  1. What is the downside to firing Haines. Its not like the offense can be any worse without him.
  2. When we are selling at the deadline maybe Stearns can move Hader for some more defense first middle infielders with weak bats. If we can't even win with Burnes and Woodruff on the mound we may be battling Pittsburgh for last place.
  3. The Brewers obsession with middle infielders that can’t hit continues. Who knows how this trade will work out but this won’t exactly be some huge addition to a lineup that can’t score.
  4. We have failed continuously in the draft for the last ten years and that started under Melvin and has continued under Stearns. The point is often made that we haven't drafted high in years but somehow the Rays draft and develop well and they never pick in the top 10 either. Our scouting and development staff has failed big time at finding good position prospects and thats why Stearns has to dumpster dive to fill multiple positions seemingly every off season.
  5. Stearns has just not focused on offense at all and this goes with his signings as well as how we have drafted under him. We continuously sign and draft up the middle athletes most of whom don't project well with the bat. We have mostly ignored third and first base types in the draft and internationally. It was not hard to see most of these free agent signings failing as most have. It doesn't take a genius to see that guys like Sogard and Smoak offer very little if any upside at all.
  6. Collectively, all at once? And coupled with others that performed below expectations after arriving? What are the odds of that? Again, isn't the more likely/logical explanation that something about the Brewers' approach/strategy isn't working right? How about Haines is terrible at his job and Stearns has failed the last few seasons of putting together a good lineup. I don't care if I sound like a broken record but we have gotten practically nothing through the draft and international markets when it comes to position players and thats why we are forced to overpay the likes of Garcia and Bradley.
  7. Unfortunately the 10 runs yesterday probably bought Haines another month. I think another worthless performance yesterday might have meant a new hitting coach.
  8. Stearns put together this lineup which was pretty much guaranteed to be bad.
  9. Turang looks like the latest in a long line of slap hitting shortstop prospects that were badly overrated by the fanbase. I would be more than willing to deal him for a rental like Story.
  10. Maybe we should all be lamenting years and years of awful drafts and international signings that have left this organization with no internal options all over the diamond. Hiura is the only home grown talent that had a chance of playing everyday. Maybe we wouldn’t be talking about Arenado if we were competent in drafting and developing everyday talent.
  11. As for Arenado I think we could have worked it out. Instead of wasting over 20 million on Bradley and Garcia it would be nice to see that money spent on someone that can actually help this offense. Arenado was acquired for essentially nothing and if he did in fact opt out after this season it likely meant that he had a big season so that wouldn't be a bad outcome at all for the Brewers.
  12. Say what you want but this team is boring.
  13. I am not really looking to trade either of our aces but the farm is barren and something has to be done to improve this offense.
  14. If Cain hits under .200 for the year, he won’t be on the Brewers next year. The salary is already a sunk cost, they could very well DFA him and move on (see Pujols in 2021) as Taylor or Corey Ray despite their respective suckitude would probably hit above .200 over 162 games The Brewers are not cutting Cain till the middle of next year regardless of what he is doing offensively. He can still play a great CF and is a team leader. No way does he get cut so they can play Corey Ray or even Taylor whose play has fallen off.
  15. If I had to guess...I would think they thought Yelich, Hiura, and Narvaez, etc would hit closer to the norm. This would make the defense of Wong and JBJ more valuable. Now, seeing one injured and the other fall off the face of the earth to go along with the older players looking old, well that probably wasn't expected. Edit: Also, it isn't like they didn't try to improve the offense. They did, but it just didnt pan out(Turner). I get that they tried to sign Turner but we all know that was extremely unlikely to happen so if that was the only avenue to improve the offense it was a terrible plan.
  16. This is exactly what I was trying to say.
  17. I.... what? Wong is a perfectly adequate hitter for the position he plays but his bat is nothing special so his value is tied up in his defense which is excellent.
  18. Stearns is just totally fixated on athleticism and middle of the diamond athletes at the expense of hitting ability.
  19. Wong is a good player but he should never be one of your best hitters.
  20. As I’ve mentioned numerous times Stearns has allocated over 50 million on four outfielders with Yelich being the only plus bat of the four. If that is not a poor use of our limited resources I don’t know what is.
  21. Why do you keep repeating this? Kolton Wong can and is hitting well this season. I get that you may not like the signings but at least be truthful in your posts. It's weird that you repeat utter nonsense. Wong was signed for his defense and his bat is good enough for the position but he is not a good hitter.
  22. Is it really surprising that the offense is terrible. They didn’t hit in 2020, Haines was retained, and the only acquisitions that mattered were Wong and Bradley neither of whom can hit. Stearns completely whiffed again last offseason but the results should have been expected.
  23. Also for the millionth time why is Haines still employed by this team.
  24. The fact is the Brewers offense was atrocious in 2020 and the answer for Stearns was to sign Wong and Bradley neither of whom are known for their prowess with the bat. Wong was a good signing since going from the defense of Hiura to Wong is as big of an improvement as there could possibly be so no arguments there even if Kolten only ends up being average offensively. Bradley getting paid 14 million on defense alone is and was inexcusable. Expecting Yelich and to a lesser extent Hiura to lead the offense wasn’t crazy but best case scenario would leave us short offensively.
