  1. Wonder what the price on Chris Martin would be if the Rangers decide to sell. He wouldn’t be the main relief piece in a best case scenario, but could be a great complimentary piece and likely wouldn’t cost a ton. He signed a two year deal with the Rangers before 2018 so he’s expiring and is 33 years old. His numbers this year are actually extremely solid and I feel like it hasn’t gotten any attention. ERA: 2.97 xFIP: 2.84 BB/9: 0.74(!) He seems like a guy Stearns would have his eye on if the Rangers do in fact sell. Which is looking more and more likely.
  2. Who? Ethan Smalls? Lane Grindle said he was sitting 91-93 in his one inning in this Tweet
  3. Seems to be slowing down a bit. Only 1-3 today thus far with one measly home run... We might have to consider cutting him
  4. Quero was specifically mentioned along with the two main signings (Medina and Hedbert Perez) by Matt Arnold on the latest "Brewers on Tap" podcast with Lane Grindle. So I searched his name on Twitter and found video of him hitting a go ahead home run against Japan for Venezuela in the Little League World Series a few years ago, which I thought was pretty cool. In the tweet it's spelled with two f's but I googled it and it's definitely him. Anyway, Arnold said they have been really impressed by his ability behind the plate and his strength. He also said that at their camps it would be 110 degrees and they'd be trying to get him out for rest and that Quero wanted no part of that. Arnold sounded excited about all of his tools (didn't mention speed, but he's a catcher). Definitely somebody I'll be watching, I always love hearing about a guy with potential who didn't get one of the big reported bonuses.

  6. Which one of these guys is a TOR arm? I believe the Blue Jays’ abbreviation is TOR. So Stroman
  7. I agree on slowing our roll... But Ray’s production always seemed much more fluky than this does. He was striking out an astronomical amount and walking at a decent clip, while Grisham has been elite in that regard. Grisham’s OPS is .100 higher than Ray’s was last year and his wRC+ in AA was 151 to Ray’s 127. I get that we want to temper expectations because of Ray, but to me they aren’t really that comparable outside of, somewhat suddenly, finding a power stroke and being lefty outfielders...
  8. I can't believe the Giants go for it. Ray is an iffy prospect right now. I can't imagine Moose will bring back any big prospects either. The Giants are giving up three pitchers who individually would bring much more than your offer. Yeah I highly doubt they’d go for it haha, just used the trade value thing as an example of the type of return the team would need for it to potentially make sense from our perspective. I’m still not even sure it would make a ton of sense, but that was why I made the post!
  9. Appreciate the feedback, again I’m not exactly asking for this to happen, just something that I had cross my mind a few times and wanted to hear what others thought haha. I think that there’s a part of me that doesn’t believe Moose will have nearly as good a second half and that Shaw is capable of putting up big numbers himself. But I also understand that Moose is so much more of a sure thing. I suppose more than anything, opinions are going to be based on each persons belief in Shaw turning it around, not even just this year but for the foreseeable future. Honestly, the overall idea I laid out in the post isn’t one that I myself love, but there are definitely deals that I think could make the team better. Especially because of my belief in Shaw getting back close to his old self. Thanks for the input guys, anyone else who wants to add in please do. I’d really love to hear what people think!
  10. This is something I’ve been thinking about for a while now, and before it was just sort of a fun, interesting idea in my head. After this stretch, which I have (probably willfully ignorantly) maintained confidence through the majority of, I’m starting to think it might be worth the risk. The idea is to trade Moose (likely would be a three team trade) but we would not be acquiring the prospects in the deal. In the scenario in my head we use Moose for a few prospects that are in turn used to acquire a package of pitchers. We’d likely still have to include a few of our own prospects in the scenarios I’ve been looking at. Just for fun I figured I’d show one of the ideas I have through the trade value website: Brewers get: MadBum, Will Smith, Sam Dyson (21.1) Giants get: Dubon, Corey Ray, Moose prospects (23.1) Other team gets: Moose (6.3) Obviously that looks weird in terms of value, but if the random team is getting Moose, all that matters is the value of the prospects being near 6.3 (which is what I made them worth in the Giants return). The thought process behind this is that we get value out of Moose, and bank on Shaw potentially having figured it out in AAA. If he has, there’s a decent chance we aren’t really losing any production at third. And in the Giants scenario we would have greatly improved our pitching staff. Obviously it’s a risk, and I’m not even sure I would do it honestly (if we got the return in my hypothetical trade I’d do it 100%, I’m not sure that’s super realistic thought) but I’d love to hear others opinions on it...
  11. 2 more bombs tonight! AAA OPS sitting at .920 right now.
  12. Luis Valbuena passed last year as well after finishing the season an Angel as well
  13. Pretty awesome for a guy who a lot had given up on as anything more than a back end starter or good reliever before the playoffs last year. He went into the offseason and completely overhauled his approach to pitching and started throwing the 2 seamer much more often and it’s made all the difference. Hopefully this is just the start for Woody!
  14. Who? Besides Woodruff. The Brewers have a bottom 10 farm system right now, they don't have a true game changer outside of Hiura, and he's about to graduate off the list anyway. Too numerous to mention. But I’ll give you a couple, Houser and Rasmussen. Houser’s already making a name for himself on the crew’s big league staff, Rasmussen’s had a meteoric rise up the ladder to AA, and has the arsenal of a Tor or dominant pen arm. Look for Devon Williams at some point later this year to make his debut with the crew in the pen, with his near 100 mph FB. You should get a opportunity to watch him pitch in the futures game coming up. Tremendous depth of pitching all the way from The 2 Arizona rookie league teams thru AAA. Don’t sleep on this pitching. Few things on this, after I say that, I agree that as a whole the farm system and the pitching prospects specifically are underrated. First of all, Houser and Woodruff are not considered part of the system any more (for both you and monkeyman) so I don’t think they should be brought up in discussions regarding the farm system... Second, I think your propensity for hyperbole is why people tend to get into so many arguments with you. We all love Rasmussen but not every pitcher with good stuff has a great chance to be an ace, it just doesn’t work like that. And lastly, it’s Devin Williams not Devon...
  15. Yeah, I probably should’ve clarified the Lutz comment. I would pull the trigger on that immediately as well, it’d sting a bit for me to see Lutz go but it certainly wouldn’t deter me from making the trade. I would also be willing to include Turang if that’s what it took. Don’t think the fan base as a whole would be thrilled, but you have to give to get!
  16. Here’s what I came up with for Stroman and Giles. I’m not sure I believe the Jays would do this (and as a huge Lutz supporter it would be tough for me) but I do think it could be somewhat close to what a deal might look like with a better third piece than Abreu included.
  17. Nah, I don't hate the thought, but the lefty power bat with a better glove and overall Major League history (and without the character/maturity concerns) is the one I'd rather have.
  18. Nick Bennett signed for slot value, according to this tweet (which he liked).
  19. Small was really a fun interview. Talked through the analytics of his pitching approach in a way I’d have to imagine basically everyone could understand. Seemed comfortable and like an all around cool guy to be around. Definitely excited to see how quickly he could potentially move through the system.
  20. It has somehow gotten worse with us winning the last two lol. I get that the last couple weeks have been frustrating but the response has been pretty ridiculous...
  21. Better tell the Astros they are done too. They just ended a seven game losing streak. They should probably just start selling honestly.
  22. This might be the most hyperbolic post I’ve seen on this site in my time here... this season is looking like a major failure because we are 0.5 games out of first place? And having one starter of the three look really good while two of them struggle would qualify that decision as one of the biggest blunders in franchise history?! What does the lack of homegrown pitching talent under a different regime have to do with this group? Yes Burnes and Peralta have struggled, but both showed a ton of ability in their time up last year, including in their playoff appearances. Saying, “they thought they somehow happened to now have developed three starters in one season” as if it was incredibly stupid for the FO to believe they could all be successful at the MLB level this year is ridiculous. Woodruff appears to be pretty close to turning into a TOR arm and he’s actually a workhorse that they trust to go deep into games. On top of that, both Peralta and Burnes have still shown plenty to work with and are only 23 and 24 years old...
  23. Couple of notes on Cam Devanney, this years 15th Round pick, and Jhoan Cruz and his slider Here And notes on a few of the younger guys to watch in Luis Silva, Anderson Melendez and Arbert Cipion Here
  24. I saw you say this on Tuesday... I guess I just don’t understand how you think you understand the amount of rest he needs, during the comeback from a major injury, more than the Brewers do...
