  1. Please someone tell me some reasons why I should be excited about acquiring aforementioned Gausman
  2. I like the threads of concentrated opinions on some of the guys the majority of people aren't talking about (Hader, Brinson, Phillips, Hiura, etc.).
  3. Kind of just a philosophical question I guess because I don't pretend to know all the in's and out's of scouting and technical changes with a player, but with such a history of success at college's highest level matched with speed and consistent hard contact why do teams draft a player and then make large swing or stance adjustments immediately? I get trying to tap into some potential power or average or whatever but if a player has had consistent success and they're drafted very highly like Ray or Jungmann (and plenty of others) or traded for like Brett Phillips and immediately told to change, wouldn't that hurt their psyche? I think Ray could be a small adjustment away from sky high confidence and hard contact again but for all of these high profile prospects I always wonder what if a team hadn't tried to change everything about them and continue on their upward trajectory.
  4. Love all these knee-jerk reactions. He hasn't been the player we all hoped when he was drafted but to call him a bust is just silly. Glad you guys aren't running a team. What exactly have Benson and Lewis done (other than being over 6') that has been so impressive thus far? I also don't believe front offices care about a couple prospect lists and where a guy fits on them. Trying to "sell high" on a guy ranked second before he slides to fifth seems nitpicky and forum based to me, don't you think? Way too early to tell if it was a whiff or not. If he bats .280 next season with good K/BB rates and I hope everyone bashing him eats crow instead of sitting silent. People have up and down years and hopefully this is no exception.
  5. Davies over Nelson and Chase Anderson for pitcher of the year? And Suter over Hader?
  6. +1 It's funny how the perceptions of people literally change on the drop of a dime. Especially on a forum.
  7. +1. Also gives us reason sometimes to back down from our hard-headedness. Lol.
  8. Maybe more seriously does Darnell Coles?
  9. Their corner fielders are Almonte, Guyer, and Austin Jackson. So, in the outfield. Not his question. He'd slot right in to our open DH spot
  10. Have you watched this game? The pen isn't great but Counsell has managed it incredibly poorly tonight. It's easy to say what the correct call was in hindsight. What CC has to work with are a bunch of square pieces to put in round holes. His best bet might be turning to position players for the 6-7-8ths.
  11. It's comical reading through all these pages when it's negative comment after negative comment. A bunch of crap in the pen and we all act like we could manage it better than CC. Laughable.
  12. All praise Brewcrewin07, for he is competitive and can't handle losing.
  13. .. and that would have fixed our bullpen problems? Knebel has been great. We needed to replace about 5 guys... not 1. Who knows but Holland would of been closing and Knebel would of been 8th inning guy. It's also cute to say that with hindsight 20/20 vision. I for one was totally on board with the Feliz signing and thought he'd put up great numbers here. With that velocity how could he struggle? Boy was I wrong. Looking back of course we should have signed Davis or Holland. The problem is you never really know what you're getting with a reliever.
  14. Everyone does realize that Hader threw essentially one pitch in his 53 pitch outing last time out, doesn't have starter command with his arsenal, and if he'd be in the rotation it'd make our already terrible bullpen 100X worse in a blink of an eye. Moving him to start makes our weakest point far worse. Then what?
  15. Plus Lara's ankle exploded sliding feet first into a base, he should be ready to go for spring training 2018.
  16. Troll level: Infinity.
  17. Going to the game on Sunday, can't wait to see some of these young guys in person.
  18. Ted Simmons would say literally anything on a Brewer broadcast about the team. Anyone would. The more I think about it the more I warm to a trade for Sonny Gray. There's a ton I'm skeptical of but I do believe the shot in the arm that the Cubs received extends farther beyond the diamond. That's an adrenaline rush that cannot be measured and is working wonders right now for them.
  19. Umm why play with switching positions mid season, in a pennant race?
  20. I haven't been enamored by any of the "TOR" available starters available this summer so far but if Stroman becomes available he's a guy I would definitely think about putting a massive package together for. It'd be nice to know if he'd be willing to sign an extension here too before a deal. One can dream, right?
  21. Hypothetically say Guerra keeps up his excellent pitching and posts a 2.8-3ish ERA at the end of the year. Totally get wanting to go for it next year, but would you field a trade offer for a AA-AAA TOR type for him? The tradeoff would be a far younger starter with more control but totally unproven. A deal may look like Guerra for TOR potential AA-AAA and maybe another top 20 prospect? What are your thoughts?
  22. When other posters say that it's all over other team's forums, where do you guys go to see that? It'd be nice to have a list of other clubs fan forums to check up on. If you could post any other you know of below that'd be awesome.
  23. I think a conversation like this to Chicago has Hahn hanging up the phone while laughing. Bickford is maybe a starter, been suspended twice for drugs, and has reportedly lost velocity, also hurt. Broxton is not a top 8 center fielder, and Davies is almost as unproven as Bickford is. Great last year but this year he's been very hittable and his control has not been great. I think the proposal that you laid into would be far closer and probably a realistic foundation to get a deal going. Quintana IS an ace in every sense of the word. He's solid, controllable, cheap, and dependable. I don't think he's the one I'd want to target, though. I like the idea of trading for Gerrit Cole but big deals within the division are very risky (ask Pittsburg about Jason Rogers). I'd much rather wait this out right now TBH. I like the idea of buying value this FA period with the historic crop. Guerra could also be our #1 this year if he performs how he did last year. Big if but worth the risk IMO.
