  1. The Dodgers and their billion dollar payroll aside the reason the Brewers have struggled in the playoffs is the extreme lack of power which is why I would have prefered Baty over Jett. As far as the value is concerned we did far better with Peralta than we did with Burnes a trade I really disliked. In the playoffs its far harder putting together 3 or more hits to score a run so adding the power of Baty would have filled our needs big time. Nothing against Durbin but I would far prefer seeing Baty as our third baseman. As for adding Myers as basically a throw in I am not a fan at all but I seem to like him far more than Arnold did.
  2. I think Baty should have been the target over Jett. The biggest problem with this lineup is the extreme lack of power and I just don't see Jett hitting for much once he reaches MLB. Baty has big upside with the power we so desperately need. I am also not a fan of including Myers who I like quite a bit more than the team appears to. We do have to trust Arnold but its hard to see us winning a World Series with a lineup that just completely lacks power other than a couple of guys. For every Altuve there are tons of short guys who once they reach MLB just don't have the power needed to be big time players.
  3. I'm sure nearly everyone will think this is too much but my offer for Suarez would be Durbin and Patrick. Sorry but Durbin doesn't have the power to be an everyday third baseman and Patrick has less upside than our other young pitchers. Yes we are giving up a ton of team control for a rental but I believe that both Durbin and Patrick re easily replaceable. I would not be willing to trade Myers or any of the other higher upside pitchers and certainly don't want to give up any of our super high upside younger prospects. Durbin and Patrick is a high price to pay especially for a rental but its one I'd be willing to do.
  4. Why is it ok to cherrypick the last few weeks for Ortiz and Durbin while ignoring their season numbers as a whole.
  5. Despite a few decent weeks the left side of the Brewers infield just isn't nearly good enough.
  6. I realize this team has been playing better lately but I still see them being short 2 or 3 bats to be considered a serious playoff threat.
  7. Blame Arnold for targeting Durbin and Ortiz in the Devin and Burnes deals. We have no punch because we continue to target guys with no power. As much as I like Frelick and Turang you can’t win a championship when 2/3 of your lineup aren’t a threat to hit for extra bases. it’s not easy to score when you consistently need three hits to score one run.
  8. He's young and improved all of last season. Yes a hitting coach can help and in this case hurt a young player.
  9. What exactly does this team do well because I see nothing other than decent starting pitching which is wasted when the idiot manager pulls them early nearly every game.
  10. Collins is about as bad defensively as Bauers in left field. Just another AAAA player getting major playing time.
  11. Hook can be the manager and let Henderson be the pitching coach and get someone outside the organization as the hitting coach.
  12. None of the rentals will get this team anything other than salary relief. Unless they are moving Freddy or Contreras don't expect much in return.
  13. He's young and needs a professional hitting coach not the hacks we have on this overmatched coaching staff.
  14. We are already paying the price of Murphy consistently yanking starters that are pitching well at 80 or less pitches. There have been so many games where we could have gotten an inning or two more out of the starter.
  15. The lack of power really hurts the offense so even on the rare days where they get a lot of baserunners they often don't score much since they usually need three hits in one inning to score.
  16. After the job that Arnold has done the last six months I am quickly losing confidence in him. I hope he can keep the scouting staff intact as that is the best part of the organization. I am very curious and concerned to see what he does this trade deadline as the last few moves (Devin trade, rule 5 debacle and the Burnes deal the offseason prior} look quite bad at the moment.
