  1. Of his downfalls, I think he's been pretty good with the bullpen the mast few weeks. I guess the tone of that post could've been construed as negative, but I didn't mean it that way. Counsell's bullpen management has been stellar this season.
  2. Impressive game defensively tonight for the Crew. Nice one, Eric.
  3. Counsell gonna micromanage this one... 2 out of the next 3 are lefties, wonder if Jennings gets all 3 or if he's only in to face Moustakas.
  4. My guess is we see Barnes in to start the 8th, then bring in Hader whenever it gets to Duda, be that in the 8th or the 9th.
  5. I'm probably Santana's biggest fan, definitely thought he could repeat his success last year every year if not get better, but he's worrying me this year. That said, I'm not particularly mad because there was like no market for him this offseason it seems like and at this point he's basically a 4th outfielder.
  6. I know we're up 3 runs but wouldn't bringing in Aguilar make sense here?
  7. Wish I would've said it beforehand, but I was thinking Shaw bunting there against the tough lefty makes a lot of sense.
  8. If Hader's available tonight I'd be surprised if we didn't see him for at least an inning in a save situation, but hopefully we can tack on a few against the awful Royals bullpen and make it a moot point.
  9. Fresh bullpen tonight, my guess is we'll see Hader in the 8th if they're still up with hopes for the 2 inning save, but who gets the 7th? Albers?
  10. Dubon just got his first walk of the season and has a handful of errors already on the season. He's hitting better but could probably use some more seasoning time at AAA. My guess is unless an injury happens we won't see him until June/July.
  11. Good job by Villar clearing the pitcher's spot, erm, I mean Sogard.
  12. Biloxi coaching must be other worldly good, there have been a ton of success stories coming out of there the past few years. Unfortunately it looks like Corey Ray has fallen back to earth from his hot start. Hoping Medeiros can start to limit the walks though.
  13. Kennedy is out. Figured that was a possibility when it took him several pitches to decide whether or not his foot was feeling good enough to keep pitching.
  14. Braun's ground ball rate this year is 48.1%. His career rate is 46.1%. His soft hit percentage is .3% above his career numbers. His hard hit percentage is down a little bit (~6%). This year he's seeing 3.33 pitches per PA. His career number is 3.72. So that's down a bit, not sure how significant that is but it seems decently significant (also pretty small sample size). So he's maybe not quite as good in these categories as his career numbers but not terribly so.
  15. Having Corbin would be great, but it'd only be for this year and while that'd be great for us right now, I doubt either side was really high on that trade. Based on the Souza deal, maybe the DBacks wanted to use Banda instead of Corbin to go get their power outfielder anyways, so maybe that wasn't as real of a possibility as it might've seemed.
  16. It's kind of crazy that the Brewers bullpen is so good that it's going to make it hard to get all of our great prospects a spot even though they deserve one. The Rockies went out and spent over $100M to revamp their bullpen and are sitting on a 5.40 bullpen ERA. Stearns spent about $8M on the bullpen guaranteed and we have the most bullpen fWAR in baseball. In a few weeks our bullpen could be Knebel, Hader, Jeffress, Barnes, Albers, Logan, Jennings. Most wouldn't have expected that to be a super strong bullpen before the season started, but now it looks like the best bullpen in baseball.
  17. Arcia is sick today, the ankle is fine, that's the only reason he's out. They said he'd be in tomorrow.
  18. My guess is it would take at least one good prospect plus Keon to get him now, and not sure it's really worth that for what will probably end up being a 2-3 month rental. He's playing out of his mind right now, and while I would still expect him to be a good pickup, his price is likely overinflated by this strong start. That said, it's pretty obvious we'll be in the market for a 2B at the deadline this year if one of Villar/Sogard/Perez can't improve enough to hold it down this year, so we'll see what his price looks like in July.
  19. I'm starting to worry a little bit that Miley is going to have the Blazek start of this year where you think maybe this will be fun and then immediately regret thinking you ever wanted him in a Brewers uniform. I think Guerra has taken the spot I would've liked to see Miley in and done much better than Miley ever would have. With 4 spots more or less on lockdown in the rotation right now (regardless of performance, I don't see Anderson/Davies/Chacin/Guerra out of the rotation for at least the next few months barring any injuries or extremely bad pitching), and several promising pitchers ready to be given a chance, I just don't know if it's worth it to give Miley a start or two to see if he can be of any help. I think I'd rather get Woodruff in there and see what he can do. Then maybe come June if we think Woodruff isn't doing enough, we can give Burnes a try.
  20. It's going to be interesting to see how Corey Knebel fits into this bullpen when he gets back. The fundamental nature of how Counsell uses the bullpen to get outs has completely changed since he got injured. Not really sure he just slots Knebel back into that 9th inning at this point.
