as having untapped upside and make offers for him. I think the likelihood of Guerra surviving a full MLB season healthy with an ERA around 3 would be a gamble to try to achieve for Milwaukee. Older pitcher with elbow problems isn't necessarily a guy that I'd trust to put together that type of season. With the shortage of this year's pitching market this might be the best time to sell high on Guerra. For the same reasons you listed for Chase Anderson, I think teams would welcome a reliable veteran 4-5 starter, especially looking at his last handful of starts. Maybe he truly found something ditching his cutter. Could bring back something somewhat worthwhile as well.
  23. I know it was just a funny thing going around for a little bit but the idea that Uecker should call the World Series in place of Joe Buck would have been the saddest turn of events in Brewer history. Cubs make the WS for the first time in something like 2000 years and our own broadcast legend calls it for them. That would have been the most humiliating thing for the Brewers in Cubs history hands down.
  24. Depends if you're a Monday Morning QB, like many that post on this very thread. Seriously though.
