  1. How about them adding a couple games from the Brewer minor league affiliates. I know I would watch. I'd definately watch too.
  2. of course we gave them Dan Kolb, so we must have known something too http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  3. wow....thats gotta be the first live telecast on that channel. Ive always thought Time Warner was dumb for showing replays of games instead of live ones. Why they dont how Admirals, Wave, and High School Basketball games live was always beyond me.
  4. The number of seasons will definately go up this year....Weeks, Hardy, Hart, Fielder, and probably Rottino, Gwynn, and Braun, will make 7 this year...Gallardo would be 8...so i dont think thats something we need to worry about. As far as Jack Z., the only thing i dont like about him is his insistance on taking HS pitchers in the 1st round. I thought the Jeremy Jeffress pick was a terrible pick last year (for the record I was rooting for Daniel Bard). The year he took Mark Rogers, he didnt even take the best HS pitcher, and we all know what kind of prospect that pitcher has turned into now (I'm talking about Homer Bailey of course) If he takes another HS pitcher this year with what, the 7th pick is it...??? Its really too bad the way the draft is set up to benefit the teams who lose free agents and not teams that are bad and need help, but we really need a good, deep draft this year to replenish our system because after Inman, Braun, and Gallardo, we dont have much in terms of cant miss prospects.
  5. After the way injuries devastated the '06 version, you'd think more folks would have some respect for depth. thats true but how much depth do you need? we have 6 outfielders right now, not including Gwynn (who can at least play the position without being in over his head). We have 4 catchers, plus Rottino who can fill in on an emergency basis. I dont think it'd be the end of the world if Mench and Miller/Rivera get traded, especially for a decent reliever, which they could really use right now.
  6. So once a guy turns a certain age you should just throw him away?? Gwynn has upside in that he can chase balls down in the OF. He has not proven that he can get on base regularly to use his speed on the bases. And with no power what to speak of he is just a defensive player with a father that was a hall of famer. Its not about the age...again, its the fact that he has had ample oppurtunity to show something in the majors and he hasnt. He has had chances in at least 4 seasons now, and has done nothing. Sure he may all of a sudden find it, but its much more common for someone to continue to play the way they have been than it is to magically turn it around. Again, I am not claiming Gwynn is going to be an all star center fielder for years to come, but in my opinion, he still has a chance to get better (how much better, i dont know). And that comment about his hall of fame father is just a blatant cheap shot people use to knock him down. People need to stop using it. Sure he may have a bit of an advantage growing up, but we're talking about the major leagues here. Teams arent going to simply give him a chance because his dad says to.
  7. Nix is an option because he is part of the 40 man roster like him or not he is part of the roster. He was considered a very good prospect and has battled injuries for the last couple of seasons. In my book he's as good an option as Gywnn Jr. Laynce Nix is 26 years years old. He's never batted above .255 in the majors, despite having at least 100 at bats 3 different seasons. He has never even had an OBP of over .300...thats awful. Gwynn is 2 years younger.and had a higher batting average last season in the majors than Nix has ever had. Granted his OBP was also pathetic, but that can be contributed to his lack of power and his still learning to be more patient. He can also steal more bases than Nix can and is a better defender. He may not be much better of a prospect than Nix, but in my opinion he still has an upside whereas Nix does not.
  8. i think its more so national sportswriters, but i have seen some of the local ones do it too. I want to say even Jim Powell has mentioned it on his radio show
  9. This has been a huge pet peeve of mine all off season....but why is Laynce Nix even bieng talked about as an option. He was not good at all in Milwaukee last season, and has never had success in the majors. He's too old to be considered a prospect anymore, so why are we still talking about him? As far a Benitez goes, I wouldnt mind having the guy, but i guess with him, Turnbow, Aquino, Cordero, and Cappellan, that seems like a lot of right handed power pitchers coming out of the bullpen. Is that a good thing?
  10. is there a lot of war action in there, or is it one of those movies where every bit of action is shown in the previews?
  11. I apologize if this has come up already, but i dont have time to read all 11 pages of this thread. On tuesday "Flags of our Fathers" comes out. I have been looking forward to this movie ever since i saw its previews, because i love war movies. Has anyone seen this one? Can you compare it to my other two favorite war movies, "We Were Soldiers" and "Saving Private Ryan".
  12. I also like the completely homegrown lneup. Hopefully with the 7th pick in this upcoming draft, there will be a new name somewhere on there (hopefully not another high school pitcher's name though)
  13. I would trade all of those players for literally nothing, so long as the other team took 100% of their salary
  14. i think people are a little overly sensitive with politics and religion, which is why it got locked. i dont have a problem discussing either as long as arguments dont get personal
  15. I didnt read the article, but if they are that high on Yo and questioning Homer's non-third pitch, why is Bailey #3 and Yo #10?
  16. yeah i think if melvin doesnt find a leadoff hitter this offseason it will be a big negative. Weeks needs to bat 6th, in my opinion. It will help him develop his power, as well as add some speed to the bottom of the lineup. As far as moving him, I'd like to see his defense at 2nd base for another season. He made huge strides before his injury. Plus moving both him and Hall to the outfield in the same season makes me al ittle nervous. Especially with Hart, who has only been in the outfield for what, 3 or 4 seasons now?
  17. I think they'd want young pitching in return. Is Mark Rogers too much to give up for Garland? I am not convinced Rogers is going anywhere, but maybe the Sox would like his potential
  18. I dont understand why Anaheim would trade Santana for Garcia. If they are willing to do that, maybe they'd trade Santana for Doug Davis.
  19. Kevin Barker was one of my favorite players when he came up. Too bad he had such a horrible year that we had to bring Charlie Hays in to play 1st base.
  20. I realize prospect for prospect deals are rare, but if tthe Braves are after young pitching, we seem to have a surplus. With Eveland, Jackson, Villanueva, Dillard, etc....would 2 of those players be enough? Maybe throw in a token major leaguer like Turnbow?
  21. I wouldnt mind taking a chance on him, as a backup, if he'd sign for under $1 million.
  22. I like that proposed offer for Ortiz, Ramirez and the Babe. Do you think that package would get it done?http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  23. Baseball America predicted Graffy as a type A free agent, and then Helling and Ohka is type B. If Graffy is going to net us an extra first rounder and a supplemental pick, let him go. We dont have room for him anyway
  24. Couldn't you see the yankees giving up like 15 picks for the first one though??? yes i could, but if the Yankees offered me their 1st through 10th round picks for Carlos Lee, i think i'd do it.
  25. Clancy, but we only have a few roster spots to fill each year. Few teams have more than 20 spots open each year. yeah but you can fill them with extra picks in the 1st 2nd and 3rd rounds instead of picks from the 26th, 27th, and 28th rounds.
