  1. I guess to each their own but I see Turang being more valuable than Small or Ashby at this point and probably close to the same as Mitchell. With Adames firmly entrenched at shortstop and the lack of pop in Turangs bat I am more than ok moving him in a deal.
  2. I expect Houser to be a key contributor to the bullpen sometime late this season.
  3. I'm not against acquiring Gallo but its going to be expensive and I don't know how much we should be willing to pay. If the main piece going back is Turang its probably worth doing but I wouldn't want to give up Mitchell, Small, or Ashby.
  4. Is it just me or does Yelich look off balanced a lot. Looks like he barely if at all bends his front knee.
  5. I really want to see Hiura be the answer at first base but I think we really need a big time bat and hopefully Hiura can straighten himself out in the offseason.
  6. See, I get this argument. You are basically saying that the Brewers should be playing matchups better. That is a solid, logical argument. One that's difficult to disagree with given the circumstances. Thats what all of us who wanted to start Burnes are saying. I think most if not all of us are ok with the 6 man rotation but were in favor of Burnes starting today because of the opponent.
  7. Hiura swung through some very hittable pitches that could have gotten us back in the game.
  8. I will happily eat some crow regarding Peterson who has consistently given the team quality at bats.
  9. Regardless of todays results I don't like a first time starter pitching against the team we are fighting for the division against. Much rather have the first start for any pitcher be against a lesser team.
  10. Does a win against the Cubs in June really mean that much more than one against the Pirates, though? Perhaps to us fans as a rivalry game it does, but in the scheme of the final season standings, I don't know if it is a huge thing. I didn't see the decision to start Ashby today as a give-away to the Cubs. He's a legit MLB-caliber arm. Pretty obvious that he isn't ready yet based on today's results, but it isn't like the Brewers went into the game today with the predetermined decision to hand it to the Cubs. They obviously hoped their top pitching prospect would be good enough to make it through a couple innings. It didn't happen. That's baseball. Yes each of these games is twice as important as long as you believe they are our biggest threat in the division. No doubt winning 2 of 3 is great but we had a chance to really demoralize our rival and chose not to give the team the best chance of doing just that.
  11. I'm ok with the plan but you have to treat games agsinst chicago a little different than one against Arizona. These games mean 2 games difference in the standings so going with Burnes was the thing to do. We could have gone back to the 6 man rotation and even used Ashby tomorrow night in a less pressure filled situation.
  12. The run differential is going to take a real hit today especially when we start using position players.
  13. Had they known that Ashby would be as inconsistent as he's looked, I imagine they wouldn't have made the decision they did. This is kind of the ultimate "benefit of hindsight" strawman argument. Is it really surprising that Ashby would be nervous in his debut against a rival. I just hope they haven't damaged his confidence too much.
  14. Ashby gets no blame whatsoever for this debacle. You don't start a guy in his debut in a big game against a rival. Burnes should be starting and we should be sweeping this series.
  15. Good job for Richards to get out of a jam. Now lets score and win this game.
  16. By the way I respect everyones opinions and don't want to come off combatitive I am just frustrated watching this team struggle to score most nights.
  17. Not an answer. "There must have been in my opinion as a fan" doesn't mean there was. And who are the Brewers trading away to acquire said player? And were you calling for Cron back in February, or is that with the benefit of hindsight? I'd suspect you wouldn't have been thrilled with them signing a guy that hit .190 last year at the time. Sorry, the 'must have been able to do SOMETHING' without knowing what 'something' was doesn't seem fair on my end. Stearns is the GM and its his job to improve the lineup whether through free agency or with trades. I couldn't have possibly suggested trading for Adames because I would have no idea he was available but Stearns did and he made the move. Just as the GM gets credit for putting together a good pitching staff he takes a hit for a lineup that is flat out terrible.
  18. Cron would have been a good signing. There must have been trades out there to improve the offense. Fact is we had a terrible offense last season and the genius GM didn't see fit to acquire a legitimate offensive performer. Wong is a good player but he get most of his value on defense. Bradley flat out should not have been brought in and his contract value is obscene. It was obvious to anyone that watched this team last season that we were desperate for some talented hitters and Stearns fell way short. Its also infuriating that the offense never improves yet the hitting coach remains in place. We should all have such job security for providing no value whatsoever.
