  1. My thoughts exactly DJ43
  2. 1. Corey Hart sac bunt 2. Braun lifted early AGAIN! 3. Matt Wise in the 10th. Yosted right out of the playoff race. *Sigh* Bring on Favre's team!
  3. Logan, Actually we agree 100%. Like you, I think it's important to prevent runs late in the game but I also think you have to give yourself the best chance to score them at any point. Runs scored in the 7-9th are just as valuable as runs scored in the 1-6th. As such, I think Yost should be making a substitution for the player who is least valuable at doing both...Rickie Weeks. Ryan Braun and Rickie Weeks are both equally bad defenders. One of them needs to be removed late in games. Braun still gives you a better chance to score late in games (and we've needed it). You need to leave him in. Ned just hasn't figured that out yet. Glad to see we're on the same page.
  4. Again you avoided the point. They are both bad. Bad enough to cost you games. I'd say it's closer than you think as to their defensive ability. But why sub one and not the other especially considering: Braun OPS=1.029 Weeks OPS=.744 I don't have a problem with Ned removing Braun in the 9th inning with a lead for defensive purposes. But if there is a chance that Braun may come to bat again and you take him out in the 8th why not take Weeks out instead? It's an indefensible move IMO and it smacks of Ned's old tendencies to stick with more established guys over rookies no matter what the data says.
  5. #1 Graffy is not here so I'm not sure how that has any effect on why Braun is or isn't removed for defense before the 9th. #2 The difference between Weeks and Braun deffensively is negligible. Braun may be slightly worse (I'd argue that it's a wash) but Weeks plays a position where bad plays will "hurt" more later in games. Not to mention the difference in Braun's bat over Weeks' bat more than makes up for whatever defense he might lack over Weeks. #3 It is another example of Ned choosing an established player to stay in games versus the rookie even thought it might cost us chances to score runs late in games. I repeat my Nay. Hooray for 1st place BTW.
  6. Oh...I wanna play! http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b18/blazer25/Quevedo.jpg Ruben http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b18/blazer25/acd22cc5.jpg Allen http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b18/blazer25/bb51bb14.jpg San Diego is that way Davey...now get out and don't come back!
  7. Really? I've never seen it brought up. Enlighten me. I think it's one of the worst things Ned has done of late. Especially when he's been leaving Weeks in. As for runners on 2 & 3rd with one out giving you a better chance for one run...sure in a vacuum. But Corey Hart up (Jenkins on deck) with a runner already in scoring position vs Estrada batting with the bases loaded and 1 out seems to be an easy choice for me. I guess Ned was comfortable with a chance for only 1 more run rather than a chance at 2-3. With the lead at home I go with the chance for 2-3 every time. Exactly TLB.
  8. Condescension is no way to go in this forum. There are a lot of people who know a lot of baseball on this forum. The bunt was a poor decision for a "chance" to get 1 more run. You had your hottest hitter of the day up with two men on (and the lead) and you gave away an out for no reason. Not to mention Hart is the Brewers fastest player and doesn't get double up very often. Not to mention Jenkins was on deck and got IBB'ed. Yost took the bat out of two of our best players hands for the chance to get one more run. Even you "players on the field are all that matter" guys have to see the error in that management strategy. And again explain to me how it's a good idea to take Ryan Braun out before the 9th inning for defense but it's OK to leave Weeks in?
  9. Nay. Fifty times Nay. Even if we make the playoffs. We generally win in spite of this guy. Tonight's game was actually well managed for Yost BUT... If he contiunes to take Braun out with 2-4 run leads and more than one inning left for "defensive reasons" I'll scream! He's done this two days in a row and it cost us a chance to have one of our top 2 hitters at the plate, with men on, late in the game. Inexcusible if you ask me. 9th inning defensive replacements are fine but the 8th or 7th? Ned, if you want to get your fishing buddy Counsell some defensive innings put him in for ole #23...not our second best offensive player! And anyone who thinks Yost isn't in love with the bunt please explain how you have Corey Hart (2-3 with 2 doubles) bunt with your team up a run in the 8th inning and 0 OUTS! YOSTED!
  10. Isn't there a poster with the handle "RayKing'sForemanGrill"? He should be doing backflips at this point. Welcome back Ray...please don't eat JJ Hardy...we need him.
  11. I'm missing the 15 connection here. Help?
  12. Ben Sheets made it through 6 innings...that may be a gold lining. We got to watch Zambrano blow up...always fun. These Brewers just might keep the Packer Green and Gold in the closet for September.
  13. Or Ben Sheets could just be made of glass... Dude has more weak injuries than anyone I've ever seen. Blisters, sore fingers, inner ear infections? I'm just waiting for Ben to hurt himself sneezing or to go on the DL with a broken finger nail. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/eyes.gif Toughness does not seem to be Ben's strong suit.
  14. Brewerfan, I'd love to buy them. How much, where are the seats and where do I need to get them at?
  15. Mine would be the Reds and Indians...I guess I like Ohio. I've liked the Reds for various reasons but Griffey and Adam Dunn are awesome to watch. Griffey has been my favorite MLBer since he was a rookie.
  16. Huh? You know he's 20 years old right? And he's just been called up to play LF and bat 2nd for a team in the middle of the playoff race. I'm not really sure what "numbers" we're talking about MSC. What "numbers" indicate future superstar anyway? I'd have thought a nearly .390 OBP in two years in the minor leagues would be pretty good. I know his OPS hasn't been superstar level but you're forgetting that he's 20. His SLG is going to go up. Believe me when I tell you the kid has better raw power than Braun. When he figures out how to use it at the big league level he's going to be Griffey-esque. He's a superstar. He's also a really grounded and humble kid. He's a guy fans will love for years. Detroit is lucky to have him.
  17. I'm positive I saw some sort of fried cheese concoction last time I was at MP (Reds series). It looked like cheese curds but could have been mozzarella sticks (which I think they have on the club level)? We need an expert. On another note, the cheese fries in a helmet are simply amazing!
  18. Weeks is heating up! Gross is heating up! Bush is heating up (for five inning spurts)! I'm starting to come off the ledge...We'll see how it goes against Webb.
  19. Kyle Skipworth is my guy. He's Joe Mauer good. I also like Eric Hosmer but he's a gimmie. Third favorite guy was Robbie Grossman, I got to see him play 8-10 games this summer. For pitchers I'm a fan of Michael Palazzone, Michael Tonkin and Nick Maronde.
  20. The ridiculous part about the Porcello deal was not so much the 7 million but the Major-league deal for a HS kid. Absolutely asinine.
  21. Former Blazers who signed this year: Cody Scarpetta-Brewers Brett Zawacki- Cardinals Cal Stanke- Dodgers Ryan Zink- Yankees That brings our total to 13 former guys who are in pro ball. Congrats.
  22. Just a vent man...just a vent.
  23. Third Place here we come... Sad to say that I called it on August 1st. Right Here Oh Brewers...why must you be so Brewer-ish?! And Ned's leaving Cappy in the rotation. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/frown.gif The Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club is an EOE that is now accepting applications for their top management position. 24. That's really cool. It does math and unit conversion as well. Try texting this: 55 mph in kph...and you'll get a result.
  25. Esox, Glad you were there. Worst series of the year and worst picture ever. Your pic is actually quite fitting of how the Crew played over the weekend...terrible! I'm sure it was a great pic on your phone but the taste from that series makes everything seem worse!
