  1. Not sure where this thought is coming from on this board. This is the only game all year that made sense possibly using him multiple innings.
  2. Oh well. I'm encouraged by many of the moves they've made, though. The roster may not be as top heavy as 2019, but I think it stands a good shot of being a better team top-to-bottom overall. I am assuming, though, that guys like Woodruff, Houser and Hiura make a jump, and Cain rebounds. Lots of assumptions, but I don't think they team needs crazy, outlandish production to be a contender. Lots of very nice pieces in place. Lol well to be fair, On Deck is today.. so my first point was obvious. I really wouldn't expect many moves; I think Castellanos may be a 1 year deal candidate with lack of interest on the market (similar to Moose and Grandal). Though, not even sure Brewers would do that. If he does decide to do the one year deal, I don't think he leaves Chicago (sox or cubs). I have not spoken with my connection to the Brewers in about 3 weeks.. they've been busy.
  3. Wow, your batting average just took another jump. Nice work. Lol; wasn't sure why people thought I would troll with names like Smoak/Morrison. If I wanted to troll, I would've mentioned the likes of Donaldson, Wheeler, etc.
  4. Wouldn't get my hopes up for anything significant before On Deck. Or for the rest of the offseason unfortunately.
  5. https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/other/mlb-umpires-agree-to-help-with-testing-electronic-strike-zone-report-says/ar-BBYf2OS?li=AAF3IbP Will be interesting to see if/when this is implemented in the big leagues. Brewers did not commit to Grandal long-term because they believed it could be implemented as early as 2021. Based on the article, it appears anywhere from 2-5 more years depending on how testing goes. A risk the Brewers took, but could be a solid move if it happens. The second half of Grandals contract would be totally devalued.
  6. Yeah nice call. Now tell us that we’re close to signing Donaldson. We aren’t
  7. As noted on Thanksgiving- this deal was basically done by then. More to come..
  8. Well, I got Garcia and Lindblom right. Narvaez for Castro is fine. Instead of Lyles, we signed Anderson. Financially, that was closer to what I had on my list (and one year less). Strasburg? Whiffed there. And the price and years were way higher. But it was a pipe dream anyhow. My non-tenders weren't bad. Missed on Guerra and Claudio. Although we re-signed the latter. I skeptical we deal Hader, but we shall see. I'm guessing we get another starter, but it might be someone like Happ. A lot might depend on where we go with Hader (if anywhere). Good call in Lindblom;
  9. Doubtful a trade happens. Yankees already have an elite bullpen and don’t need to pull the trigger on overpaying for Hader. Brewers don’t need to (and shouldn’t) trade Hader now unless they get blown away.
  10. So last season we had such slow movement on the FA front that notable players didn’t sign til the season was 2 months in. This year almost every major FA will be gone by when the winter meetings conclude
  11. Similar to two off seasons ago, we didn't feel the team had a need for two outfielders yet DS acquired two anyways.
  12. Anyone else wonder if this is another account by the infamous HighHeat19??? This is why I’m not feeding into this. Or the guy that said he had a feeling about a Padres trade. We all have random feelings for possible trades between teams and can all state things about a team or players. Just because something happens a week later doesn’t mean people actually have information. Not saying the guy that mentioned the Padres trade doesn’t have information, but falling into that trap here that people did before leads to a lot of nonsense. If he has information, awesome! I hope he comes out and states that he does and can provide some insight once in a while. But people aren’t going to have much in-depth information on what they are doing. And if they are sharing it anywhere, the organization will weed people out. Really? The organization will be shocked to not have Smoak at first? Even though he’s a free agent currently and can sign with whoever he wants, but the Brewers are confident he’s coming here? Plus, you already know their plan B option? And the details of the Grandal contract and Stearns’ exact reason why he didn’t want to match it? I mean come on. We don’t need this crap around here again. People shouldn’t even feed into this. I’m not asking for anyone to feed into this and I was on this board (not active) when Highheat was a poster. Most of my posts have been complaining about the moves stearns made the last 2 deadlines and both times I ate crow. I don’t expect or really care if you want to believe me or not. Of course things change in the offseason all the time. San Diego came out of nowhere and asked about Davies and look at the end result. I can say with 100% confidence the organization strongly believes if the electronic umping that will start being implemented in the minors (this upcoming 2020) season is a success, that the Brewers feel it could realistically be in the majors as soon as 2021 or 2022. That would de value the last half of Grandal’s contract significantly for a team with no DH. I can also tell you as of right now, the ideal plan for first is to bring in Smoak and they’ve discussed Logan Morrison as a 1b/ outfield platoon. I’m not posting here to troll and get anyone’s hopes up, because quite frankly, none of these moves are really that exciting. I have not heard of anything on the starting pitching front.
  13. Sox site reported Grandal said the Sox were one of 5 teams he was talking to. None were the Brewers. They never offered him anything. They never considered offering him a contract unless it was a similar situation to last year. He wanted to stay long term though- loved Mke.
  14. what other information do you have? Nothing too exciting, San Diego called about Davies first and talks progressed around 2 weeks ago. Grandal gave the Brewers the option to match and they didn’t for the reason stated above. Still talking to Moose, looking at Smoak and Morrison for first. Do not know much on pitching front.
  15. Justin Smoak is in fact very in the mix. Very much so that the organization would be surprised if he isn’t at first this year. Logan Morrison is option B. The organization also strongly believes robot umpires will be implemented within 2 years which is why they did not match the White Sox offer for Grandal (pitch frame value)
  16. Not even close. They had homefield advantage and the best record in the national league last year. Also, the real blow was game 2 in the NLCS. They would’ve won that series in 5- they were the best team in the National League and pitching was lights out from top to bottom with minimal injuries. This was absolutely brutal, but I think most fans (won’t speak for everyone) were just going to be happy getting to watch this team play a few more games.
  17. Was really visioning myself watching a win or go home tomorrow night while RELAXED knowing we’re moving on. Painful. It’s more painful overthinking everything now than it was watching it live. I needed to grow up passionate about weather, economics, culinary arts. ANYTHING other than sports; tough to swallow- and now we all work tomorrow. lol! Good season guys, I only posted here this year when I was adamant they should’ve sold at the deadline- will eat my crow as the moves worked out. See ya guys next year (as a lurker/reader/rare poster) time to not care about sports until the Badgers lose a heartbreaker in Columbus this year! It’s the Wisconsin sports way!
  18. He seemed pretty optimistic when interviewed in the clubhouse after the game. Said it feels better now than it did when he was pulled. Doubt he's in the lineup tomorrow either way, though. I guess at this point I’m just expecting the worst. Sat through marlins game praying only to have myself crushed. Gonna be almost impossible to overcome him and Yelich out (and Moustakas battling issues too).
  19. Calf strain for Braun. Not good news.
  20. The team held serve for a while and did well. Once It was announced that Woodruff was out 6 weeks it was clear this team should have sold. End of story.
  21. Thank god we didn’t flip Moose and Grandal for prospects. Offense has been stellar with them. 30th ranked farm, moose and grandal walking.. dark days ahead
  22. Last minute trades making it a little better. Gennett to Giants, Greinke to Houston, Castellanos to Cubs
