  1. Wow, Hader just literally threw the perfect strike 3 and didn't get the call. Then he threw it slightly more inside and did get the call. This ump HATES that low strike.
  2. Nice comeback by Jennings there to get Bader. If Hader can get through the 8th in less than 15 pitches, I bet he comes out for the 9th.
  3. Too bad Jennings wasn't smart enough to get to 3rd base there, the wild pitch would've scored a run...
  4. I'd be mad at Counsell for pulling Guerra early but we have an off day tomorrow, Jennings hasn't pitched in forever and that was just a good spot for him. Happy that Jennings made his manager look very smart there. Now let's get that run back.
  5. Probably Guerra 6th, then maybe see how far Hader can get them? Maybe he can get it to Albers in the 9th, or a 4/5 out save for Albers? Let's add on a few and make that decision easier.
  6. Bandy just cost Guerra strike 2 there by throwing behind the runner.
  7. https://ibb.co/cPEc4x Wong's at bat. That low strike has been called a ball all afternoon. Glad Guerra came back and got the double play but the ump hasn't been doing him any favors.
  8. Small sample size, but Santana's ground ball percentage is way up so far this year. Has he been spending too much time around Yelich this offseason? He continues to hit the ball very hard, but hoping he can elevate a bit more and turn those hard hit singles into doubles and homers.
  9. Announcers suck (Junior "Gwerra" is pitching, apparently). Also bottom of this ump's zone is pretty darn high. Already seen two pretty good pitches from Guerra called balls (the sides of the zone are pretty wide however). They were showing pitch velo early in the first inning but not at all since, so either their radar gun broke or they just thought you'd only care about the first few pitches. Guerra's fastball was 92-93 which I'm guessing is about as high as we can hope for at this point. I know he used to get up to 95-96 but he also may have been 89-90 at some points last year so 92-93 is probably not too bad. Totally called Perez starting in center today in the game thread yesterday. Glad to see he's making the most of it.
  10. Counsell warming up guys but leaves Williams out there because hell why not he's sending him down to AAA tomorrow anyways. CC not really putting Williams in a great position to succeed here.
  11. Molina's probably pissed he didn't just take that suspension today.
  12. So Williams is being brought in to pitch against......the two guys he could've faced in the 6th.
  13. It's pretty amazing we're in this game given the lineup and pitching we've thrown out there tonight.
  14. I would've rather he just left Suter out there than this. He was still pitching pretty well. This is insanely bad managing.
  15. I was assuming Drake coming in meant a lefty was coming up.....now I'm even more confused.
  16. Oh great, bringing Drake into a 1-0 game with two guys on. I know he's pitched well the last couple times out but these are the exact situations he should not be pitching in. I hope I'm wrong, but would've rather seen Jennings here.
  17. And add Barnes to the list of guys who look impressive in this bullpen. Can't believe how good the bullpen has looked so far this year. Even if Hader moves to the rotation, we've still got Knebel/Albers/Barnes/Jeffress/Williams for multiple years. Even Drake is looking solid now that he can be the the last guy out there instead of pitching in extra innings games. Jennings has looked solid too. Bullpen should keep us in the hunt until we can get some reinforcements to the rotation in June/July.
  18. Starting to think Hader's a serious contender for the rotation sometime yet this year. He's been throwing that slider a lot more and a lot better which is only making his fastball scarier, and if he has a change up as a legit 3rd pitch to go against righties? How long did they keep Sale in the bullpen before they realized what they had?
  19. Hader vs. Carpenter, then Barnes, then Albers in the 9th. Unless Arcia walks here or otherwise reaches without scoring the run.
  20. Ummm since when does Josh Hader have a nice change up? Kid's gonna be in the rotation by the end of the year.
