  1. if you are questioning whether you'd trade Braun for Santana, Mauer and Garza, I think you need to get your head examined (no offense) Santana is arguably the best pitcher in the game, and Mauer is one of the top young catchers, a position almost impossible to fill. Add in Garza...are you kidding me? You move Billy Hall to third full time and you have Hart, Gwynn, Mench, Jenkins, and Gross in the outfield until the offseason, when you sign a full time left fielder.
  2. i know its too soon to give up on Weeks, but I'd love to see Hall as the full time second basemen. Outfeild seems to be the easiest position to fill with veterans, and we could easily sign Jenkins to a one year deal if need be. We have Hart and Gwynn both ready for spots, and we have a ton of young outfielders coming up, as pointed out in another thread.
  3. I would take Reyes and Wright in exchange for Braun haha....you'd really take 2 young, perennial all-starts in exchange for Ryan Braun? Let's be serious for a second. No way would the Mets trade Reyes and Wright for Braun. No way would the twins trade Santana and Mauer for Braun. If Philly came calling with Hamels and Utley, I'd probably take that.
  4. I've been to every bobble head game for a last few years now and NEVER have I seen any enforcement of a "No Selling Bobblehead" policy In the last 2 weeks, I've probably seen 200 cars going over the speed limit and not one of them got pulled over for speeding. that doesnt mean its not illegal, and it doesnt mean people arent getting pulled over, it just means that i dont see it. I dont think anyone (staff or MPD) singled him out, but someone must have lied about what he was doing to the cops. The cops have MUCH more important things to be doing at the game, so they wanted to end the contact with him as quickly as possible, which is where the "do this or leave" ultimatum came in. I dont think selling bobbles at Miller Park is much different than walking into Walgreens and offering to sell a pack of batteries to someone for cheaper. Ive never physically seen a sign at Walgreens saying you cant do it, but i cant imagine they'd let you. I'd just say forget whatever happened, and go back to doing what you do next game because chances are nobody will say anything. But i wouldnt make a point of ratting on somebody doing something because we all know in America, unfortunately, people cant wait to get even, even if it's by lying or deceit.
  5. Bryson appears to be absolutely dominating rookie ball, i'd love to see him get promoted to WV soon. Tyson too. I actually wouldnt mind seeing both those guys come up strictly as relievers. It would be nice to develop some true relievers internally (I dont count Parra and Villanueva as relievers)
  6. I think there has been talk about skipping Yo in order to keep his innings down makes sense, he's our best pitcher right now and our lead is down to 1.5 games. Sounds good to me.
  7. I'd say B but i'd hope they'd still be looking for another bat in the outfield. I know some people aren't a huge fan of Jermaine Dye, but I'd hope we'd make a serious run for him if the price isn't too high (after trading our top prospect for a reliever, what would even be considered too high though?) I think another veteran who has been there would be helpful, especially if he plays everyday, because most of the position players who've been to the post season are backups.
  8. Sheets, Cappy, Gallardo, Bush, Vargas, Suppan and Villy. for that matter you can add Manny Parra. I really like what our rotation might look like next season, but unfortunately i think they are going to keep Parra and Villanueva in the bullpen. seems like a waste.
  9. i think i'd rather just keep Cordero, let him walk and get 2 picks for him. The brewers system is getting really thin now that most of the top prospects are in Milwaukee and our #1 prospect was traded for a reliever. We could really use a nice 5 or 6 picks in the first 2+ rounds next June to restock our minor league talent.
  10. this looks like fun, I want to play NL North: Minnesota Milwauke Chicago St Louis NL South Cincinnati Atlanta Houston Florida NL East Philly NYM Pittsburgh Washington NL West LAD San Diego San Fransisco Colorado AL North Chicago Indianapolis Detroit Kansas City AL South Tampa Florida Texas Houston AL East NY Baltimore Toronto Boston AL West Portland LAA Seattle Arizona
  11. You have to admit the Brewers are pretty expert drafters, so having 5 of the top 45 picks makes me feel very happy thats true, but assuming we sign a type A or type B free agent (which we will certainly have to consider if we lose Cordero AND Linebrick), we could very well lose one or two of those picks. Also, I personally would rather have Will Inman than anyone we may get with those picks, because he made it all the way to Huntsville. Sure he struggled a bit so far, but his secondary numbers were good, and he looked as though he was putting it back together. I don't know, trading our number 1 overall prospect for 2 months of a reliever whose stats are getting worse by the month doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. By July 31st, teams like Kansas City, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati would trade their bullpen veterans for a mid level prospects. I think we could have gotten a better deal.
  12. why does everyone insist we need more power? we will have 4 guys, at least (Fielder, Braun, Hardy, Hart) that will have at least 20 Homeruns, possibly 2 more in Jenkins and Hall. What we need is someone who can hit with runners in scoring position (not sure what griffey's numbers are in that). I dont think Griffey is someone we need, at least not for 2 prospects, a starting second basemen, and a good 4th outfielder. you want to make a trade, go get a 7th inning reliever who can actually hold a lead.
  13. sorry brewcrew i found a taker already
  14. i have 4 tix in section 423 row 9. if you want 2 i'll sell them to you for $10 total, but if you want all 4 i'll sell you 4 for $15 total. That goes for anyone, although we're obviously going to have to set up a place to meet (I'm on the east side of milwaukee) in the next two days, and it will have to be after 4:30 pm.
  15. It's been explained many times on these boards, so I'm as surprised as you every time it's suggested to send him back down to save his arm. i never suggested pitching him 350 innings this season. Everyone keeps saying "well this way we can use him in the playoffs" and "at least he wont get hurt now". We are barely over the halfway point in the season. We are not in the playoffs yet. I was suggesting replacing Vargas and Bush with Gallardo and Villanueva to help get us into the playoffs. Right now we have a 4.5 game lead which about 2 weeks was 8 games. There is no guarentee we'll be there in October so let's not base our entire strategy on having him available for the playoffs quite yet. Also too, who's to say he wont slip on a baseball and break him arm tomorrow. Now all the innings we are saving him for arent getting used because he got hurt anyway. If we use him as a starter and he reaches his magical inning total, then shut him down. But I just dont see why trying this hard to limit the innings of a young pitcher with no injury history jsut because other pitchers got hurt before. I'd be willing to guess injuries have much more to do with flawed mechanics than the number of innings pitched. The injury is going to come if you have flawed mechanics. It'll just come later if you limit his innings
  16. Considering a few years ago he advocated playing Brooks Kieschnick every day b/c he thought he'd continue his 1-7 at bat to homer ratio or whatever it is, i dont think we need to take this too seriously. However, i dont entirely disagree. To me putting Gallardo in the bullpen to "save is arm" is dumb. If you want to save his arm, put in Nashville. It just bothers me that we have not one, but two pitchers in the bullpen that are better options at the #4 and #5 starter role. I agree with calling up Parra...he can replace Spurling. As far as a second basemen, i think Graffy could be ok, but i wouldnt mind an improvement via trade. Weeks is playing horribly right now so I wouldnt even mind finding someone to play 3-4 nights a week.
  17. There is no power "quota" for a team. The object of an offense is to score as many runs as possible. nobody is suggesting there is. All i was saying is every person on your team doesnt have to be capable of hitting 25 homeruns every season. And those homeruns look better if someone is on base when they are hit. We'll see if he puts up a decent OBP, but some people on this board are so eager to bash him they will take any shot they can. Honestly, besides his lack of power, what else about his season (not what they think his ceiling is, but what he has actually done) can anyone have issues with?
  18. The guy has absolutely no power whatsoever and that will never change who cares? Fielder is on pace to hit 50 hrs, Hardy on pace for 30+, Braun can probably top 20 after being in the minors for a good portion of the season. How many home runs do you need? Gwynn can get on base, and when someone is on base, those home runs mean more. I am just tired of the "he's no good because he doesnt have any power" argument....its weak. That being said, I dont know where Gwynn can fit in the lineup. Its a shame weeks is playing so terribly, because Gwynn would be a good 8 hitter. He's willing to take the walks, unlike Weeks, apparently, who swings at everything thats not over his head. I think Gwynn would be a good 2 hitter as well, but i dont want to move Hardy down to 3 or 5 and have him change his swing all of a sudden trying to hit more homeruns.
  19. does anyone know where they are shot off from? if i remember correctly, the ones last year were shot off further to the south, as opposed to kind of over the lake in the years past. im just trying to determine where i could go to see them, excluding the actual lakefromt b/c by the time i get there, it'll be way too crowded
  20. thanks...i appreciate it
  21. Are there fireworks at the lakefront tomorrow night? and if so, does anyone know what time they are scheduled to start?
  22. www.jsonline.com/watch/?w...7&id=25165 looks like one more year at least at Marquette for James. I really hope he can focus because if he can, MU could have a pretty decent team
  23. he needs to cut down on his walks. Also, other than his blazing fastball, does he have any other decent pitches? Im pleasantly surprised so far, hopefully he can keep it up.
  24. What would it take to get Justin Verlander? An act of congress
  25. kind of a side note, but i think the Brewers really need to promote Parra. If he succeeds in AAA, especially as a starter, his trade value would increase drastically
