  1. Baseball America updated their big board today Barrios dropped one to #20 overall, but a new Brewers addition to the top 25 was SS Jhonny Severino from the Dominican Republic, who checked in at 23. He’s more offensive oriented with an ability to work counts. They also said he likely moves off of short. They do think he could handle third with his arm strength though.
  2. Ended up with my top 75 and grouped them into OFP. I am sure this is done with some Brewers color glasses, but I do like the system more than many and I see quite a lot of depth and potential major leaguers. 60 OFP 1 OF Garrett Mitchell 55 OFP 2 SS Brice Turang 3 OF Hedbert Perez 50+ OFP 4 LHP Aaron Ashby 50 OFP 5 C Antoine Kelly 6 LHP Mario Feliciano 7 LHP Ethan Small 45+ OFP 8 C Jeferson Quero 9 SS Eduardo Garcia 10 RHP Drew Rasmussen 11 OF Tristen Lutz 12 OF Micah Bello 13 SS Hayden Cantrelle 14 SS Freddy Zamora 45 OFP 15 SS Jackson Chourio 16 3B Jesus Parra 17 UTIL Zavier Warren 18 OF Tyrone Taylor 19 RHP Justin Topa 20 SS David Hamilton 21 RHP Dylan File 22 OF Luis Medina 23 RHP Alec Bettinger 24 RHP Miguel Sanchez 25 OF Carlos Rodriguez 26 LHP Clayton Andrews 27 RHP Dylan File 28 RHP Victor Castaneda 29 C Nick Kahle 30 1B Thomas Dillard 31 C Payton Henry 32 OF Pablo Abreu 33 RHP Max Lazar 34 OF Joey Wiemer 35 RHP Alexis Ramirez 40+/40 OFP 36 RHP Abner Uribe 37 SS Jheremy Vargas 38 RHP Israel Puello 39 OF Korry Howell 40 OF Joe Gray 41 RHP Zack Brown 42 OF Corey Ray 43 LHP Leo Crawford 44 RHP Bowden Francis 45 RHP Reese Olson 46 OF Eduarqui Fernandez 47 1B Ernesto Martinez 48 RHP Lun Zhao 49 RHP Michelle Vassalotti 50 RHP Brandon Ramey 51 2B Felix Valerio 52 LHP Nick Bennett 53 RHP Noah Zavolas 54 LHP Angel Perdomo 55 UTIL David Fry 56 LHP Quintin Torres Costa 57 RHP Luke Barker 58 UTIL Cooper Hummel 59 RHP Braden Webb 60 OF Je'Von Ward 61 RHP Phil Bickford 62 C Jose Sibrian 63 3B Lucas Erceg 64 RHP Juan Geraldo 65 OF Andre Nnebe 66 SS Antonio Pinero 67 RHP Brayan Salaya 68 3B Branlyn Jaraba 69 RHP Cam Robinson 70 LHP Kelvin Bender 71 RHP Caden Lemons 72 SS Yeison Coca 73 RHP Harold Chirino 74 2B Gabe Holt 75 RHP Freisis Adames
  3. Nobody else in the top 20 was linked to Milwaukee. Just Barrios who is number 19 on the list.

  5. [sarcasm]In a shocking development,[/sarcasm] the Brewers are expected to sign a Venezuelan shortstop. They’re expected to sign #19 Johan Barrios, a 6’2 170 pound SS with a plus arm, chance to stick at short and a solid offensive future if he grows into his frame.
  6. I know the Brewers are “webcasting” the game today. Does anyone know if that will be video, or is it audio only? Edit: I will answer my own question and say it is audio only. Bummer.
  7. MLB.com did have a 55 grade on his arm for last year's rankings, saying, " His accurate, above-average arm is a weapon up the middle and qualifies him to play either outfield corner." I'm curious if that will have changed going into the 2021 season, since they likely got some actual looks at him in instructs. Prospects Live gave it a 60 grade and said, "Will uncork big time arm strength with ease. Gets good carry on his throws and doesn't need to sell out. Will rush throws on occasion and lose some accuracy, but overall the profile will play at all three outfield spots"
  8. “30 arm” for Hedbert is shocking, since we’ve been seeing 50-60 on his arm since Ben Badler originally wrote about him...
  9. Based on this Tweet it sounds like Hedbert wasn’t too far away from the top 100. Would be pretty cool to see him crack it at the mid season update! Talk about a crazy climb since being signed. Obviously Baseball America was all over it from the start, but nobody else saw him coming. Could end up being one helluva find by the Crew.
  10. Prospects Live released their top 30 Brewers prospects today Really enjoyed this write up. I love the individual evaluators giving in depth breakdowns on each of the tools for every player. Interesting that they had some players much higher and much lower than the industry overall. I recommend reading through each report if you have time. Also, the Hedbert hype train does not stop rolling!
  11. Baseball America updated the Brewers article today. Only new information I could see was, “Dominican shortstop Jonathan Guzman and Venezuelan catcher Felipe Valderrama are also expected to join the Brewers’ signing class”. They had a little video of Guzman as well.
  12. Here's the link to the chat mentioned above. The answer he gave about Jeferson Quero is really exciting along with the Kelly one and some other great tidbits. Definitely recommend.
  13. I think you are overlooking the fact that he'll be 35 in April and essentially hasn't played since the end of 2019 when he wasn't very good. It's a big stretch to think he returns close to his 2018 form. Sure he had a lot of minor aches and pains in 2019, but what guarantee is there that he won't incur those same kind of aches and pains at 35? Cain is one of many huge question marks on this team. Cains 2019 numbers would have been 2nd best on the entire team in 2020. By what measure? It doesn't look like his 2019 would have been close to number 2 on the 2020 team... I say this as somebody who very much believes that Cain will be a solid hitter once again in 2021, but his 2019 was really not good. wRC+ of 83 would have been 7th (only using players with 100+ PA's in 2020) his OPS of .700 would have been 7th as well.
  14. Medina was considered a slightly better prospect by some at the time of the signings, but as often happens with teenage international prospects things can change quickly. Hedbert Perez is now ranked the 3rd best prospect in the Brewers system according to Baseball America (behind only Turang and Mitchell), and has reportedly shown impact hitting skills ever since he was signed. He was the youngest player at any MLB team alternate site this past summer, his trajectory as a prospect has sky rocketed since his signing back in 2019. One thing to remember with international signings is that teams often agree to these deals well before they are technically allowed to. So a 14 year old Medina may have seemed like the better prospect than 14 year old Hedbert. But by the time they were actually signing 2 years later, Hedbert could have been the clear better prospect (which based on everything that has happened since their signings, appears to be the case).
  15. The award doesn't mean much in and of itself. But for a team that values defense and versatility, it looks like the Brewers traded away a young home grown player who fits that bill, AND can hit a little bit. I agree, the award has become almost meaningless. Remember Ozuna won a gold glove in 2017 and by any stretch of the imagination he is and was a well below average defender. It has lost much of its meaning. But Grisham was legitimately deserving based on pretty much every defensive metric. The Gold Glove voting has seemingly been better the last 2 years too.
  16. MLB Pipeline with some updates on Instructs here Some great tidbits in here on some of the top guys but also some of the under the radar guys that are showing some things.
  17. Ummm, isn't that what this thread is all about? Allegedly. But on the topic of Kim, it’d be a really fun addition and possibly the highest ceiling of a guy that could be in the Brewers price range. Who knows how the market actually plays out in the end though, of course.
  18. Baseball America released their Top 50 for the 2020-21 class today and 4 future Brewers made the list. 14. Jackson Brayan Chourio (SS/CF) 46. Gregory Barrios (SS) 47. Daniel Guilarte (SS) 50. Hendry Mendez (Corner OF) On Page 1 of this thread there are some scouting reports for each of these players.
  19. I guess there's the indication of what a flop the Urias/Lauer trade was. He couldn't supplant Arcia as the everyday shortstop despite them being terrible at the position overall. Still seems pretty early to write that trade off (even though I was a huge Grisham believer and would not have made the trade myself). Urias and Lauer each missed most, if not all of spring training and then the same with Summer Camp as well. Then the fact that it was a 60 game season in which neither ever had much of a sample size, definitely seems premature to be giving up on it. It very well might not work out, but imo let’s give it a little more time at least.
  20. If Gamel isn't playing, Vogelbach isn't playing, who are you putting on the roster instead of McKinney? Healy? I'm not saying he should be on the roster, the options aren't exactly endless though lol. Mathias maybe? Mathias could definitely be an option yeah. Good call there.
  21. I don't think adding a guy who can't hit or defend would help our already slim chances. If Gamel isn't playing, Vogelbach isn't playing, who are you putting on the roster instead of McKinney? Healy? I'm not saying he should be on the roster, the options aren't exactly endless though lol.
  22. If Vogelbach is out, does Billy McKinney make his Brewer debut in the playoffs? Believe the cutoff for playoff eligibility was September 15th and we claimed him on the 14th.
  23. Binelas was 0-3 against me in my high school career. Were they three rockets off the bat hit right at our infielders? That’s irrelevant. Now I’m just spitballing here, but based strictly on the Head-to-Head high school statistics, maybe I should be the first round pick in this scenario. If the Brewers are looking for a pitcher who topped out at 83-84 at his very best, and currently has a fully torn UCL, I’m their guy. In all seriousness Binelas is a ridiculously good hitter, solid defender, and based on my interactions with him and knowing a few Oak Creek players who played with him, a genuinely good person.
  24. Pretty great story on MLB.com today https://atmlb.com/32KLfHM
  25. There was a pretty great article from Mike Petriello on MLB.com yesterday talking about Houser and what he was able to do last year once he went to the rotation full time, as well as his total body of work. Both his four seam and two seam were elite pitches last year and as mentioned a few posts ago, the results in his dozen starts after going full time to the rotation were extremely good. The article is here
